The mango and pomegranate had Tajin on the rim, which I loved. We split the savory crepe--sausage, egg, potatoes, and "green chile." It was huge, but honestly pretty bland. Same goes for the salsa. The green chile tasted like the canned kind, which is a letdown considering we're in the Southwest. Only coffee we tried was a regular black coffee. It was fine. Nothing exciting. The patio was lovely, totally shaded, though I did end up in the sun for a bit. All in all, it was just OK. I'd give it another shot, mostly because the place itself is cute and the menu has potential--but I'm not in a rush. 3.5/5.

The patio is a relaxing place to sit in the shade, despite the industrial issue, airplane-engine-sized fan keeping us all cool. But I'd rather stay comfort than roast on a hot afternoon as temps soared to 92°F during my visit. So it's all good. I ordered the green chile grilled cheese. A sandwich that features pepper jack cheese and green chiles on buttery sourdough, it sounds pretty darn good on paper. But the pepper jack was very bland and the green chiles were lost in the sandwich. It was still tasty and the crispy edges on the bread were nice! However, the tater tots side dish that seemed so innocuous at first were actually the star of the show! They might be the best I've ever had! Tender on the inside, perfectly crunchy on the outside, and seasoned with this amazing spice blend, the Salty Heifer has created the perfect tots! I highly recommend them!

The owners here seem to understand that, keeping things lean and hands-on with very little hired help. As a result, the service from the husband-and-wife team is genuinely great... though when it gets busy, things can slow down. I've experienced that firsthand, and walked out once a couple years ago after a long wait...but I came back, and I'm glad I did. The food is, simply put, amazing. The pizza has that perfect charred crust you usually only find in bigger cities or on the East Coast. The Italian sodas are excellent. I've yet to try anything, from appetizers to pasta dishes, that didn't hit the mark. Prices are a bit higher than most spots in town, but the quality absolutely justifies it when it's in the budget. I've heard the name "Fancy Pizzeria" was intentional: they wanted to set the expectation that this isn't your typical greasy pizza joint... and they deliver on that, consistently. The dining area has expanded quite a bit recently, and the decor is creative and unique, with many of the dishes and utensils sourced from local thrift shops.
