I had always heard about this little spot, but wow was it a nice surprise! This cute little Thai spot is hidden off of State street! Whether you're looking for a quick lunch or an easy dinner option, you won't be disappointed. We opted for some pot stickers to start with and a few curries to judge! Everything was super tasty and quick! There really are so many options that we would love to try...and we will come back! This is the best Thai food we have ever had. And when they say hot- they mean it. We cook daily with hot peppers at our house, and this is the first place in a long time where we really were struggling- and only with a 4/5 heat level. The chicken fried rice is amazing if you don't like coconut like me. Also the Thai Basil Chicken. For coconut dishes try the Massaman curry! Also the staff are nice and easy going :) read more

Dang tasty and with some serious HeAT . In any other place I order a 6 or 7 for spice level. They will not even let you order over a 3 for takeout, but they will give you extra. YOU will NOT need it! We ordered take-away. My pad tai was a three and was very tasty (comparable to an 8 elsewhere) The lettuce wraps had the meat separate in a nice juice with plenty of veggies. The tom yum soup, one of my favorites, was very flavorful. The staff is friendly. The restaurant could use some sprucing up and repairs. But this is your traditional, very good, hole in the wall - which I love. The are authentic and all about the foot. Which these folks are. I will return - although, probably at a #2. We just moved to the area and were in the mood for Thai one night. Found this cute lil restaurant and walked in. They got us seated right away and brought out waters. We ordered potstickers and pad Thai, and everything was 10/10 soooo good! The flavors and textures were immaculate. The spice level at a 1 was perfect (you get to choose how much spice you want). The portions were a good size -- not overwhelming but enough to take some home. The service was some of the best/fastest we have had since the pandemic started. Our server was a younger dude and he was so polite and kind. We definitely plan on going back to this place soon! read more

Being from CA, it was weird seeing that restaurants in UT were literally in houses. Tea rose from the outside looks like any regular house, but I guess you can call it "hole in the wall." Gives it that "homey" feeling haha and it's a family run restaurant which makes it even more like home! We kinda got here a little early for dinner (they close from 3-5pm) I was a bit skeptical because it was a Thai-American cuisine/tea house. I didn't think it'd be authentic in taste since there was so much going on, but I was wrong! C'mon Arnold Schwarzenegger eats here I should have figured it'd be good. Anyway, what I find cool about the restaurant is their WALL OF FLAME!! You get your photo posted on the wall if you eat a curry w/ spicy level 10 and finish it (less than a dozen ppl have made it so far). They don't mess around here when it comes to spicy. First time customers, they won't serve anything over level 3, but if you dare you can try 5+ however, there will be an extra charge of $1 lol. Glass noodle salad w/ chopped grilled pork - The pork seemed a bit dry, but the rest of the greens seemed fresh. The fish sauce went well w/ it Chicken Larb - It was ground chicken & I liked it better than the grilled pork. Wasn't dry and portion size was generous Tom Yum Soup - Of course this is a staple dish I have to order at any thai place. It was the perfect amount of spicyness along w/ lemongrass & sourness/acidity. We got it w/ white meat chicken and they know how to cook chicken here, it wasn't dry!. Great soup Red Curry - HOLY CRAP it was spicy. Both my friends were downing the dish like no other, but my tongue was on fire. I believe they got this spicy 6? I love Tea Rose with all my heart. This little spot is tucked away in the heart of Murray and gets pretty busy around lunch time. I haven't ever tried the "diner" menu because I fell in love with the Thai and can't stop. I find myself craving it at times and nothing will suffice until I get my yellow curry with chicken. The portions are a really good size, the only con is that the ratio of rice to curry is pretty unbalanced and they charge extra for another tiny bowl of rice. Also, The Wall of 'Flame' Doesn't have very many photos on it, do we need a Man vs. Food challenge or what? read more

There is a 4-page Thai menu and about 6 American diner options for those who aren't as brave. We had the Pad See Yu noodle that they can make from a level of 1 -10. The number 4 is insanity, I don't know how they go all the way to 10, but if you do you can get up on the "Wall of Flame". Great, great, authentic Thai Food. No way you think you are going to get food this good when you walk in and look at the place, BUT YOU DO! Try the vegetarian (vegan?) spring rolls, not fried. Such a wonderful place. I love the food here, it is one of the best thai place ever. Love the spice level they have. I always have a number two level spice, but for those who can't handle spicy food I would recommend a zero or a one for a little kick. The thai ice tea is the best. I always order it. The curry was fantastic and the Tom yum was always a favorite there also. The only thing that is a big of a problem is their parking. Well, all the reviews are right - they make awesome Thai food if that's all you were wondering. This place is apparently famous among foodies so I decided to drive out to Murray (which I never do for food). Our group shared the Papaya Salad, fried spring rolls and some curries. The salad was very interesting but tasty. I wasn't sure what to expect but they were shredded, sweet pickled thin strips of papaya mixed with some lettuce and veggies with a tasty fish sauce served w/ sticky rice. The egg rolls were just the small frozen ones, not bad but not worth buying. The curries were where it's at tho - The Panang Curry, Massaman Curry and Kow Soi were all amazing. The panang was thinner and more sweet than I usually like but still good. We got pork and chicken and tofu, which were all good but not the star of the show, just protein for the bold curry flavor. I'm very critical of tofu and give the tofu a B+ here. Nicely fried outside but pretty soft on the inside still but not the best. The Kow Soi was my favorite tho, I got spice level 2 which def had some heat but I felt like I should go for a 3 which I did when I went back next week for their pineapple curry. 3 was perfect for me who likes spice but isn't a fiend about it. The pineapple tasted a tad weird however. Even with the tiny dings for egg rolls, tofu and pineapple, the curries were so amazing it's still 5 stars. read more

