We come here to buy some fertilizer for our bushes after costco, walk in, and get the cart, try to find the garden center, took us a while, then you need to pass a close door to go to the garden center and the door is not automatic, when you push a cart, you need another person to open the door for you. After we got what we need, although there is check out sign at the garden center, but it's not in operation. We will need to go back to where we come in. This time, i try to push the button so the door will open automatically. But to my surprise, the button leads to the big garage kind of door moving up. How you perceive Menards (and Home Depot and Lowes) depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Home Depot caters to the DIY home owner. It has limited selection and generally carries low end fixtures from China. Lowes has a somewhat better selection for items like tile and lighting and it has the best selection in lawn and garden during the Spring planting season. Menards is more oriented toward the needs of construction professionals. Everything that a contractor might need in the way of paint, electrical, plumbing, roofing and lumber is typically in stock. I rehab older houses and these usually involve extensive rewiring and plumbing tasks, so Menards is where I go first for construction materials. Unless you are looking for cheap Chinese made lighting and plumbing fixtures, I don't recommend any of the big three home improvement chains. If you want quality, your best option is to search the internet or visit specialty vendors for items like high end lighting, plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, and granite countertops. But that takes you out of the range of what DIYer can reasonably handle. read more

I've never been one to write a review. I typically just read others. But this is one of the worst experiences I've had at any store in a long time. We came in looking for mulch. We eventually found what we were looking for, but what we couldn't find was anybody to help us. It took about 20 minutes and being told by other employees to go talk to someone else before we got someone to write a ticket for our order. The employee who processed our order at the front was not particularly friendly. We were given vague directions about where to go to pick up the mulch, and eventually found somewhere that felt incorrect but worked good enough- no worker was there to tell us where to go. We had to load all of the mulch ourselves. We looked around for an employee to help- no luck. We weren't able to pull right up, so we had to carry each individual bag to the truck. Alone, because there was nobody around to help. In the process of loading the mulch, my sister reinjured her back. The store was clean. That's about the only nice thing I can say. The customer service was bad and frankly there was not much to even be found. I will not be returning here. read more

My wife and I made a trek to Menards today. Before I headed out, I called and made sure indoor asked if they had a certain item in stock. Now I understand that there are new people in every job. I also understand there are idiots in every freaking job. But today, this individual took it to a whole new level, and this is also another place. I will not return. Mind you, while there was a long line for the one and only open register, there looked to be three managers just standing around and talking at the customer service counter watching the long line form. The reason I say Menards is the worst of all hardware stores! The one thing I find done really well at Menards is full refunds. A matter of fact, I had a broken part on a fan that I bought it was broke when I opened the box. They had two more broken ones there. the part I needed was good, but they wouldn't exchange that part, they would rather send three fans back instead of 2. I had six keys made in their kiosk same day . None of them worked. They're quick to get full refunds. But for the life of them, they can't provide good service or product. Brand spanking new location which rivals that of the second newest in Mason. It might be slightly bigger, but layout is the same. I've had great experiences at other occasions so had to check it out! For Menards newbies this is a much different take on the home improvement store. Sure they have the staples like lighting, paint, outdoor etc but add in other things such as food, huge pet section, kitchenwares, and even clothing/toys in small quantities. They have great regular prices, so sales on top of those are even better. Keep your eye on the weekly ads for 11% off everything sales and rebates (sent back to you in form of store credit). There's always something new! The staff at the new location, was helpful and friendly. They were fabulously knowledgeable this being a new store and all. While I was there a crazy storm blew up, lightning poss struck the building and power went out to backup generators. Like that new store smell? Check out this new Menards, located in Florence, KY. This is actually the first Menards I have visited. It is a little crazy. Think big box hardware store, but with a whole pet department, snack/boxed food area, small selection of men's clothing, mattresses... the list goes on. There is even a drive throgh lumber and stone yard. Being a new store, there are some obvious growing pains. On our first visit, we tried to get some information about kitchen cabinets. The woman working in the section wasn't really able to answer our questions. Her answer to a lot of our questions was "I don't know that." We are thankful she told us she didn't know rather than making something up. We waited around for another employee who she said could answer our questions. After an approximately 30 minute wait, we decided to leave. We returned a few days later. We were then able to find someone who could help answer our kitchen cabinet questions. Something that is a little different from your average big box store is that many of Menards deep discounts are actually store rebates. These rebates have to be mailed in. Customers then receive a Menards Gift Card as the rebate. read more

