The ladies up front have always been very professional. Baker Eye Care has a nice selection of prescription glasses to choose from. I have purchased glasses here once but I stick to contacts. Baker Eye Care accepts my insurance which makes it very affordable. I will say the prices for the glasses are higher than national chains or online. I don't know if there is a quality difference, but Baker's service can make up for the difference. Great local practice. Highly recommend supporting local businesses.

Broke my glasses In half yesterday and they can do nothing to help me until after LABOR DAY.... weeks away. Then the woman on the phone had the audacity to hang up on me when I asked to speak to the Dr. to ascertain a solution. Myself and family, father, brother and his family, and quite a few friends are now looking for a new eye doctor!! Be very wary of setting foot into Baker Eye Disservice. Rude desk workers and no sense of helping someone. If they treat someone with 30 years of loyalty with such a dismissive attitude - I'd truly hate to see how they treat others!!

I am not typically one to leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience so…read moreothers can make an informed decision. One issue I encountered was that Digby does not accept many common vision insurance plans. Unfortunately, I did not learn this until after my exam, when I was presented with a bill that I had to pay out of pocket. Because my insurance was not accepted, I took my prescription to LensCrafters to have progressive lenses made. After receiving the glasses, I experienced significant vision issues and initially believed the lenses may have been manufactured incorrectly. However, LensCrafters strongly maintained that the lenses were made according to the prescription provided and suggested that the prescription itself might be the source of the problem. When I contacted Digby's office, I explained the situation and asked whether they would review the prescription and verify the glasses. I was told that if I wanted the matter investigated further, I would need to schedule and pay for another eye exam. I was disappointed that the possibility of an inaccurate prescription was not more seriously considered and that there was no willingness to evaluate the issue without charging for an additional exam. Between the unexpected out-of-pocket expense, the insurance limitations, and the difficulty resolving the prescription concerns, my overall experience was frustrating. In hindsight, I wish I had done more research before scheduling my appointment. I would encourage prospective patients to verify insurance coverage in advance and understand the office's policies regarding follow-up concerns before committing to care.

I can't say enough good things about Kaluzne Vision Care... they are amazing!…read more I originally selected Dr. Kaluzne and his team because they were the only optometrist in the Winston Salem area to offer Optomap, a digital health picture of your eye that is saved and allows them to compare changes between visits. Well worth the small extra fee. When I first started using contact lenses they included some much needed, hands on lessons on putting them on. They reached out to me a few days later to see how things were going. When they learned I was still struggling they asked me to come back in so they could give me some pointers and practice with them watching. SO helpful! They are dedicated to outstanding customer/patient service. From their overall demeanor to their willingness to help with insurance to their happy personas... they make every visit to the eye doctor a pleasant experience. Their dedication to quality is noticeable as you enter the building too... super clean and well kept with nothing out of place. Twice now I've developed eye infections over the last few years. Both times, despite being on a Friday, they were able to work me in for a quick medical visit and get me prescription drops so I would be good as new by Monday.

I'll split this review with 3 stars. We've used this doc and center for years, but unfortunately…read moreit's time to change. Pros: the office is clean, staff is nice and prompt, and we're usually in and out in a timely manner. Since Covid, they ship contacts straight to your house since of office pick ups. Cons: a while back I had to cancel my December appt because I had Covid, and they weren't able to schedule me again until March. After a few dialogues they did provide sample packs of contacts until that time. Fast forward to this year: I had a baby and missed my yearly deadline (somehow they send reminders to my husband and not to me). But anywho-another 3 month wait for an eye exam and refusal to provide any sample contacts. We now have appointments made within 2 weeks at another facility. Fortunately for them they're doing great business, however it's unfortunate for their existing and long term patients.

I had good impression of this office, but not anymore! We saw Dr. Freshwater and heard good things…read moreabout him, but that was not the case. The exam was not thorough at all. If you say "thorough" if an opinion, here are some facts: 1. The doctor grabbed the wrong contact lenses samples for BOTH eyes! 2. At the checkout, the printed prescription for contact lenses was something else for one of the eyes. 3. When I compared with last year's glasses prescription, Dr. Freshwater's prescription does note anything for the astigmatism for one of the eyes, no axis either. So, talking about "thorough." Does he realize we will pay hundreds of dollars for contact/glasses based on his professional judgement and be stuck with these equipment? If a doctor has lost the heart for patients or feels like he can do routine stuff with his eyes closed, he should not practice anymore. A patient doesn't know technical terms, but a human can feel if a doctor cares or not. He did not even bother to "pretend" to care. His nonchalant demeanor and mistakes all over the places revealed his absent-mindedness. The equipment in the office is also dated, traditional pieces, not advanced new equipment with better technology either. It was a harmless exam process, but we walked away wondering what happened?
