A friend of mine drives 70 down when he comes to visit us in New Mexico, and he was raving about this place. Last week I decided to take 70 up to Phoenix and made Taylor Freeze my sunset stop for a small hot fudge shake. And it was excellent. I have to admit that I'm kind of new to the world of hot fudge shakes, being turned on to them by the same guy when I was up in Nebraska last year, previously being satisfied with chocolate shakes. The hot fudge ones, done well, are far superior. And Taylor Freeze does a far superior hot fudge shake. I can't comment on their other food, though the aromas were good. I can definitely recommend this particular shake. They have quite a selection of flavors available. If I lived in the area, I'm sure they'd be a regular stop for me. One problem with the place: I'm not really sure where to park! The lot isn't really striped, fortunately there wasn't anyone there when I pulled in so I parked creatively without a problem. read more

I had lived in the Safford area for 17 years before I moved to Las Vegas and I had never tried Taylor freeze. I came to visit family and decided I want to try this place. I felt that the drive thru was awkwardly placed-- the order menu only far enough back for the second car to read. I had a girl, Kayla Valles, come out to my car and attempt to take my order before I was able to see the menu. I let her know I had no idea what I wanted and that this was my first time here. She rolled her eyes, and walked back inside. So I get to the menu so I can read it (I'm only planning on ordering ice cream) and the menu is INSANE. Underneath the soft serve section, there's a text that shows "OVER 24 FLAVORS".....well, I see 3 flavors listed (vanilla, chocolate, and swirl). So I sit and wait, I get to the window, and Kayla is there to take my order. I said "so, I have a strange question. It says 24 flavors on the soft serve, but I didn't see all the flavors." She rudely reaches over to the counter and holds up a sign (which is not posted outside either) of all the flavors and just stands there, holding the sign, impatiently waiting for me to decide. When I say I want a cheesecake cone, she kind of pauses and gives me a look. She writes it down and asks if I need anything else. Sure yeah I wait for my passenger to order and she asks "would you like m&ms" ??????? What No I don't want m&ms thank you. So my total is over 5 dollars not including the debit fee and it takes about 5 minutes for 2 cones. Never got a smile from Kayla and never got a thank you. Watch your staff please read more

Today I still continue to stop by my favorites are any ice cream with coconut and I actually enjoy the bean burritos and tacos here they're good and they have specials throughout the week. read more

This is an old-fashioned burger and ice cream joint. Everything is cooked to order. They are happy to customize for you. The Swiss mushroom burger is the best I've ever had. In addition to an excellent selection of burgers and fried sides, they also have a large selection of quick Mexican food (which on the menu is referred to as "Spanish food"). The mixed green chili and bean burro is exceptional. The hot sauce is different and contains dehydrated onions, but it's still addictive. Save room for desert. The Pepsi freeze is an item you can't get just anywhere. Of course, what elevates this to five star territory from four is the friendly staff. Yes, yes, yes! I am in Pima 2-3 times a year and whenever we go I have to go to Taylor Freeze for a Green Chili Burro at least once. This past weekend we were there and I took my husband for the first time. He had Enchilada Fries and loved them. He was sad they were closed when we headed out of town on Sunday (Not that we would eat out on Sunday or anything ;) I always get my kids ice cream treats and they are happy as can be. We have stopped at Taylor Freeze a few times on our way into Safford. We love the burgers and fries. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that, although they advertise that they have dozens of ice cream flavors, it's soft serve and the flavors aren't very strong. So, if you love soft serve ice cream with mild flavoring, you might give it 5 stars. We'll definitely go again, but the ice cream isn't the attraction for us. read more

Biking into Pima you cant help but feel the push to stop. Maybe it is there signs they have every quarter mile for three miles out of town. OR maybe it was the lack of any other services after Globe. Either was we were happy to see it and stop. Perfect road side attraction with food to fill the hungry belly. If I were to pass this place again, I would stop. The bathroom was clean - which was so important after an awful attempt at a pit stop down the road. Nice soda shop! We did not try the cooked food. Go for mom and pop American food! The new firehouse burger is amazing (hint add bacon) and the monster burger was a hit with the family as well. The pickle fries are also delish! If you like a lot of fries, make sure to get a large or two. And finish off with any ice cream your heart desires, you can't go wrong! I eat here frequently since I live in Pima and over the years sadly the quality of the food has decreased but prices have gone way up. Staff is overwhelmed at busy times and tend to ignore customers. For a 15 minute drive I can get better quality and friendly service and cheaper prices so unfortunately for them that's where I'm taking my business in the future read more

I was really looking forward to this. They got 2 stars because my daughter loved her pina colada soft serve. My son and I each ordered a butterscotch shake, neither of which tasted even vaguely of butterscotch. Husband ordered a strawberry Eegee, which was frozen solid and he said tasted like plain ice once he chipped away enough to eat. Bummer of a stop. read more
