White rice and Thai Sweet and Sour Stir Fry with Pork
    Trevor H.

Tea Rose if a little hidden gem! The food was fantastic. I had the Thai Sweet and Sour stir fry with Pork. It had a delicious flavor. The fresh spring rolls were tasty. Although the dining area is small, it never got too noisy. The service was a little slow to get appetizers and drinks ordered. But after we ordered, the food was on our table timely. I would have loved some kind of lunch special or combo to try a few more items such as soup, fried rice, and entree. But overall, the food was amazing. food - 5 service - 3 Overall- 4

This place was incredibly busy during the lunch hour on a weekend. With only one server serving the entire restaurant, I was impressed with her efficiency. However, my water sat empty often. The food was amazingly tasty! The pad see-ew is my favorite Thai dish of all time, and it is the best dish at this place! The cream cheese wantons are life changing. The ambiance is clean but small. They have tables to accommodate parties of almost any size. I will definitely be back!

Look what I stumbled upon in downtown Murray Utah! I was just at FOE playing in a pool playoff and as I pulled onto 5th I see the word "diner". Diners are my jam! Got me! It's a Thai restaurant!!! Doing the Yelp peek, seems I struck gold. They close in 16 minutes. I got mine to go. They kindly accepted my order and shared a prudent warning about the spice level 3/5 being extremely spicy. I opted for a 2 and she gave an additional warning that it may be too much too. The hostess and the cashier are classy ladies and very accommodating. I'll assume this food is amazing and I will be back with friends! My food arrived and I'll be home in 20 minutes. I will circle back with the foodie portion of the review in a bit. The place is pretty full and the vibe is no music and great conversations all around. I'm home and the food is so good! Grateful for the spice downgrade for a 3 to a 2/5. It's perfectly spicy. The garlic tofu, I forgot to ask for a spice level and it's just delicious. I'm eating it thinking about the perfectly cooked vegetables and firm tofu. So much good flavor and delicious flavor. The spring rolls are fresh and light the sauce a blend of peanut sauce and vinaigrette. I ate all three of them. I'll likely make three meals from this order. As for tonight, I'm full and very satisfied. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

Fantastic food! We ordered chicken panang and lettuce wraps. Phenomenal. Just the right level of heat for the panaeng, and the lettuce wraps were divine. I absolutely love their panang, however the star of the day was their lettuce wraps. They were my favorite part -- I could see eating that as a meal vs an appetizer. It was served just like the menu said: lettuce, cucumber, onion, shredded carrot, beansprouts, tomato, mint, cilantro, green onions, rice noodles, served with sweet chili sauce and crushed peanuts. Yum. :) Service was a little slow, but the place was absolutely packed, so it made sense. Very kind waitstaff.

Fabulous food- service was a little slow because it was busy but it was fine. Yellow curry, Thai chicken, pad Thai and lettuce wraps. We'll be back.

5 stars for sure! Normally, Utah Thai food with a couple of notable exceptions is bland boring and weak. Utah palates seem to cleanse ethnic food of taste within a few years, so kudos to this place for hanging strong. Tea Rose is definitely not weak and bland, its pretty tasty, and downright flavorful. If you are looking for heat, you have come to the right place! Yes, its in a run down part of downtown, in a run down building around the corner from State street. Inside is clean, and well kept even though the outside is pretty rough. It's décor reminds me of the great Mexican food mom and pop places I ate growing up in the South AZ except with Thai temples instead of bullfighters on the wall. Yellow walls, giant plastic water tumblers and low frills. Yes, I would have never gone here without the very strong recommendation from a coworker. Yes, I admit said coworker was right about the food. So, lets talk about the food. appetizer: Cream cheese wonton. I know I know, but coworker wanted them and they were pretty good with carrot and onion inside. Not greasy, well fried, what more do you ant out of a fried appetizer? Panang Curry: 5 stars, now we are talking! smooth creamy, well seasoned, with finely shredded kaffir lime leaves on top in addition to the generous meat and veg portions. Beef was silky smooth. I got a 2 on their new 6 scale (0-5 is six places if you ask me) which was pretty warm spice wise. Delicious! Pad see Ew. Also beef although i normally order it pork. 5 stars, wide noodles, healthy portion of broccoli and carrots and onions. I really enjoyed it, Heat level 1 which was warm, not hot, although it sent coworker into choking convulsions from the heat level. (said Utah Palate) Larb Na: another noodle dish, coworker favorite. Tasty although not as good as the pad see Ew. 4 stars, heat level 0 deferring to my coworker. still flavorful to my surprise even with mostly missing one of the pillars of Thai food which is the heat. So since i have mentioned it several times, lets talk about the heat index. Apparently they used to have a 10 scale which is now a 6 scale (0-5). There are semi-amusing warnings on the heat level index on the menu. They charge you extra for 3-6. They will not remake your food or refund you if you order 3-6 and can't take it. I take it they have been burned in the past by Utah palates. (nice pun right? :)) It reminds me a little of my fav AZ Thai place which will not let you order the highest level if you are not Thai. I was especially thrilled by the waitress giving me the skeptical eye when i ordered a level 2 for the curry. It kind of made my day. She was like" are you sure you want to try that white boy?" without saying it. I was going to order level 3 but discretion was the better part of valor today. I don't know if she would have let me anyway. The level 2 was plenty spicy, although i believe i could have gone higher to a 3 and still enjoyed it. I would not recommend any higher than that to anyone other than a masochist without a tongue. Service was superb. Order was fast, food was quick out, and the water refills were awesome. Our waitress was running the whole front and she didn't miss a beat. very friendly without crossing a hovering line. Definitely mom and pop vibes, and not a thing wrong with that. My two fav Thai places in Utah are the same that way, and a lot of the fancier places pale in comparison food wise. go get some!!

From the outside the building is just a little run down and uninviting, but this place has some of the best Thai food in Salt Lake city! Level 2 is about as spicy as you could want... any higher and you are trying to hurt yourself (and it costs extra). Everything is good here! The peanut sauce on the fresh spring rolls was awesome for an appetizer! This restaurant is a must if you like Thai food!

As a southeast Asian person who loves spicy food and can handle extreme heat, I was very disgusted and incredibly angered/annoyed when the white server thought it was within her right do deny the level 5 spice for my papaya salad, claiming that she " cannot serve it, unless you have eaten our level 3 and 4" and even going as far as saying that it was their store policy not to serve customers level 5. She then proceeded to give me attitude as she served the salad which was not spicy at all, and had the nerve to charge an extra $2 for one pinch of chili powder which barely enhanced the dish for me. Besides that, the restaurant was quite decent and the dishes were of good quality and proportion. Love supporting local Asian businesses and I hope that they can find better wait staff who are less obnoxious colonizers. ( overheard it was her last day so good riddance!)

For many years they occupied a detached building facing 7200 south. But a couple of years ago, they moved into the strip mall directly to the south of their original location. Their spice levels can be off the charts so I'd advise starting with a level 2 of spice. Otherwise the food can be overly spicy. I recently tried their Swai Choo Chee, a white fish in the catfish family. It was really flavorful and the curry in which it was served was a change from the usual green curry I typically order. The staff is friendly and very polite and being Thai natives, they know how to make the food correctly. I will continue to support Chabaar when I'm in Midvale and only wish it was in an area closer to my home.
