I see Dr. Khemsara for my eye care and he has done cataract surgery on both my eyes. The office itself is very welcoming and inviting. There is a big waiting area with comfortable seats. There is also an in house eye glass store. My surgery was done on the 2nd floor where they have a state of the art surgery set up. Staff there explained everything in detail prior to surgery and after. The anesthesiologist did a great job in making sure I was comfortable and pain free. My follow up today was also great. My eyesight is already looking great. All my questions were answered. I am highly satisfied with the entire process, including these assistance in securing financing for both surgeries. I had one of the most stressful and upsetting experiences at this eye exam, and I feel it's important to share. It all started with a 45-minute wait past our appointment time in the lobby, where there was a person screaming nonstop. This was never addressed by the staff, and it left my school aged child terrified--she wouldn't let go of me and just clung to me the whole time. During the appointment, the staff asked me in front of my child whether she was "jealous of her older siblings" and making up eye problems just to get glasses. This was not only inappropriate, but it made an already uncomfortable situation worse. Then, when the doctor finally came in, we were told my child needed glasses to see properly. We were told that our insurance would cover the appointment 100%, but they didn't cover anything because the office had processed the insurance incorrectly. I called multiple times, left messages, and eventually had to send a letter to get someone to address it. When I finally received the bill, the staff was extremely rude and told me it was my fault for not providing insurance that would cover the exam--despite being explicitly told my insurance would cover it fully. In the end, I'm left paying for an exam that was emotionally draining for my child and should have been covered by my insurance. The whole experience was frustrating, and I was really disappointed by the lack of professionalism from both the staff and the doctor. I would highly recommend finding a different eye care provider. We will not be returning to this office. read more

Scheduled an appointment for an annual eye exam and they confirmed my insurance over the phone. When I arrived for the appointment the receptionist could not figure out how my BCBS insurance coverage works. My medical plan clearly covers annual eye exams and they are an in network provider. The receptionist told me I would need separate vision insurance, which is not true. Also, the patient intake paperwork had an absurd number of misspelled words, which combined with the lack of insurance knowledge seemed like a big red flag. read more

He is patient, professional, and precise. He has been my doctor since 2019 and I can't ever see switching to anyone else. The very worst experience ever in my life. Scheduled for surgery and prepped and left sitting for 3 hours!!! When they finally remembered that I was supposed to have surgery 3 hours ago they then rushed and tried to put the drops in the wrong eye!! By the time I was seen the numbing in the eye had worn off! My vision in that eye has never been right since and when I went back to tell them about my vision not being right in that eye I was told that I would have to get used to it!!! Needless to say I never went back to get the other eye done! They are all about the money and do not care about the patient. Find a better doctor than Khemsara .. it won' be hard. read more

My husband had an appointment for 4 pm to have a cyst under his eye removed. He had a previous appointment to set up today's appointment. The person that originally called him back though he was here for an eye exam, even after my husband checked in and told them he was here to have the cyst removed. This was 45 minutes after his appointment time. That person then had my husband sign a consent and sent us back to the waiting room. At 5 pm, staff are leaving and going home. Finally, someone else comes to get him to take him back for the doctor. We then told him that we were here to have the cyst removed. He ask if we had seen Dr. X. My asked, well isnt that in the records. Assistant said well we just changed computer systems so we can't see that information. What? Doctor comes in and says well we are going to do a thorough check of those eyes. I speak up because we have already been through this twice. The doctor then looks through notes and sees previous doctors notes. Meanwhile, this is TWO hours after initial appointment time. (Oh, and that doesn't even include the one guy that at 4:30 who went up to the counter to ask about why he was still sitting and his appointment was at 3:15. They said they didn't have a record of him checking in.) read more

I had run out of options... other doctors told me that they had no options for me and I would have to wear glasses the rest of my life... then I found Summit Eye. The issues mentioned in negative reviews above are insurance issues and have nothing to do with the quality of the practice itself. I had a nice clinical experience with this optometry facility in Mocksville. I actually made appointments for my whole family. However, like many of the reviews I have read since, what happened to several people also happened to me in the billing phase. I was not made aware of any excess charges not covered by my vision insurance, but low and behold, Summit billed my insurance for fees not covered and I wound up with a balance in an above what I had already paid. I bought a year's worth of contacts from them, only to be charged an additional "fitting fee." They are telling me now that it worked out better for me the way they billed it. Really? I would think that it would have been better to have given me the information upfront about what the charges are and allow me to make that decision. I have canceled all return appointments and we won't be back. It's a shame....but I have lots of choices in providers; I will find one who doesn't bill me for extra fees that are undisclosed! read more

