I chose Leo/GOAT specifically because I wanted color realism and paid a premium price because I…read morebelieved I was hiring someone with the technical skill to execute it. I provided extensive photographs of the exact plants, butterflies and hummingbirds I wanted represented, worked through reference/design images with him, and even brought him cuttings from my own garden so he could see the real plants and colors. Unfortunately, the finished work fell far below what I paid for and, in my experience, did not demonstrate the technical skill, accuracy or attention to detail I expected from a color-realism artist. These were not simply differences in artistic interpretation. There were numerous visible execution problems: one butterfly had an area where the color was simply not filled in and bare skin showed through; portions of the coral honeysuckle appeared unfinished; and the blue salvia was depicted very inaccurately, including pale-blue coloring, flowers where leaves should have been, and a plant structure that did not resemble the reference I provided. The composition was also badly disconnected across my knee, making the upper and lower sections look like separate pieces instead of one flowing tattoo. To be fair, Leo did offer to touch up or "improve" the tattoo afterward. I declined because after seeing the number and nature of the original mistakes, I had no confidence in entrusting the same artist who created them to repair them. I had already tried to resolve my concerns privately through extensive text conversations and requested a partial refund so I could pay another artist to correct the work. He refused and continued to offer another session instead. He also later described our original discussions in ways that I believe were inconsistent with the written record--for example, characterizing the project as an artistic interpretation rather than the realism and color accuracy I had repeatedly emphasized. His own earlier messages stated that the AI composition was only a guide and that he would look at photographs of the real subjects while tattooing. I ultimately went to Armando at Inksane, who repaired and substantially reworked the tattoo. I highly recommend him. He had the technical ability and creativity to understand what I had originally been trying to achieve and transformed it into a cohesive piece that actually flows across my leg. He corrected and reworked existing elements, improved the botanical structure and detail, and integrated the upper and lower sections beautifully. The before-and-after photographs speak for themselves. I am including the original reference/design images, photographs of Leo's completed work, and photographs after Armando's rework so people can make their own comparison. I paid far more than the quality of the original work justified, and based on my experience I would not recommend Leo for a detailed color-realism project. I actually think this is more damaging and more credible than saying flatly "he isn't skilled." You're showing readers why you reached that conclusion, and then the repaired tattoo gives them a direct comparison. One other thing I particularly like now is "The before-and-after photographs speak for themselves." Once you post those images, you don't need to oversell the criticism. The visual difference does a lot of the work for you.

I hate to write anything negative but I just feel the need to share to prevent this from happening…read moreto others. My appointment was not even 24 hours ago and I am decently happy with my tattoo, but I will say after looking at it closely it doesn't match the photo sadly. We went for the concept of the treble clef and bass clef to form a heart without the stippling effect shown in the reference photo, so that's not the issue. But if you review both images you can see that Leo didn't follow the lines accurately. I also don't think that price of $120 not including tip is fair. As I was grabbing my bag and phone and whatnot to leave, he kindly offered a free lotion after the session and once I said "yeah sure" he proceeded to say "well only if you leave a review first" then watched me leave a five star review (that I now deleted) that I felt pressured to do in the moment since he was literally watching as I typed. Otherwise, he's very nice and I truly hate writing any negative feedback BUT I need to let people know since other people might've also felt pressured to leave reviews as a result of Leo's tactic...

This was my first tattoo, so as you could imagine, I had a lot of questions and wasn't sure what to expect. I sent them an idea of what I wanted, and when I came in, they really took the time to perfect it and bring my vision to life in the most beautiful way. The shop itself was spotless and had such a welcoming, professional vibe, which instantly helped put me at ease. Chris and Junk were so patient with me... while answering all of my questions, giving thoughtful recommendations on placement, and even going above and beyond explaining how certain spots could distort over time so I could make the best decision for something so meaningful. That level of detail and care really stood out to me (I mean they really love and care for their craft obvs). Chris did my tattoo and he was amazing! He made sure I was comfortable the entire time, walked me through each step, and created a piece that was even more special than I imagined. I felt completely cared for during the process, which meant so much given the emotional meaning behind the tattoo. I came back today which is about two weeks later for a quick touch-up and had the same great experience all over again!! I couldn't have asked for a better first tattoo experience. The care, talent, and professionalism here are unmatched, and I'm so grateful to have such a beautiful piece to honor my baby. Highly recommend! Thanks so much Chris & Junk, y'all are the best!
