I had great directions to the nondescript building and parking lot, and I wasn't sure what to expect as I walked up the stairs. They really turned the area into a retreat. I was upset with the service I received trying out the spa I was running late and called as soon as I knew I would be late since the metro wasn't running at my station I was told that I could not cancel or I would be penalized which I don't recall when I initially called to set up the appointment I don't normally have to call to cancel my appointment the day of but when I knew the transportation situation I had to so I did not want to miss my appointment so I tried the best I could to make it there I let them know it's going to be late and they took out 15 minutes of my massage which really upsets me because I was really looking forward to this massage after I just ran a marathon and spent all this money to have one done and try out a new spa I was just really surprised they wouldn't even let me reschedule but then when I came in for the appointment they told me I had the opportunity to make another appointment and I just said well I'm here now I might as well get it done that was the reason I had asked in the first place and they told me I could not do that. read more

Myself and my girlfriend had a12:00 noon appointment for Saturday December 20th. We got there a few minutes ahead of time as they requested. We reserved a male therapist for my girlfriend and a female therapist for me. When we entered the room for a massage, we saw two male therapist. They said they did not have a female therapist scheduled for our appointment and that only males were available. They asked us to come back another day. I canceled my appointment and told them we were very dissatisfied with the incorrect therapist being scheduled. I would not recommend going to the Tea Spa establishment. This is my favorite spa! I get massages at least twice a year. I send my mom here about once every 3 months. My most recent experience was with Amber who was the best by far! She used just the right amount of pressure and was very caring with my problem areas. The location has a good & bad side. It's located in Wheaton at the intersection of Georgia & University which makes it easily accessible. However is shares a suite with a driving school. So it doesn't look like much from the outside. But once you get inside you are in a peaceful oasis. They offer tea a special tea blend which is delicious. This location often has groupon deals for those who like to be cost efficient. First time coming here, I got the 1 hour Swedish massage with Aly. It was wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Parking was fine. The waiting area was nice, calming, and really helped me start to relax after a long week. I really liked that the intake forms could be filled out online, so I didn't have to worry with them when I got there. I was taken back right at noon, when my appointment was. It was a very nice room, extra points for heated massage tables. Those were divine. Aly was a wonderful massage therapist, perfect amounts of pressure and was very good at targeting my trouble spots. My only minor complaint was a mild issue I had using a gift certificate I had received for Christmas. I was accidentally charged on the card I used to book the massage. However, as soon as I called and reported the issue, management corrected it and credited the money back to my account, as well as sending me a very nice follow-up email. 5 stars for professionalism, courtesy, and a truly fantastic massage. read more

I saw them on Groupon and bought the 50 minute facial deal. I had my appointment today and it was just okay. I guess you get what you pay for and maybe they don't put as much effort in for people who come in through Groupon. I was early and had filled out my intake form a few minutes before it was scheduled to start. It still started a few minutes late and lasted less than 40 minutes, 20 of which I was masking and my facialist was out of the room. Everyone was nice and I think she did a good job, it just wasn't quite the experience I was hoping for. read more

If the spa experience is just as important to you as the massage itself, then this is not the location for you. NOTE: The massage was great!! I have no complaints there. (That's why there are 2 stars.) My issue is with the location. I could hear traffic noise from the street even when there weren't sirens blaring. If you love the robe and slipper experience, it is not here. Make sure you go to the bathroom before you arrive or just as you arrive because the bathroom is outside of the spa in the hallway. read more

I've been a member of Tea Spa for several years now and I scheduled an appointment for a massage September 1, 2020, which just happened to be their 1st day open since the COVID-19 closure. I can assure you they are taking every precaution to keep themselves as well as us (the client) safe during this difficult, stressful and crazy time. Upon arrival, with my mask on, which is required the entire time, I had to immediately wash my hands or use the hand sanitizer provided. Had to remove my shoes or use the plastic shoe covers also provided AND had my temperature taken all prior to entering the facility. I was immediately escorted to my room which was also sanitized and the massage table now has a plastic cover under the linen for easy cleaning between client appointments. I was really excited to hear they had re-opened as I was desperately in need for a massage. This pandemic has really caused much stress and anxiety trying to keep safe while having to still work to pay the bills on time and Tea Spa was just the relaxation I needed. My review is based exclusively on the massage itself and not on the overall experience (although overall it was very good). My husband bought me a membership for $49 which allows me to get an unlimited amount of 60 minute massages for $49 each all year. My first massage was with CHRIS, and it was outstanding. He is extremely courteous and professional, and he made me feel extremely comfortable. He definitely has a methodical yet fluid approach to his massages and he knows exactly the right amount of pressure to apply. Although he was friendly, I appreciate the fact that he didn't talk throughout the massage (I hate it when the massage therapist tries to carry on a conversation with me). Chris gave me an excellent massage from head to toe! I wish I could have gotten a 2 hour massage!! I have been back about 5 times now, and I haven't bothered to go to any other massage therapist because Chris is so fantastic. I would highly recommend him and the Tea Spa experience. read more

