It was nice to come try this spot out and glad I did. One of the nicest baristas I have met and what a cozy, zen feeling coffee shop this is. I only came in here as I was on a waiting list for a table for the place across the street. So, if I was not on a waiting list and got a seat right away I would have never came here. I am sure alot people do what I did especially on very cold or very hot days as there are not alot of other places to wait in. Anyways, I had one of their seasonal drinks it was an iced latte with hints of spices and maple. It was called a Maple Spiced iced latte. Lots to love about the Mandarin Cafe in Chinatown. It's absolutely beautiful and visually is one of my favorite places. Their strawberry matcha is really solid and they use pretty good quality matcha, which was on the more bitter side for me but was sweetened (not too sweet) by the strawberry puree. They also have a selection of pastries and have a no-laptop policy on the weekends (but you can use your ipad or phone). Great place to catch up with a friend or two, or just catch a beat in the middle of the day. Lots of East Asian influence, though not sure this place is owned by people from the community. However, this neighborhood could definitely use more business. It's also near Banh By Lauren, so check that place out while you're down here! The bathroom, as the rest of the place, was beautifully decorated. The window brings in a lot of natural light. There is communal seating as well as small tables for you to post up at. Beautiful coffeeshop located downtown near Chinatown in East Broadway. It was a trek but worth it to see. I came here in August with a friend on a sunny afternoon and it was gorgeous inside with the classic cafe drinks. We both had iced coffees, I tried their espresso tonic. It was great on a hot late summer afternoon. The coffeeshop has a lot of seating with fashionable people taking photos and chatting inside. It wasn't noisy at all though. The bathroom is also beautiful, designed for a hotel. A definite gem any true coffee lover should immerse themselves in. Accepts cash, card and Applepay. Bathroom available. Good for working. This is SUCH a cute coffee spot right around the corner from Golden Diner. You go in and immediately feel calm. I was able to get a table in the morning but there isn't much seating. I know they are known for their matcha but we ordered a cortado and green tea. Both were absolute perfection. We also got the salmon toast which was very tasty. I had an appointment in the area and then about 2 hours to kill before I was meeting up with my SIL. I didn't want to move too far, since we were meeting up about 10 minutes away. Google led me to The Mandarin. I had a chocolate olive oil loaf and a matcha latte. Originally it was quite full, but about 15-20 minutes after I got there, it emptied out so I moved to a little corner booth. The cutest cafe has popped up in the heart of Chinatown! With a modern, almost industrial like interior, the Mandarin is a welcomed new addition for those who need another place to get some work done. It has a good amount of seating, and is laptop friendly on weekdays. They also serve lattes and teas, along with some basic pastries. Have been wanting to stop by for a while and finally got around to it! Aesthetics are great - it's very modern and sleek. There's a decent amount of seating and some outlets, but the cafe is divided in half between a coworking space where laptops are permitted and a space for people to chat and hang out (but no laptops on weekends). It gets a lot of direct sunlight (which can be pretty blinding if you're near the window), and there's wifi and a fancy bathroom. I stopped by on a weekday morning and it was pretty busy but eventually some spots cleared up at the coworking table. The Mandarin is a very aesthetically pleasing space - bright and beautiful. Perfect spot for taking photos, getting work done, or catching up with friends. Tried both their latte and matcha latte. The latte was solid (they use Sey beans) and while the matcha was good quality, it had too much milk. Either have to increase amount of matcha given or decrease amount of milk. While the interior is nice-I find the staff standoffish. Coffee and pastries are mid. It was my first visit only for all existing paying customers to be kicked out while they were having their coffee bc the cafe had to be closed for an hour. I stumbled upon this cute cafe on accident and was immediately wowed by its beautiful and modern architecture, soothing ambient music, and productive atmosphere. It seems like the perfect place to work as the space was extremely quiet and there were plenty of seating options. All of the seats were full when I went during the afternoon. Staff were friendly. I tried the chai latte and it had a pleasant spiced flavor, a bit stronger than most Americanized chais I've had at cafes. I was satisfied with its taste but disappointed with the size and cost. The management of this place was very rude. After ordering our drinks and sitting there for an hr, we were asked to leave because people are waiting for seats. There was one customer waiting. The woman who worked there stopped by our table a couple of times and asked us why we were for so long while there were customers who have been longer than we have. She didn't ask them to leave.
