Steak and Cheese Sandwich
Antonio S.

Dinner at Tavern on 7 in Norwalk was good. I had the Steak and Cheese sandwich. Thinly sliced steak was cooked perfectly. Tender and good flavor. It does come with caramelized onions, could have used more onions in the steak. Topped with melted Swiss cheese. I asked to have the cheese mixed and melted within the steak, they didn't do it. They melt it on top of the steak, could have been melted more. Love that they serve it with a side of Au jus. Also comes with a side of fries. Unfortunately my fries were served room temp. I have had fries here before they are amazing when they come out freshly made. Started with the French Onion Soup.... It was alright. Soup could use more flavor (pepper or something) and they put 1 slice of cheese on it. Kind of takes away the whole cheesy essence of this dish. We also had the nachos for the table... good dish for sharing. The other dishes at the table were enjoyed as well. One of my guests had the steak and shrimp entree. Looked amazing. He said it was very good. The menu offers some other great options. I would definitely explore this menu more. Laidback spot, very sports bar atmosphere. Seems like a great vibe to watch sports and chill with friends. Also a great spot for a last minute family dinner. Best part of the night was the service. It wasn't necessarily busy when we got there but it started to pick up pace as the night went on. We started at the bar for drinks... bar staff were friendly and great. However, our server at the table was amazing (wish I knew her name, young girl). She was friendly, efficient throughout the night, we never had to wait long for anything and she was super personable. Overall we had a good evening. I would definitely come back to try out more menu options and for a chill night and a sports event. I recommend stopping by for a bite and trying it for yourself. Buon Appetito! #fairfieldcountywineanddinejournal

Unexpected delight! We stopped here on a rainy day to wait out traffic on the Merritt and we're pleasantly surprised. I didn't have high expectations but the hospitality and food delivered. We were seated indoors right away - and on the way to our table the waitress picked up crayons and coloring sheets for the kids. If you're a parent of toddlers, you know how a coloring activity can placate hungry little people :) The menu had a bit more variety than I expected - and we were all able to find something we wanted. Chicken wings were perfectly mild, kids' quesadillas were yummy (although they enjoyed the fries most!), and my crab cake was delicious. I also ordered a coconut mojito which was super refreshing, however, there was very little trace of it being an adult beverage! Our server was kind and helpful - and we enjoyed waiting out the rain watching the river from our window seat. All in all, I can see us coming by here again!

This place is in the right spot on Route 7 as I decided to stop by watch the wildcard weekend footballs game. A perfectly relaxed sports bar to watch your games. The bar had a great vibe with a lot of soccer decorations and team posters telling me they host soccer games too. The beer and food are basic and good in value. The had a decent selection of brews on the tap. I ordered the nachos to go with beer and they were a bit stale. However, overall it turned out a delightful experience and would definitely stop by on a different game day.

Excellent value for the quality of the food & drinks. TV screens are excellent for viewing sports. Only suggestion is that they televise soccer matches as it would bring in more business...

I' love coming here. Such a nice chill local vibe. Drinks haven gotten better , the owner checks on his staff and customers. Love the food here. Highly recomend

Food was ready fast, easy pickup. The wing quality was just ok, a little rubbery, not great meat. Inferno sauce was pretty good but would have liked it spicier. Also tried the steak salad. The salad part was very good, as was the dressing, but the meat was kind of disappointing. It was overcooked (medium well-ish, well done at the ends) and a number of pieces had some chewy fat on them.

Great happy hour, super friendly staff and a low key atmosphere. Boneless chicken wings were spicy and delicious.

What a great place to spend the evening with family and friends! The food was really impressive…read more The staff made us feel like we were at home and added so much to making our night out memorable.

We went there tonight during my stepdaughter's hockey practice. We ordered nachos with chili,…read moremozzarella sticks, three orders of wings, and a burger. The nachos were the only decent thing we got, but they were slightly on the cold side. The wings took about 45 minutes to come out and we're cold to the touch, as well as very small with little meat on them. Lastly, the burger came out about ten minutes after the wings which was also ice cold AND missing two of the main toppings listed in the description. Sodas took 20 minutes to get- and even then they were left on the bar, my husband noticed and went up to get them himself. We asked for refills which never came. The mozzarella sticks were gross, and arrived with the salsa meant for our nachos instead of marinara. Like what!?! The nachos also didn't come with the sour cream & guac as the description in the menu noted. I understand the place was very busy, but it was definitely under staffed, with pretty terrible staff. Even when our server wasn't busy, she was literally standing behind the bar on her phone instead of checking in with her tables. I heard another table complain about their burger being really cold too.

