    a menu for seafood combinations
    Mike B.

I was really excited to check this place out due to the significant amount of high reviews, but I just can't really recommend it based off of what I ordered. I got one of the seafood bags which had shrimp, snow crab claws, potatoes, and sausage in it. The shrimp were not quite as fresh as one would hope for, or maybe they were overcooked... I'm not quite sure. Several of the shrimp I ordered were a bit mushy/off texture wise after peeling. The snow crab claws were also disappointing. The meat was not plump and juicy. I can't exactly put my finger on it... but with snow crab claws being one of my favorite foods, I've had some really good ones and some really mediocre ones. This unfortunately was the latter. The mussels to me... didn't taste unfresh... but were so aggressively briney that I ate 1 and thought that maybe I just got an off mussel. I ate a second one to confirm and then just stopped eating them all together. So out of the whole seafood bag... I probably enjoyed the potatoes and sausage the most ( but wasn't really interested in filling up on sausage because I keep a low sodium diet). Then... if that bag wasn't disappointing enough... I went to fill myself up on rice and the rice just wasn't even really of high quality or cooked right. Yikes. I definitely finished the meal asking myself... how fresh this seafood was... and the implications of if it wasn't. Luckily nothing made me sick or anything. But I did feel a bit downtrodden after spending so much money on a meal that I was quite excited for... but didn't live up to expectations to say the least. Unfortunately, if I went to Lake Anna again... I wouldn't likely find myself at the Tasty Crab. I really wish I could say otherwise.

Four stars for the good combo of price point, service and tastiness. I was looking for lunch when I passed this place and quickly realized this was what I wanted, deep down inside. The crab cake was tasty, as were my Cajun fries. My server was friendly and was very proud how they give large portions. This is something of a no-frills experience, but for a small place in a vacation area it's a great stop.

Fantastic seafood and Asian restaurant at Lake Anna. We ordered spring rolls and 2 boils. Everything was fresh and delicious. Shrimp were nice and plump, sausage was good, crab was great. A great experience overall!

I've tried everything else and knew Q Noodles is well reviewed but HK is undefeated. We ordered takeout and decided to try a few different things on their menu. I will say the food came correct and the packaging was clean and tidy. The prices are expensive but the portions are huge. We ordered 2 apps and 2 entrees and couldn't finish all of it. 1 of each is enough for 2 people. The pork steamed buns were our favorite. Not the best I've had ever, but possibly the best in cville. The bun was super light and fluffy and the filling was savory. I prefer mine to be a bit sweeter with a BBQ flavor, so not my all time fav but very good. 8/10 The egg rolls were just fine. Well prepared and cooked. Tasted slightly too oily. The inside was cabbage and either ground pork or chicken. No carrot. The inside was so finely minced it kinda turned into a mush. So the texture was not the best. Hard to distinguish the flavor as well. 5/10 The sesame paste noodles with ground pork was presented beautifully with red cabbage, cucumber, edamame, corn, shredded carrot and cilantro. I think the sesame paste sauce was just too one dimensional, but maybe that's the point. The noodles were overdone so underneath the beautiful rainbow of toppings was just kind of a pile of mushy noodles in a plain sesame paste. After a few bites the earthiness/mushiness of the dish starts to be overwhelming ... not my favorite. 4/10 The general tsos was packaged well and came with white rice a few pieces of steamed brocolli and a ramen egg. The ramen egg was good. The general tsos the chicken was good quality and very fresh. It reminded me of an orange chicken in terms of how their GT tastes. My favorite GT in cville is from Hong Kong and unfortunately this one wasn't as good. The chicken was good quality but the texture was quite soft and not crispy the way I prefer. The sauce was also a bit too sweet for my preference. Overall, a good dish it is enjoyable just not my fav. 6/10 With how much hype they get I was expecting a bit more - perhaps at some point I will try their soup dumplings since they may be the only place in cville that does them. But for $13 for 6 pieces I may just continue to wait awhile considering the rest of their food was fairly average. Overall, a solid spot for average Chinese food. Nothing amazing but will satisfy a craving for well made Chinese food if you are looking in the uva area.

As is often the case on this arcade, the restaurant also has a dedicated set of outdoor seats at the middle of the brick walkway. You'd think all of this would be an upgrade, but no. First, I ordered in advance online to spare myself a wait, not knowing that it was an actual sit-down restaurant. However, upon arriving at the space, there was no one to take an order if I'd wanted to place one, and only rarely did anyone emerge from the back with food. I just took a seat and waited. By the time someone acknowledges my presence after some fifteen or twenty minutes, my food was apparently already ready and just sitting there. I didn't leave a tip as my impression of this place was that they weren't really providing any service. There's nothing wrong with a counter service model rather than full table service, but one way or another they seem not to have figured out what they were doing. Other potential diners also seemed confused. Don't get me wrong, the good was great. My ginger lemongrass noodle soup delivered an explosion of flavors. Would order again. I just hope they improve the customer service experience, because this is a great opportunity for the average local to try some vegetarian Vietnamese food.

Also this was our first time checking out the new location but we've always gotten vegan pho from here, it's so good! My girlfriend jokes that it's magical because eating it when she's sick always seems to make her feel instantly better.

The food came out a little bit slow despite the restaurant not being full, which contributed to us eating less than I expected to during the 90 min res. But, for AYCE the food quality definitely beat my expectations. Would skip the crispy garlic rice as it was pretty plain and the souffle pancake (honestly more sponge cake than souffle?). I've heard the Braised Beef Lu is good so I'd come back to try that next time. If you're looking for a modern asian brunch/lunch spot, definitely recommend checking out this restaurant!
