Great find in Pima,Arizona, west of Safford and Thatcher. Takeout breakfast burritos for the group including chorizo, egg and, cheese; bacon eggs and cheese; and variations of the same with potatoes or no eggs. Breakfast restaurant options were discussed and hands down, it was El Mesquite Taqueria. I had the bacon egg and cheese and it was very tasty. The salsa had good heat and woke up those taste buds. First time in my life (aside from Mechy's) that I've had Mexican food at a restaurant that tasted homemade in safford/thatcher/puma. The tortillas were incredible, the right thickness and stretch too. I had a mixed green chili burrito and it was excellent. Some of the reviews were a little puzzling to me and reflected a lack of understanding of actual Mexican food- especially the "side of green chili one"... that's literally the green chili a lot of us in the area grew up eating. If you want no frills, homemade tortillas, delicious food- go here. Worth the drive to Pima. read more

First let me say the tortillas in this place are the best I've ever had in my life. The reason I give it a four stars because their version of green chili is baffling. I ordered a side of green chili, which usually comes in a cup w a side of tortilla, like a sauce or a soup, and usually served with a spoon. What I got was a big box of what I assume is pork. I'm aware that pork is a common ingredient in green chili, this was all pork. Basically I got a big box of meat. Big mistake asking for green chili on my breakfast burrito because it was overwhelmingly a little egg and mostly shredded pork. I will learn from this and always ask about the meat to green chili ratio from now on haha. read more

A bit bummed. I have been drooling over this place the moment it was suggested to me as having amazing Mexican food. That's pretty rare in Safford. Sadly they close everyday at 3:00 pm so we have never been able to make it on time. It just so happened we had a Friday morning free so we woke up super early and drove out further then we wanted to just to experience it. I will start off by saying the customer service is great and the location is Chef's kiss. It's beautiful! Would be so lovely to see in the evening. We get there at 9:00 am hoping to eat a California Burro or even breakfast Enchiladas with an egg only to see that the menu ONLY has egg with potatoes, bacon, sausage, chorizo or ham. Absolutely nothing else for breakfast. The order taker said at 10:00 am would the menu change to lunch. Sadly we left because we were already starving and didn't have anywhere to wait around for an hour. I would like to come back eventually. I'll update my review then. read more

Visited with Mom and Dad for lunch. We had the cheese enchiladas and the beef enchiladas. Both served with lettuce and fresh tomato, rice and beans. They were tasty and the perfect portions. Both parents had the biggest tostada I've ever seen. The tostadas had to be eaten with a fork and knife. No picking them up. The prices are good and take out seems to be super popular. Far and beyond, the best Mexican food in Graham county. This family operated business makes you feel at home, it's got an old Mexico feeling and the decor and even how the building is constructed, absolutely love the fact that the husband and wife run this and their kids are completely involved. It's wonderful to support an amazing family run business, that literally I remember being in a truck just a few years ago. The service is amazing, just what you'd expect if you were to go home, to Grandma's house. They're always looking out for what's going to make their customers happy. The horchata, absolutely amazing highly recommend it. If you're not sure what to order, order a crazy chick, or a carne asada burrito. If you know what you want, it's all good. Best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Seriously SO GOOD! It was chorizo, egg, cheese, and potatoes. I split it with my husband because we heard they were really big, but I probably could have eaten the whole thing because I was craving more after I finished. Every time we drive down to the valley, we stop in here. The breakfast burrito are huge and the eggs are always cooked perfectly. I love the ham and egg, but I have them add in potatoes. If you eat one about 9:00-9:30 in the morning, you're good to go till dinner. I love hole in the wall places, because if the food isn't great, they go out of business real fast. This place has been in Pima for a while now and from what I've tasted, it's gonna be there for years to come. We LOVE it! read more

Nice family run place. It is family food. Personal service and they are great people. And the food is great!! I absolutely love the green chili burro. When I stop in town I grab a few containers to have because the flavor is perfect and it has a little heat to get the blood pumping! You will not regret stopping and eating here. Best green chile burro. You know how most places state green chile, you order it, and what you get is three gristly cubes of mystery meat in a thin green sauce? This isn't that.