SONO! So Yes! Donovan's has been around for a very long ass time! Yup! What I write here won't…read moremake a difference BUT I am being honest. 1. The staff: smiles, warmth and energetic. Our waitress Melissa was everything you want. Attentive,,smiles and friendly. 2. The Food: My burger was cooked just the way I asked: medium. The taste was great! I did have blue cheese and the burger flavor was not diminished and shined. The blue cheese was authentic, real and vieny! My wife had the salmon burger and thought it was very good. Gave it a 88. 3. The cost: decent! 16 for blue cheese burger. My only dissatisfaction was the lemonade: it tasted like. powdered mix concoction. They should use real lemonade made from lemons. Add 1.09 to price. would be worth it. When in SONO, don't forget to go to the little train museum on the same street. "Sono Switchtower Museum". Free and well worth the visit if you have kids who like or love trains. Adults too! Fascinating! would be a 5 stars if real lemonade

Nice kitchen was ready food came right out and we were served! No issues. We all got burgers of various degree of "cookness" ha ha ha. All were actually on point. Hats off to the chef on this one. I wanted med rare and the other two were Med and well. I was worried that mine would be overcooked!! So I asked for Rare. And guess what. We all actually got what we asked for. Ha ha ha. Fries and onion rings. Yummy! Service was friendly and prices were fine. I will continue to visit this place!!! Yes!!!! Two thumbs up!!!

First time coming to this bar and will have to say this is a hidden gem. Michaela was at the bar…read moreand she did an amazing job. She kept conversation going, was quick with the drinks and made sure we got our food order right before the kitchen closed. I came in not knowing the wings are on sale, so I opted in for the garlic Parmesan and the Nashville hot dry rub. These wings are definitely on my top 5 places to go for wings! They were full of meat, flavor and were very crispy! We also got the strawberry limeade which came with sour patch strawberries. I will definitely come back as the vibes were chill and the service was great

My sons and I are in search for hidden wing gems throughout the state. Yes, we love J.Tim's,…read moreappreciate the local flair of O-Joe's (both locations), and even admire the smoked wings in an around Torrington. Someone gave me the tip to try these as he thought they would "compete" with the aforementioned. For the first 5 min of my visit, I thought it might be the case. Here are the reasons to ABSOLUTELY GO!!!!! Even if a 30-45 min drive. 1) SERVICE - simply fantastic. Huge thanks to Destiny and the kitchen for making my experience great. 2) ATMOSPHERE - THIS IS the place I want to come to watch the games, for the long haul in the fall or playoff time! Great lighting. Music gives way to the game. Locals. Golf and bowling games. You name it. Fantastic. 3) THEIR BLUE CHEESE - unique. Delicious. Clearly house made. Makes the wing experience better. Here are the reasons I would only go if convenient: 1) THE FOOD - My chili to start only said beef chili on the menu. On first bite, there was a stinging salty taste of BACON. I have no problem eating bacon, but should say it on the menu for those who do not. And, that flavor profile is not what chili evokes. 2) THE WINGS - when the blue cheese and veggies came out, I was almost hyperventilating with excitement. The wings then came. Huge let down. Without going into the subtleties of the sauces, I'm more focused on deciding if they were frozen-pre-breaded wings or fresh wings with a salty/shake and bake coating on them. They're huge. They're crispy (kitchen is good). They're just not a traditional wing (should also say coated on the menu). 3) THEIR OIL - one of my wings was a delicious lemon pepper dry rub. So much promise. So crispy. Then, the flavor transfer hit. They must have fried fish on the menu. Same/old fry oil So my wings without a sauce (dry rub) tasted faintly of fried cod. Gross. I will go back. I liked the staff and feel enough. It could be fun. But it's not the hidden wing Mecca I will continue to search for. Service, feel, blue cheese earn all the stars.

Hockey season is back and I'm back for all the food and drinks!…read more Elliot & Angel are so kind, super friendly and professional. I enjoy talking to them when they're not super busy and they're always serving amazing food and slinging awesome drinks (beers, cocktails and mocktails). I enjoy their breakfast. Eggs are cooked to perfection. Their breakfast bowl I had was awesome. I don't like my food touching so I asked for everything to be individually served. The tots were crispy, chili is awesome! Usually the breakfast bowl is all of the above layered in a bowl. Get it! You won't be sorry. The breakfast burrito is pretty hearty. It has eggs, cheese and potatoes wrapped in a flour tortilla. I've had their breakfast sandwich on a hard roll and it's probably one of the best breakfast sandwich (egg, cheese, bacon) I've ever had. For lunch and dinner they have many options since it's a bar & grill. I personally love their chicken Caesar salad (you can get it in a wrap too). The chicken is so moist and seasoned to perfection and grilled nicely. My son practices here three times a week so he grabs dinner to eat in the car and he enjoys the kids menu options. They're located on the second floor of SoNo Ice House. Ambiance is a chill vibe with music loud enough to hear but you can still hear your friends during conversations. The tables are seated by the window so you can see your kid(s) play/practice. It's clean. Has a full bar, full kitchen and booth seating as well. They also have a private party room for rent and they'll cater it as well. So many great things to say about this establishment. Shoutout to Jackie, their new server this season.
