Lin's has been cooking good Chinese food for Caroline County for years. It has been a go-to place for us throughout the years. When I was a manager at the FL in Ladysmith, I would do the afternoon/evening temp check in the store on Christmas Day and we would get Lin's for our dinner! Never ordering from this place ever again in my entire life. First of all, the food is already bland and the only reason I have ordered here is because it's the only Chinese option. But after tonight, never again. I ordered what I thought was noodles aka chow mein, then got home and realized it was all vegetables. I drove all the way back, told them what happened and the lady says "we can't exchange it because we would lose profit." Understandable but jeez, if I made a mistake ordering why not just exchange it since it clearly wasn't what I thought it was and I don't like it? Thats what a normal business would do that wants returning customers. The other person with the review before was right... customer service is terrible. Only good food I have gotten there was the egg rolls which look pre made at a factory or their spicy dumplings. The rest Panda can beat.

Almost the worst, therefor I've given it 2 stars because I have actually eaten slightly worse Chinese food. Nothing here is great and a lot of it isn't even good. The spicy dumplings are the best thing I've found so far. Their entrees are all bleh. You can tell they buy frozen from a low grade food distributor and don't make their sauces in-house. If you want quality Chinese food go check out Chen's Restaurant off of Nuckols Rd in Glen Allen. read more

This is the best Chinese food I've ever had. I have been eating here for about 7 years. There is no better egg rolls and the chicken wings are amazing the best I've had. I also love the fried rice with general tos sauce on top amazing. The crab Rangoon's taste amazing also the chicken on a stick is great. You have to try this place you won't be disappointed. The food is always fresh and for all that food I got I only payed $35 what a deal. I go somewhere else and pay $60 for the same amount. read more

What a great find! Was visiting a friend and we wanted Chinese carryout for dinner and she said this was the place and she was right!!! You can only get carry out and you have to call it in before coming as they won't let you order at the restaurant. They have quite the system setup in this restaurant. First, after you walk in you see a great big plexiglass wall in front of you. There is a slot for payment and the staff behind the wall have headsets. Gave them my friend's phone number, verified the order through the glass, gave them my credit card, and paid for the food. Then they provided me my receipt and a pen to sign the merchant receipt. Then they put the bag of food on a special shelf where they slide the door closed and you open it from the other side and get your food. The staff was super nice and friendly. Now onto the food..... We got spring rolls, egg rolls, and shrimp rolls. The shrimp rolls were egg rolls with shrimp, but it was fine because I can't find "real" egg rolls in Northern Virginia!!! We got dumplings in a spicy, tangy sauce, and the house special soup. Both were very good and seasoned well. For entrees, we got the crispy beef and triple saute. The crispy beef was good and tasty. Wasn't expecting the broccoli on the bottom, but that just gave us some vegetables. The triple saute had shrimp, scallops and, chicken with mixed vegetables in a hot special sauce. The sauce was good and had a little kick to it and was very good. Make sure if you want soy sauce, duck sauce, or hot mustard, that you pick up those packets before leaving the restaurant. They do not include those sauces for you. Really good fast Chinese food and I highly recommend a visit here if you are looking for Chinese food in the area. read more

