I have to be honest, I had my doubts. As popular as they are, sometimes the early succeeding brands/institutions get success early and tend to not meet the current standard of excellence/modernity. Stumptown proved me wrong! I stopped by for a cup and asked for my typical cappuccino, and it was definitely one of the best I've had in the city. The texture was perfect; the espresso and steamed milk married each other beautifully into one homogeneous texture. The espresso had a distinct flavor, not shy - bold, savory, rich. It was the perfect size, and I hadn't had a cup like that in a while, though I've been searching. Really excellent job - and I can see why they're still successful. Would definitely come here to work if I ever needed to during the week (went recently and looks like they started clarifying no laptops on the weekend, tho). It was so buttery that the bottom part of the croissant caramelized a little and it was crunchy. It was also gigantic. I could not finish it in one sitting. When I bit into it, the top layer of the croissant flaked off and kept its shape as it lifted off the body. I was able to peel it off like it was a sheet of paper and continued to eat the croissant like that until I got to the delicious buttery core.