I get migraine headaches all the time and massage tends to help them. I'd been bouncing around hitting all the Groupon massages that came out in Moco. live in Silver Spring nearby Wheaton so this location is convenient for me. Karen is the best masseuse I've been to yet. I ended up going back to Tea Spa instead of hitting up the next Groupon after the first massage. After that I even decided to buy one of their memberships for $50 which brings the massage price down to $50 per for the year. That's paid for itself and more. I've seen Karen and I think the other one's name was Wendy. Both were very good, but Karen gets my business. She's very professional, friendly but not talkative. She really gets at tight muscles. By the end of a session I feel like I melted into the table. I highly recommend her and T-Spa. Also, area of Wheaton not so bad. Definitely safe for women to walk from Metro during the day. I purchased a 60 minute massage and detoxifying foot scrub from Groupon. I have no idea what the foot scrub is since I didn't receive it. I spent 60 min with the massage therapist who did an ok job but for a deep tissue massage there was just not enough pressure. The whole session I could hear the front desk phone and staff talking so it wasn't very relaxing at all. Luckily I spent 10 minutes signing up for the app to park at a meter or I would have been screwed - the parking situation alone should be a reason to find a better location. I don't think I will be back. At $1/min the massage place in Pentagon City Mall or Ballston Common Mall provides a better deep tissue massage at the same or better prices - better parking too. read more

Like many others, I bought a groupon to this place. I've had a few massages before - I try to schedule them at the end of each semester after sitting hunched over a computer and books for several weeks. :) This place was AMAZING. Literally, hands down, the BEST massage I have ever received. The website was very clear about where to park, so I had no problem parking. When I arrived, they asked if I parked in the correct location, which I think is a courteous considering the towing zones. They handed me a form to complete, and led me to a small couch to wait for my therapist. I had barely sat down when Chance, my therapist (a woman), arrived. She led me into a room and reviewed my form with me. Then she left and I undressed. Chance was AMAZING. She did things that no other massage therapist has ever done, which really added to the amount of comfort I experienced. I requested to focus mainly on my upper back, neck, and shoulders (I sit in front of a computer for both work and school), and she did just that. The parts that no other therapist has done before was she worked on my arms (I gave her permission to do so) and even my hands, which I was surprised at how much that was connected to my back! Also, she used a lot of lotion or oil when massaging and I was concerned that it was going to ruin my shirt when I put it back on. Chance walked away for a minute, and the next thing I feel is two hot washcloths on my back, which she used to massage and wipe away the oil. Every time I've had a massage I've felt like I still had places where they could have worked on. When Chance was done with this massage, I felt completely rejuvenated. There was not a single part that could have been worked on more. Before I left they gave me some information about membership, and in my opinion, their membership package is 10x better than Massage Envy!!! I am strongly considering a membership to their location. Overall: Pros: -FANTASTIC therapist -Different techniques that really added to my massage experience -The membership deals sound amazing. Cons: -Parking - I did manage to get the very last parking spot -The sounds from outside are mainly muffled but I did hear some car horns while I was receiving a massage. This isn't a deal breaker for me, but it might be for other people who are sensitive to sounds. I was in an exterior room, though. I think there was an interior room away from the windows. If noise is something that concerns you, you could probably talk to someone about that. I brought a groupon for a couples massage and foot scrub for my boyfriend birthday. I picked this place because it was close to where I live. Its a very peaceful atmosphere and he really enjoys masseuse. Mine was good aswell (besides feeling his hairy arms while i received my massage) just think i will get a women if i returned...... But the only downside is that I gave my Groupon number assuming that was all that I had to do When reserving my appointment by phone but it was not the case. My advice would be to Specify when you get there the particular Groupon that you have because they claim I had a better type of massage so excluded my foot scrub which made me a little disappointed. My appointment was for a signature massage. The day I was supposed to go they called an hour or so prior to my appointment time and cancelled my appointment. To make up for cancelling they offered a foot scrub that would be added to my appointment. The day of my rescheduled appointment, I verified I wouldn't be charged anything additional and then was led back to my massage room. After the massage, I was told I owed an additional fee for the massage. I recommend requesting a bill or paying for your services upfront so there are no surprises. read more

