This fab dinner place is right next to the Majestic Theatre in West Springfield. Three friends and…read moreI thought we would try dinner here before the annual Holiday Show. No reservations, so get there early! An automatic bonus star for original craft cocktails and dinner specials. I abhor restaurants that rely on staple meal choices, forgetting that people need variety from the ho hum they make at home ( or can make at home- like Wood and Tap. Boo.). I love a place like this where you can look at the menu and see at least two or three things that make you think "WOW, what will I choose?". The restaurant is very bright with many high top tables. It would have felt conspicuously weird to take photos in the full-capacity situation we were in. There's also a gentleman playing acoustic guitar and singing Christmas music. Nicely done, with a professional voice and playing style. I would say, the only downside was that there didn't seem to be a consistency of how people were waiting on tables, so simple things like a set of silverware missed at our table, and then somebody brought a set and didn't bring napkins. Then one of us received the completely wrong meal and we had a delay in getting it corrected while we were already on a tight schedule with the other flubs to make the show on time. It was scattered issues like that all night that kept this from being a five star experience. It

Table settings seemed like an afterthought. Felt like the staff were just doing their own thing and not paying attention to clients. I was very impressed with the fact they do stuff their own olive daily! Might give them one more chance...

Chicago Sam's is the ideal place to watch sports, football, hockey, baseball, soccer, golf, or even car racing. The bar has more than 30 High Def TVs and a speaker system to match! When I come here, I'm always greeted promptly by the friendly and knowledgeable owner Phil. Both Phil, the waitstaff and bartenders are extremely friendly and pour a great drink. Chicago Sam's has an amazing beer selection to choose from and a fantastic menu. The chicken wings are always delicious. They taste like a slice of heaven. Moreover, they recently have upped their standards hiring a new chef. his homemade soups are on par with any of the areas higher price's restaurants. Most importantly for me, Chicago Sam's is family friendly. If your looking for a fun, fast atmosphere in this Covid pandemic, look no farther than Chicago Sam's!

Also don't ever criticize the bartenders drink cuz she'll walk away and forget about you the rest of the night. Made our moscow mule taste like straight alcohol and no I am not exaggerating it was gross. Asked for a little more ginger beer in it and her whole demeanor change. If you can't handle that simple of a comment then get out behind the bar and pick up a broom. Bad and not coming back. Psss.... If you wanna try it then my recommendation would be to come on happy hour and get drunk enough to where the food will taste OK.

I hate driving to…read moreEasthampton (not your problem), I hate parking in Easthampton (not your problem...maybe), and there're lots of places I'd rather be. HOWEVER...I've been to Gigantic at least three times now and I have to admit that going out of your way is worth it. The drink list is not huge, but it's never boring, changes often enough to keep me interested, and I don't recall getting anything less than excellent. If they're willing to do a "bartender's choice" type thing (I haven't tried), I might have to go even more often. To address some of the things that others mentioned: Yes, it's small, but lots of good places are. Yes, the drinks take awhile, but I don't know of ANY high-end cocktail place that can cranks them out. Get over it and enjoy your time there. I've never experienced rude or pretentious (anymore than that are always is) service, but that would annoy me. The server/bartender has always been quite nice to my friends and me. I also checked out their list of vintage liquors last time I was there. I didn't try any (because money) but the fact that they have them at all is impressive.

What we did like was the old school music, vintage feel that took on the vibes of an antique shop (it was fun to look around), and the intimate setting. The cocktails were really good and creative with a menu that updates frequently and featured some classics as well. The cocktails were a bit pricey for what you got and for the area, the snack options were very limited and overpriced, and service was very slow despite few people being in the bar. We had to ask to be served and waited over 15 minutes for the check. We are glad we checked out Gigantic and would not recommend going out of your way for it as there are other great cocktail bars in neighboring towns.

The bar itself has well kept look and not being a regular felt very comfortable going in and watching everyone have a good time and singing. The bartender was nice enough to switch out a drink if you didn't like it and have you sample the juice before mixing another drink. I didn't catch her name but she was very considerate. At one point I asked her about a beer they had and she informed me that it was a glucose free beer especially for one of the regulars. I thought that was a great gesture for their clients. Anyway great little bar and I would recommend going in a group. Have fun guys

Then closing came and they decided to let someone perform that already performed even though we had waited two hours and never got to perform once, and when I said that to her , her excuse was that it was a good song even though she literally said our song was a great song choice when I gave it to her! The place is small and I already struggle with the anxiety of being in a tight space with people so it was such a disappointment to patiently wait for nothing. Definitely won't be going back and don't think it's worth the trip there. Coming in or leaving you'd be bombarded with clouds of cigarette smoke because of the people that smoke right in the front, which is something I personally don't enjoy, and, besides the truck outside that always seems to be closed, there are no food options. A couple of alternatives are TD or Atlas bar in Chicopee.