I'd recommend getting level 1 spicy if you're used to spicy American food as level 2 is very spicy for me and I eat spicy food all the time. Damn it Tea Rose. I feel like I'm back in middle school with a crush that is so hard to maintain. Be mindful when dining in because space is limited but well worth the wait when they've reached maximum capacity. Let's start with spice levels- I'm a sucker for all things spicy- borderline uncomfortable when it comes to heat. Tea rose is aware of their clients who request spice levels over 4. Here, spice level 4 feels like an 8 and it will burnnnnnn. I ordered level 5 spice and my waitress asked if I "knew what I was ordering." My waitress also asked if I've ever tried their food to which I happily replied- YES AND I WANT IT ALLLLLL. Lol Pad Thai- I suggest you order extra meat because it's worth it. Yellow curry- I'm not a fan of potatoes and substituted for extra veggies and it wasn't an issue. It's slightly sweet and tangy with a fair amount of rice served on the side. I highly suggest this dish for those who are hesitant to expand their pallet but are up for trying new flavors. This dish is done properly and I always order it when I visit. Spring rolls- most of the time when you think spring rolls you assume there will be some sort of protein incorporated, but not here. Spring rolls come vegan style unless requested otherwise. When ordering spring rolls be sure to ask for shrimp or you'll get tofu as a replacement. There is nothing wrong with tofu but I am a fan of seafood especially when it comes to spring rolls- I want it packed with shrimp and pork! The condiments on every table are vegan friendly so don't hesitate to have a taste. I enjoy the food here and I've never had a bad experience. I like this place a lot and I'm so disappointed in their lack of confident in saying that they do Laos style. The potstickers had a great pairing sauce, the flavors were great. The spring rolls were good- loved the touch of mint and the peanut sauce. My favorite had to be the wontons surprisingly- the shredded carrots were an unexpected great touch! For entrees we shared the pineapple curry and the sweet Thai basil stir fry. Both excellent! The curry was enough sweet with a big zing of spice. The stir fry had a great veggie assortment and the flavor was great. I like spicy food (usually about a spice level 3 most places) but here a 1 was plenty spicy! If you are not a spice person, tread lightly. Food was good, not great. Price was too much. I really liked the yellow curry. The tea rose fried rice was not bad but it disappointed a little bit. I was expecting it to be better because it is supposed to have all of the meats, but it was pretty much just all chicken. I would've preferred to save a few dollars and just get regular fried rice. The pad Thai was also good, but nothing special. The yellow curry was my favorite thing of the three. Overall it was good and satisfied my Thai food craving, but it was not great. This is my favorite Thai place in the SL Valley. I really like the pad Thai and their curries. You can't go wrong, unless you order too spicy. Normally I order a 1-2 and it's great. We saw good reviews for this place on Yelp so we had to stop in and give it a try. It was busy and we chose one of the open tables in an alcove with half booth seats and half chairs. I ordered the Pad Thai which was not overly sweet with long noodles and a lot of bean sprouts. It tasted ok, but was not one of my favorites of all time. I have lived in Murray for over 2yrs and have never heard of or seen this little restaurant. A team member in my office recommended we order from Tea Rose for our holiday party, and I was excited to get to try out the food she raved about, but I wound up missing the party and missed out on sampling the food. So ever since Christmas I've been meaning to get over to this little secret spot that is literally right down the block from our house. We went last night after going to another restaurant first and while waiting to be seated for 15mins we decided to head to Tea Rose instead to test it out. It's off the main road in a little building and not something you would find unless you were looking for it. We went in and it reminded me of the little "whole in the wall" restaurants in NYC that I miss so much. The place was bustling but we were greeted within two mins and told to sit wherever we wanted. We grabbed a booth and had waters and menus within a few moments of sitting down. There only seemed to be 2 servers managing the whole floor but they were on top of it. I knew what I wanted to order (Pad See Ew) as it was what I have been dying to try since I first learned of this place. I got it with tofu and it was absolutely spectacular. The noodles and tofu were perfectly cooked and the dish was packed with flavor (even if I'm a spice wimp and ordered it at a 0). My fiancé ordered the pad Thai with beef and I don't think there was a scrap of food left on his plate at the end. Since this was our first time here he ordered his dish at a 1 since he wasn't sure exactly how hot the range is, but he said there was not heat at all in the dish (however, he loves spice and adds hot sauce to his food often so he has a good tolerance for spice). He will likely bump it up to a 2 or 3 on the next visit. We also ordered the chicken potstickers as an appetizer. These were scrumptious. Nice crisp outer edges with soft center and it came with some dipping sauce that was a perfect addition to the dish. Some of the best potstickers I've had. I'm not a Thai food connoisseur since I'm not that familiar with this type of cuisine and had always assumed all Thai food was spicy so I stayed away. Man, I was missing out. The food prepared at Tea Rose was top notch and I can't wait to come back to try other dishes. If you like Thai food you don't want to pass this place up. Just make sure you stick to the 0 to 3 level your first go-round until you get used to their spice style before you dare to be brave for any higher number. Food was incredible and Service was impeccable. I didn't get to check out the restroom since it's only one unisex bathroom and it was occupied when I went to check it out before leaving, but we will definitely be back so I can check it out next time. read more
