Upon entering the walkway, we were enthusiastically greeted by an employee named John who quickly ushered us to a vacant table for two. My wife had a slight reaction to the beautiful flowers that were in full bloom. Out of the kindness of his heart, John provided my wife with a bottle of Pure Leaf tea that calmed her allergies. We told John that we were interested in enjoying a glass of red, in which he quickly ran off and returned with a bottle of 2009 Eugenia Cabernet Sauvignon. Upon doing the swirl and sniff test (sounds dirty doesn't it?), I knew that we were in for a treat. Since we were both in dire need of a meal, we sadly could not continue the party. BIRTHDAY SECOND WINERY VISIT…read more Two Saturdays ago my sister, her husband, and my relatives took me to two wine tastings for my 50th birthday. Frank Family Vineyards was the second and last winery visit. My sister and her husband have visited this winery before and highly recommended. At this wine tasting there were four glasses. The wine tasting menu was structured with four different wines - one white wine and three red wines. The first wine was the Chardonnay. It was a nice wine to start with in the late afternoon. The next wine was the Pinot Noir. It was more robust wine. The third glass was Zinfandel, which had a smoother taste that the Pinot Noir. The last wine was the Cabernet Sauvignon, which is the wine Frank Family Vineyards is known for. Of all the four wines the Cabernet Sauvignon was my favorite as it had the robust texture along with the smooth taste. Since it was my birthday I was going to buy the Cabernet Sauvignon for $120. Then my brother-in-law convinced the host John if I can taste a glass of the Winston Hill, which was $175 a bottle. I tasted the Winston Hill. It blew away the Cabernet Sauvignon. I didn't buy the Winston Hill, but it prevented me from buying the Cabernet Sauvignon by saving $120. Overall I had an enjoyable while relaxing time for the second wine tasting menu on my birthday.

Madrigal's father, Jess, also founder of Madrigal Vineyard Management, retained 40 acres of vines, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The purchase price and other terms of the deal weren't disclosed. The Madrigal grape and wine family came to Napa Valley with Jacinto Madrigal from Mexico in 1938.