Without a doubt, I can say I've had better Chinese take out. Lin's Gourmet was anything but. We were driving through the area looking for a quick place to eat. We saw the 4 star rating and figured it was better than stopping by a fast food joint. In hindsight, fast food would have been better. We ordered the shrimp lo-mein, triple delight (it was actually called something slightly different, but essentially is what everyone else calls triple delight, i.e.- shrimp, chicken, beef with vegetables), and shrimp with broccoli. Even though we ordered to eat-in, everything was packaged to-go. That just makes my needles on my enviro-meter instrument cluster go haywire. The 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse Recycle) is supposed to help your bottom line. Anyway, I'm not docking any points off for that, since they did seem to figure out how to recycle the 5-gallon bottled water dispenser by filling it with tap water. Though I can't normally tell or care to tell the difference between bottled water and tap water, I could tell easily it was tap water. But hey, I'm actually a proponent of tap water. It's a water cooler and the water was cold. Thumbs up for that. I do begin to take away stars for the quality of the food. Shrimp lo-mein was a-okay. The noodles is what I expected, but the small shrimp was a little bit too soft/mushy. Otherwise a-okay. Triple delight was terrible. I already mentioned the small shrimp wasn't that great, the chicken and the beef used is not the kind you buy the from the grocery store. It's some kind of highly processed meat that looks and tastes nothing like the real thing. We didn't even bother finishing the triple delight. It always pains me to leave food, because I always think of the poor starving children, but I think even they would be highly suspect too. LOL. I didn't much care for the carrots in this dish either. They tasted a bit strong and bitter. The biggest turn off had to be the white rice itself. You expect it to be "white" right? Much of the rice appeared to have dark imperfections including one big black piece of "junk". I also noticed one of the small black specks was a tiny gnat or something like that. After seeing that our neighborhood Chinese restaurant in our new area had 4 stars, we were excited to try their food. The people dealing with customers are very polite. Unfortunately the food does not live up to the hype. We have eaten from here 3 times, each time hoping it was a fluke. The first time, the wonton soup was good. The rest of the food was flavorless and over cooked. Last night my husband ordered Szechuan chicken and his sauce tasted and looked like sweet and sour sauce with Tabasco added. Stopped here on my way to Washington D.C.. My initial impression was that this restaurant is like Panda Express. I tried Lo-Mein here. I have tried the same dish at Panda a lot of times. Thank goodness there is a decent Chinese food place in my town. I don't think I could have handled having one Chinese restaurant for miles and having it suck. Lin's makes a mean hot & sour soup and some great dumplings. I'm not too adventurous when it comes to Chinese so I usually get the General Tso's, but that's been pretty good also. Friends of mine have gone here as well and have been very happy with some of the other dishes so overall I don't think you can go wrong with Lin's. HUGE portions! Mega bang for your buck. On our way up to Philly, we stopped by Ladysmith, Virginia off of the highway for a quick bite to eat. Little did we know that this fast food Chinese joint would actually be pretty decent. They have lunch and dinner combos that come with an egg roll and soup; and like I mentioned above, the portions are humongous. They give you so much food, it looked like we didn't even make a dent in it. For about $9, a dinner combo could feed 2-3 people comfortably. The taste was your basic kind of Chinese food. Lin's is okay. I usually order the General Tso's Chicken or the Kung Pow chicken. I would request they cook their food differently as it's not crisp like other places I use to get my cheap chinese food from. Their chicken fried rice...well it's horrible and bland and doesn't have much flavor to it. Though they do make your food quickly, they do not have delivery. They need competition so they aren't the only cheap chinese place around. read more

I placed an order for shrimp fried rice yesterday along with an order for combination lo mein. I was very disappointed with the shrimp fried rice dish - the vegetables in the dish were frozen (peas and carrots) and the rice was undercooked. This is the first time there has been an issue with any order I placed. I've been a customer for 15+ years. I did notice that the young man whose usually at the front counter was not there. We really enjoy Lin's! I've been to plenty of take out chains but this one is better than most. There is more flavor to the food. Suggestion: if you like spicy food ask for extra spicy and tell them not to put the hot spice/oil on the side (they normally do that). It's better mixed in. Standard Chinese joint. They have just about anything you can think of. I stick to the General Tso's of the crispy beef. If you like your food spicy, ask for it extra spicy. Their regular just doesn't do the trick. Bottom line is, it fills my need for chinese food from time to time, and I am glad to have it right down the road. read more

I ordered Shrimp and Broccoli and the food was terrible. I didn't eat it because the Shrimp was over cooked and soggy. The broccoli and sauce had no taste.
