Menards is more oriented toward the needs of construction professionals. Everything that a contractor might need in the way of paint, electrical, plumbing, roofing and lumber is typically in stock. I rehab older houses and these usually involve extensive rewiring and plumbing tasks, so Menards is where I go first for construction materials. Unless you are looking for cheap Chinese made lighting and plumbing fixtures, I don't recommend any of the big three home improvement chains. If you want quality, your best option is to search the internet or visit specialty vendors for items like high end lighting, plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, and granite countertops. But that takes you out of the range of what DIYer can reasonably handle.

The were all in contact multiple times with us. They actually involved the cabinet representative and scheduled a trip to my home to go over my concerns. They are standing behind their product, well them and the cabinet manufacturer. Yes, there are a few things I believe I should have been refunded or gotten some kind of credit for, because due to misinformation, I am now out well over $500 that was unplanned. I believe some of that could have been handled way better, but overall am still pretty impressed with how it was handled. Would definitely recommend them and am absolutely considering them for when I start the remainder of our home remodel.

Brought him back to fix it. Eventually he blamed the store for selling us a door which was the wrong size for the opening. I had to hire another contractor to reinstall. When I called the store's owner to enquirer about voiding any warranty on the door, he became angry and told me it had nothing to do with him. Wow. One of the worst experiences ever. As a female, it's always intimidating when a man gets angry, even if it's over the phone. Bottom line, this business and his recommended contractor failed to measure properly. I'm out over $1500 dollars to fix their mistakes. Upset doesn't begin to cover how we feel. Use them if you must. I never will again.

They are also a full service lumber yard, and have free local delivery, which we've taken advantage of quite often. And the order has always been correct--never pieces missing, and always delivered first thing in the a.m, sometimes before you're even awake! That's VITALLY important when you compare shop with places like Home Depot and Lowe's, who DO charge a delivery fee and keep you waiting around for a window of 8 am to 2 pm....when you want to get a project done, you want to get started!!!!

The lack of communication for those responsible with contacting the customer is inexcusable. If you're not able to complete a job, let someone know and do the right thing.