I had a lot of questions for the eye doctor regarding the best type of contacts for me, and I also had a lot of questions for the office staff regarding my insurance. I had two cataract surgeries ( one in October and the other in Nov. 2016). Dr. Khemsara was great and so was most of his staff. The problem was mix ups about payments and at the last visit( on Nov 17th ) I asked if what we paid was all that was owed.... I was told all was paid. So the last week of January 2017 we get a bill for around $1000. I called my insurance and they said I had met my deductibles and copays after the first surgery the end of October 2016. I called the office and was told I owed the money and it was for my insurance deductible and some other items.... I was so upset after a call last week while I was at work that I haven't been able to call back to discuss. A whole $1000 off on a bill that I was told on November 17 th 2016 that was paid. I guess I will call them this week to see what can be done. Very frustrating. read more

I had cataract surgery recently, I was undersedated, which I had told them was a possibility. I was under anesthetized and when I asked if I was supposed to be feeling pain Dr Kimsara promptly told me I was feeling pressure not pain! A few more drops were put in my eye and it was better but certainly not numb. At the first post surgical exam later that day when the technician asked what letters I could see I could vaguely tell there was a lighter area on the wall. As he left the room he casually said the Dr would be in soon. I was horrified. Dr Kimsara briefly looked in my eye and said things will be blurry for a few days and I was dismissed. 12 days post op my vision is still extremely blurry - dramatically worse than presurgery. I have made three calls and left messages. No calls have been returned. When I did reach the surgical coordinator she told me she would speak to Dr Kimsara and get back to me. Two days later no call. I won't bother calling again. If you're looking to be mistreated then neglected this is the place for you. To say I'm extremely disappointed would be an understatement. read more

Dr. Khemsara is wonderful. A very kind man and smart doctor. Most of his staff is excellent too, but I have had such bad experiences with one of his front staff employees that it has turned me away from the entire practice! Luz is one of the rudest women I have ever met. The three times I have been to the office everyone except for Luz has gone above and beyond to make the visit wonderful. My first office visit Luz burst open the exam door mid-exam to make a comment about my insurance. The second visit she would not even look up from her computer to answer a question I asked. The third visit I heard her make a comment to another staff member calling me a "fat" curse word. It's unfortunate that such a wonderful doctor has employees like this. I would highly recommend Dr. Khemsara, but would warn everyone to stay away to avoid Luz. read more

Very disappointed with Summit Eye Care. After being a patient for a couple years for the express purpose of eye exams to have a prescription for contact lenses, I was told that the last exam in June of this year (2017) was a "medical" exam and I'd need another exam to reorder contact lenses. There was no medical condition -the exam was for contact lenses and eye glass prescriptions. If, in fact, additional tests are needed, Summit has the responsibility to let patients know that the exam excludes a prescription although it starts to feel like you're in an episode of Seinfeld at that point-most of us are there to get glasses or contacts and of course check for any medical concerns. read more

I unfortunately wouldn't recommend this place. I went because I knew they took my insurance, and the doctors and staff were super nice. However, when I was checking out I was charged an $85 "fitting fee". When I questioned this, they told me it was so that if I didn't like the new contacts I had (they gave me a pair to test the prescription), I could come back for free to try another pair. When I told them that I already knew I wouldn't have a problem with Acuvue Oaysis because I've had them for years (plus I've never been charged for a pair of trial contacts at any office before), they said that the $85 fee was actually because I was a new patient. So, if you don't want to spend $85 just to be a new patient at this office, then I'd look elsewhere. read more

I will never go back. Not because of the doctors bc of the front desk employee. She was unfamiliar with how to file my insurance and questioned if I had eye insurance. Very uncomfortable experience. I ended up leaving and had to cancel my appt. which was a big inconvenience. Go to Winston Eye Associates on Peters Ck. I had a wonderful experience from the front desk staff, doctors assistant, and the doctor. I was seen immediately when I got there. I'm very pleased with Summit Eye Care and very impressed with Dr Biggs. He was a lot of help in areas where i was being mislead by another eye doctor that i went to for 15 yrs plus he's a contact specialist which i was in great need of. Staff is always pleasant and greets you with a smile which i like and is very important to me. You can't smile and show a little kindness it does not say to much about a business to me.