Wow, horrible customer experience! It started when I was very rudely stopped from entering the store by a "greeter" because I did not have a mask. The attitude was condescending and the "greeter" made me feel like I was in 4th grade. Seeing how this was the first time I heard about their corporate mask policy a friendlier approach would have been nice. Who knows maybe the greeter is pissed because other people get pissed when they're talked down to and then asked to pony up a buck to buy a facemask? Would be nice if Menards could provide these comp like most stores during these uncertain times, but I digress. The cherry on top of this crap sundae of an experience was that I was then told, very rudely again mind you, that I could not bring in my child and would have to come back later. Sorry, not going to do this, my time is limited and I'm not going to bend over backward to give Menards my money. So here's what I did, I saved a dollar and my SANITY and went to Home Depot. I cannot recommend this enough, they have friendlier employees, no getting stopped at the door and told to pay a $1 cover charge, oops sorry mask fee to enter, and they didn't treat my kid like a pet rat. By the way, I dropped $500 on a DeWalt table saw when I was there, glad Menards stopped me from doing that in their store. You all just lost a customer for life, I'll never forget how my family was treated. Just go to HOME DEPOT Told us we couldn't bring our dog in but watched two non-service dogs walk in behind us. Bought a lawn mower, got home an hour later and wouldn't start. Brought it back to the store and the team member at the service desk, lied and said we couldn't exchange or return the mower if we had already put gas in it. Called the manger and got the exchange, thankfully. Still a waste of time and not dependable. Not a good flow to the store, can only purchase or return at other ends of the store. I am a business manager of almost 30 years and have seen the decline of So many businesses especially in this area but when we walked in to this Menards it immediately struck us how clean, organized and well-stocked it is! I generally like Menards. They carry more of what I've looked for than Lowe's or Home Depot. Their staff, though, is generally not knowledgeable - and often not available. I never shop in the paint store here anymore; the clerks are completely unable to answer questions and are rude when asked. My most recent experience taught me that, if you want anything delivered, it may cost as much as the item you purchased. I live less than 3 miles away, and it was going to cost $90 for delivery (the item was $115). And again, they - as well as the online customer service folks) are rude and flippant when dealing with issues. I opted to shop at another similar store that has free delivery. Also, don't fall for the prices online that include a rebate. You can't take the rebate if you order online. Their advertising is very deceptive, intentionally so , I would imagine. read more

I will be very blunt . The employee are beyond incompetent. On 3 separate occasions my fiancé and I have ordered items using their app. every time we go to pick up the item we are told the wrong information . We are told told stop at the customer service desk , the the pro desk , then back to the front desk. The latest means last attempted purchase was a pellet smoker . we ordered and paid online , went to pick it up . The representative gave us a paper with the order number etc . Then they told us to go to the pro desk to pick up . We did and we redirected. We were told to drive around back with the form. We attempted to gain access yet we we're denied as the form was not a gate pass. Then sent us back inside . We spent over 1 he trying to figure out how to pick the smoker up. Absolute worst God forsaken place Ive ever been in! I had an issue that involed my bank! That was August 2020. Got a letter from my bank dated October 30 by mail TODAY NOBEMBER 9 2020 that it was settled in favour of Menards! We have went to this Menards which is an hour and a half away from us because the website said that they had all of the lumber we needed in stock, went to pay for the lumber and then started to pick our lumber out, just to find out that the high school kids that work there were being funny on switching out the lumber and putting it in the wrong spots, during our scavenger hunt for our lumber that we have paid for the kids kept riding the forklifts around over their speed limit didn't even ask once if we needed help or nothing, once we were able to compromise for the lumber we needed we went to the lumber desk and have explained that we were there for an hour trying to find the right lumber, they have told us to go to the guard and have them give us a refund and switch out the lumber we got, come to find out the guard doesn't work for Menards and couldn't do anything for us, and told us to go to the service desk went to the service desk and spent double the money on the lumber we had to switch out. I am really not happy that we had to pay double the price for the lumber when it wasn't our fault that the high school kids that work there decided to mess around and switch out the lumber. DO not purchase LVP from Quality Craft here. Neither the store nor Quality Craft honors the warranties that are all over the boxes of LVP. We purchased LVP from Quality Craft here about 3 years ago, within 6 months started noting issues with it peeling up. By 3 years it is a mess. It had a "life time warranty." That is a joke, we did the claim, tried to resolve it with the store and the company. BTW I have never before reviewed any company harshly, but there is a reason there is not reviews on their store site. The flooring company, Quality Craft, sent a contractor to look at flooring paid by them, his report said that as our floor was not level to 1/8 inch (no one has perfectly level floors to that degree.) then reported it as an install error therefore, they didn't have to honor any of warranty. Box said, hided minor floor imperfections, and is an easy DIY job. It was easy to install, per directions. We did follow those directions. Turns out there is extra fine print inside box that states these unreasonable standards. We had multiple contractors look at floor and all were shocked that the warranty was declined and the poor quality of floor. Buyer beware. If your floor is PERFECTLY level, feel free to buy. Otherwise, plan to use glue and/or plan to replace the floor in the first few years. Unreasonable and deceptive packaging for a defective product. Sad and costly experience for us. Will never shop here again, nor should you. Oh btw another flooring inspector recommended that I go to store and throw a loud tantrum so they would "throw $500 at me to get me to leave." I did not do that. All I can do is warn you all here. read more