I purchased a groupon for an hour couples massage for my boyfriends and I's anniversary. When we arrived we were greeted and offered beverages. It is a very relaxing environment and I felt great as soon as I walked in. When the massages began, it was great. The therapists were very nice and completely understood our trouble spots. About 15-20 minutes into the massage my therapist had to leave because she had gotten sick, I was completely understanding and let my boyfriend finish his massage. I was very pleased with what I had gotten in the short amount of time and was looking forward to having the same therapist. We were also told that I would have the same therapist and to reschedule the session which we did. It took me a while to find an opening for a couples massage but I finally made it. Due to the lack of parking, we arrived about 5 minutes late therefore our session was cut short. Even after I arrived, we were seated and told to wait. I was looking forward to having the same therapist but I didn't. We didn't get the same care and attention from these therapists as we did the previous time we went. My trouble spots were not cared for. My boyfriend did not get a thorough massage; it all felt very rushed. Maybe because it was a "make-up" session, we didn't get the attention we were supposed to get. The massage almost felt like something I'd get at the mall. The 20 minute session that I got the first time I went was much better than the 60 minute make-up session (technically 45 minutes). read more

I am SO done with Tea Spa. I continue to be lured in there with groupon deals, but my massage experience yesterday sealed the deal. NEVER AGAIN. I left there in such a bad mood - not what you want when you leave a massage! I got the "signature massage" which is supposed to be an hour long. On the phone when I made my appt, they asked me to arrive 15 min. early. So I make a point of getting there early. They asked me if I was a new client and since I was not, there was no paperwork for me to complete. So I just sat there waiting for 15 minutes. It would be a lot more efficient if they asked that over the phone, so people would not have to wait a full 15 minutes for nothing. But that was not the worst of it. I waited the 15 minutes, PLUS the therapist took me 11 minutes late. He did not apologize. I was sure he would extend my massage to the full hour, but he only gave me 50 minutes!! I was FURIOUS. Another thing I hated was he did some sort of foot exfoliation towards the end that was really not my thing. I don't know if this is something that's part of the "signature massage" but I really didn't enjoy it. Anyway, this was a real disappointment. Tea Spa, try better customer service and don't rip your clients off. And try running on schedule if you're gonna have the nerve to ask us to come in 15 minutes early. Overall you get what you pay for w/the Silver Spring location. Pros: clean, friendly staff; Cons: parking is a challenge and because it's off a busy road it's super noisy. During my massage i could hear all the traffic noise over the relaxing music so it was really hard to "relax". My masseuse Onya wasn't awful but she wasn't great either. I upgraded to a deep tissue and it was mediocre at best. The massage bed was cold, the room was cold, there was no pleasant smell and overall not a relaxing environment. I can't say I walked out of the feeling amazing like I typically do at other spas. I'm glad I did a Groupon I would've been angry if I had spent $135 for my experience. If you're on a budget I suggest you wait and save up so you can spend the extra money on a better spa. II have been a member of Tea Spa for about a year now and been going there for a little longer. I really like deep pressure for my messages and have found a few therapists I enjoy seeing. It is an odd location, at the corner of University and Georgia, but once inside, I find the atmosphere serene and peaceful. I go in stressed from work and like and come out relaxed. I get extremely tight muscles in my neck and back and my therapists is really good about focusing on the areas I ask for. I also find the price reasonable, for one regularly priced deep tissue message to pay for the membership, I receive the rest of my messages for a year at half price. I find this extremely reasonable for the price. I am happy continuing to go back. read more
