I have always had a good experience here and this past weekend was no exception. I was with a group of 6 and as far as I could tell each of us was very happy with our meal. I started with a cup of their loaded baked potato soup- very good. Had lots of bacon in it. Main course was the spinach salad with grilled chicken. Also very tasty. The dressing was applied in just the right amount. My husband got their steak special- fortunately he shared some with me. That was fantastic. Met an old coworker here for lunch. It was quite a hopping place. Plenty of staff to cover the crowd. We were able to order and received our food piping hot. Burger was great. Fry portion was a bit small but honestly probably the right size! There are a couple different rooms so you can have a more restaurant experience or bar experience. Had an amazing experience here tonight! We got there at 6:30 and were seated immediately and Patsy, came to greet us with waters and was super friendly! The music was good, the house salad was honestly one of the best house salads I've ever had, the asparagus was perfectly cooked with what tasted like almost a sweet teriyaki style sauce and the fish was perfectly battered and portioned. Nice bar to hang out at. Came here for lunch. They had outdoor seating as well as lots of indoor seating. Our Waitress was very good and attentive. We each ordered the tavern burger. Went after art fair, so was bustling! Huge space, very eclectic bar type restaurant. Sat in the bar as the wait was quite long for a table on patio or indoors. Had a cherry lime drop cocktail - a bit too sweet but refreshing all the same! For entree tried the Cobb Salad with blackened chicken. This was really good and quite a large serving. The chicken was nice and soooo tender, cooked to perfection. Great seasoning. Couldn't finish my salad, which is rare for me! Overall a fantastic value for the volume and quality. Would get this again! The wait staff was terrific here. Very attentive to our wobbly table, and had several people check on us. There are so many reasons to love this place. It's in downtown Belleville, seems like most of the street has old city charm, the building is awesome, from the bar to the big room in the back. The staff is awesome, most have been there for a while so they're ready to help if you can't decide on what to get. As for the menu, there is something for everyone !!! Met up with past employees for dinner and drinks. I've never patronized businesses in downtown Belleville. Free parking lots throughout the area. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a space close to the restaurant Outdoor and indoor seating were available. Not many folks were practicing social distancing. I ordered Sangria (You can choose white or red wine. It was tasty. My entree was huge spinach salad with blueberries, mandarin oranges and walnuts. Thankfully the salad wasn't overwhelmed by the dressing. Protein adds are available but I opted not to add meat. My only gripe was at the end if the evening, walking solo back to my car. We met Mark the owner, and he gave us a tour of the place. There's a wonderful spot in the back for a private party where they could close the doors and you could have privacy for 18 to 50 people. If we have something like that, in our future, I would definitely book it. You do have to be careful for lunch. The burgers are third best in the area behind 1st ST in O'Fallon and Eckerts Farm (only had one at the Cider House, sooo.) I think I need to clarify that ToM is just "that place," it never fails and I want it to be my "go to place," but it's always just the "never fails to please" place!
