She has studied, performed and taught Raqs Sharqi for over twenty years, and continues to develop and grow in this art form by attending workshops and classes in person and online with international instructors. Shari believes that belly dance is accessible to people of all ages and body types. Whether students come to get exercise, meet new friends, practice self-care, or with a desire to improve their technique and perform, Shari is supportive and welcoming. Her classes offer a safe, nonjudgmental space for students to build a strong foundation and to practice belly dance beyond technique. Shari's goal is for students to be mindful, active and connected with their bodies in the ways that feel good to them. She also sprinkles in cultural tidbits, including historical and musical background, to provide context about how this mesmerizing art form has developed. Shari teaches in a local studio and is available for special performances from private parties to theatrical stage shows. When she's not teaching or performing Raqs Sharqi she can often be found kicking her heels up in the local salsa or swing dance scenes.

I think most of the town was there to see it. It's a small town ..so go figure. With prices like $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for kids...who wouldn't want to go to a movie. I felt like I went back in time....like 70 years. The theatre was a bit dated and old, but it's still pretty clean and neat...minus the smells of cow manure from some old farmers boots. Old wood floors and unique theatre decore. The seats are not the most comfortable. Popcorn is pretty cheap compared to the other Big time movie theatres...and..it tasted pretty good too. So of your ever in the area...go and support this little local movie theatre.

From their website:…read more Showtimes every night 7:00 PM Adults $2 - Children and Seniors $1 Yes, you read that right. And I saw "The Dark Knight" here last week - and it's still in first run! Okay, price point out of the way, now on to the rave. First - this is a real, old, big, one-screen movie theatre from the days when the movies were something special. The facade is a gorgeous example those days, its geometric, restrained 1930s style a joy to behold. Inside, the original light fixtures and fittings remain. The floor is HARDWOOD PLANKS. Modern, comfy seats fit perfectly with the style and ambiance, having been chosen with care. An original dairy wall clock hangs in one of the back exit hallway doors. Popcorn is on offer in front at the snackbar. The place is filled with kids and families. There's even a (very) stern usher, who polices the place for cell phones and contraband! The show starts every night at 7:00pm (a sign hanging by the box office window tells you when the show will let out) and my family confirms it is always packed. Gotta confess I got a bit of a lump in my throat, seeing all those people gathered downtown, hanging out and seeing the show together, having a bit of a real, old-time American home town experience. This is someplace to go out of your way to experience. Check out their website. Check them out on a map. Is Charles City a road trip destination? It ought to be.

What can you say about this gem of a theater but has not already been said? Having worked at movie…read moretheaters throughout college I can tell you that the pressure for the big movie theaters to play the biggest movies that will sell out or bring it the largest crowd is, is immense. Those theaters rarely take any kind of risk with a small movie that may or may not be the next Hollywood blockbuster. Honestly, they really are a blockbuster hit but are often really good movies that have a voice which should be heard. That is where Film Scene comes in. It fills the void created by monstrous movie theaters which are more concerned with the quality of their heated reclining seats as opposed to the quality of the movie. Now, you should know, when you go to see a movie at this theater, do not expect super comfortable seats. There are some good seats in the back of the theater but the closer you get to the screen, the worse they are, so be sure you get there early. The concession stand is reasonably priced with a good selection of candy, decent popcorn, and a wonderful selection of beer. I would also highly recommend the rooftop viewing of any movie they show. It is really awesome up there. Get some tickets, grab some popcorn, twizzlers, a cold beer, and enjoy a really good movie lovingly presented by true film lovers.
