In all the years I've lived in the area I had not visited the tea room. I am glad I finally decided to go for a girls day. The clam chowder was creamy and had a wonderful flavor. The finger sandwiches where also delicious each a pair of different sandwiches which we shared around the table. The banana bread was fantastic soft, moist and great flavor. If you go ask for there desserts you will not regret it. Not only do they serve you a huge piece of cake but they look as good as they taste. Really nice spot, good ambiance, cool decor, definitely an experience you wouldn't get anywhere else, it's just that their service is super super slow. Literally I've never been anywhere with such slow service. It took about 20 minutes to a half hour to get our slices of cake that I assume they just needed to get from the front cake case. Getting the bill was another 15 minute ordeal. Some of the staff seemed a bit confused also. We almost got an order for someone else's table (I mean hey, I would've ate it though). I got a croissant with egg and turkey. They really stuffed it and you get a big portion for the price, so that's the main reason for the four stars, plus the ambiance. My childhood Tea Room dreams finally came true! What an ADORABLE little spot! I can not believe I had never visited the Tea Room at Cauley Square, in fact I had no idea Cauley Square existed... While hanging out with a few friends someone brought up this hidden spot and when I mentioned I'd never heard of it she immediately said the Tea Room was the new lunch plan - and I'm so happy she did ! Cauley Square itself is super quaint and adorable. The Tea Room is located right at the front of the square near the entrance. When we walked up to the Tea Room we were greeted by sweet community cats that freely roam the area and then by Marié once we entered the restaurant. The Tea Room is like stepping into an old fashioned daydream, simply charming. There are multiple rooms, each decorated just as adorably as the next, where you can even host private events. Marié was our server, she was new, training and very sweet and accommodating. My friend brought along her 2 month old and Marié quickly made extra space to fit the stroller and was really nice about it. We were all starving so we quickly took a look at the menu. I started off with the Soup de jour, which was a Cream of spinach - it came out served in an old fashioned mini tin pot. It was severed perfectly hot and with a mini baguette on top.. what's not to love? My friend and I both wanted two of the same items and decided we'd split the plates so we could try both. We went for the Prosciutto and Brie Melt , it came out in a fresh baguette with a light layer of pesto (delish) and the Monticristo sandwich, sweet french toast holding together thinly sliced ham (so good) both came with sides of their homemade fries , which were sliced in rounds and perfectly crispy, and oh my goodness it was all delicious! We also all split a pot of Possion Tea, super flavorful and not too sweet ,it was the perfect touch. We definitely couldn't finish it all so we took the rest home. I will definitely be back to the Tea Room soon , I had an eye on their dessert, if I hadn't been so full I would have for sure wanted to try their decadent looking carrot cake. My company had vegans and gluten intolerance and we shared a lot of yummy stuff. I had the turkey & brie wrap which included dry cranberries. It was delish. I have gone to the Tea Room at Cauley Square a few times, and I have to say I truly love coming here. It feels like going to an English countryside tea room. The service is excellent, actually the same server Dora served me again and recognized me. Considering I come here very sparingly... she is darn good at her job. I mostly came because I wanted to spend time with my good friend Marilu and because she is the Tsarina of Tea, because I know she loves it... I had told her about this place and got her to come with. Tea was wonderful as always, I once again had the Magicienne, which was recommended to me the first time I came here and I have become a huge fan of it. The food was great! I had a different version of the Eggs Benedict this time (they do not do it the traditional way with Canadian Bacon) as I had it with ham. I much preferred it over the other time I had it with American Bacon. I sat in a different section of the tea room, where everything was decorated in butterflies... it's just a beautiful place. The ambience is wonderful. Upon entering, you still see the wonderful Chartreux cat which must be the restaurants pet... just relaxing and sleeping. Marilu of course couldn't help herself and petted the cat... the fact that she wore a Sailor Moon dress with the cats just made it cute/funny. If I had known... I would have done a whole tuxedo mask thing... nah I couldn't pull it off. The tea room of course is full of tea sets one can purchase.... I may one day be tempted enough to buy one.
