If I ever find myself doing another cross-country trip again, I'll probably stop by here again. If you're local however, goodness... just check out the place if you haven't already!

Joined for lap swimming. When pool is open, it's usually almost perfect. BUT (and this is a big…read more"BUT") management of the pool schedule is bad. Hours for lap swim posted on their website are usually not correct as pool is not open when hours posted say it is. Was told by front desk people their website is not accurate and I should only use their new 'app' to check hours. So I loaded app and have used that to check pool lap swim hours. Tried to swim on weekday last week. Checked app 2 hours prior and said lap swim open 1:00-5:00 pm. Arrived at 2:10, changed and got to pool deck at 2:15 only to be told "We are closing for 30 minutes from 2:30 to 3:00 today." Today, a Sunday, at 9:00 a.m. app says pool open for lap swim from 10:00-1:00 pm. Arrived at 11:00 only to find out pool is closed due to swim team practice. they are "very sorry" for my inconvenience. This has happened 4 or 5 times in past month. Frustrating to plan my day/week, drive to the YMCA, and show up only to find out pool is not available. Seems like this is happening more and more often in past 5-6 weeks. If only we could know when pool will be available for lap swim. Seems like this should not be that hard to do. Put someone in charge of schedule and posting updates. And, once hours posted, stick to that schedule.

I messaged Martha and she got back to me very quickly with updates to the class schedule and welcomed me with open arms. I took the Saturday beginner class which was recorded live for her virtual students around the country. It was a beautiful class. I had never done this series of postures in this sequence before. The instruction was wonderful. I can't wait to join in again. I am from out of town and am even considering doing the virtual classes when I am not in town. I just love spending time and learning from such present instructors to help me deepen my practice and Martha's Yoga Studio is a beautiful place to do so in a small, yet powerful setting.

There's a great 20-20 deal for first-timers to Martha's studio where you get 20 days of yoga for $20 ...yep, really. It's a great deal and gave me the push I needed to finally give this studio a try. I have chronic severe pain in my neck, so thought I'd give yoga a try. I walked into the Martha Gordon Yoga Studio completely new to yoga and to be honest, quite nervous because I have astonishingly inflexible muscles. Martha has been great about offering modifications for me to safely perform the workouts and, having just completed my final day of the 20-20 deal, I was thrilled to realize that for the first time in my life, I can touch my hands flat to the floor without bending my knees! - I could previously only graze the top of my feet with the tip of my fingers. Huzzah! I can't wait to continue learning yoga in this supporting and uplifting atmosphere. I'm so glad I gave this studio a try.

I have done CrossFit for over two years and before that worked out at one of the bigger gyms in North liberty, regularly attending their group fitness classes. I say that to level set my experience. I guess I was expecting more of the pseudo high intensity classes that are offered at the bigger gym. You know what I am talking about. The type of class where more attention is paid to the activewear that someone is wearing as opposed to the actual workout intensity that they are putting forth. Let me tell you. The work out at versa was intense! I can honestly say that it was one of the more high intensity workouts that I have done in a long time. While it did not focus on the weightlifting aspect that I was used to from CrossFit, I found the cardio portion just as intense. Before the work out began I felt there was an adequate amount of time dedicated to stretching and warming up. While the workout was going the instructors were supportive and helpful in their coaching. While I am not a member I would not hesitate to recommend this location to anyone looking for a high-intensity workout.

I had run on (almost) the daily on my treadmill. But man... something was missing. Enter Versa Fitness. Let me rewind a minute. Yelp had an event with them a couple months ago and I have NEVER been so sore after a workout. But I had also never felt so ACCOMPLISHED. I am a sucker for a runners high -- stress melting away with elation and a decreased ability to feel pain due to the endorphins released after countless miles. But, with Versa. I'll take all the pain for the gain. (Cause trust me... there will be some pain.) After the Yelp event, I wanted to join right then and there. No joke. But with a little still at home and constantly being a mom taxi... plus the gym being ALLLLLL the way across town from me... it's just not in the cards. Yet. Anyways. Imagine my excitement when I saw Versa was offering twice a day classes online during this hot mess? AND that they were free?! Nick, Josh and Ashley are amazing to workout with. So much passion and knowledge. (And did I mention heart? The gym literally loaned almost all of their equipment out to members when this COVID-19 businesses shut them down.) Last night I enjoyed a wonderful kettlebell class with Ashley. We did three sets of four exercises -- four times. What an amazing way to destress as you quarantine! They even have body weight only options for exercises... so no equipment necessary. Thanks, Versa Fitness!

I have nothing but positive things to say about this academy. The students were all welcoming and friendly and the instructor (John) did an excellent job breaking down technique and also explaining why the technique should be used. What I thought was really cool was that the class instruction was based around some things John had noticed from other competitors at a recent competition. He broke down what he was seeing and taught solutions to techniques that were being used. The skill level of the various belts was on par if not higher than many of the academies I have trained at along the west coast. There is a misconception that 'not a lot of jiujitsu gets in and out of middle America' and I can reassure that this is clearly not the case at Tipping Point. These guys are tough!
