They always seem to take a long time to bring the food but my family would just talk and keep ourselves occupied until the food eventually came. Again, we thought this was the only close Chinese restaurant close by so we put up with it. Well tonight we walk in at 8:07 and were informed we'd have to order to go because the place closed at 9, 53 minutes wasn't enough time for us to dine in so we left. And she didn't look like she cared, just a lackadaisical look for the whole short conversation, like we were bothering her. My personal favorite is the orange chicken. There is not too much orange flavor but just enough and a hint of spice. The staff is lovely. Our waitress was coming over to check on us constantly and was very polite. There is booths and chairs. There is usually some country music playing. It can get loud in there because it's sort of a small space. One little tip is that if you prefer eating with chopsticks you can get them on request. read more

I went to Chef Lee's for dinner this evening and was mad when I left. I was the only person at 4:00. Ordered Orange Beef with the intentions to take most home for lunch tomorrow. The waitress was rude to me when she bought out a hamburger sized box for my to go. I asked for a larger box and said no. She would bring me another hamburger box. She wouldn't bring a box that wouldn't leak. Then she got really rude. I put it into the two small boxes, and the Orange Beef sauce leaked. I asked the owner for a bigger box, and she said no. WTF. I used to order from there for work and it was in a container that would go through an x-ray machine without spilling. For $28. I will not go back. They lost a customer over a Styrofoam box! read more

We placed a large order and were very disappointed. We didn't get the egg rolls we ordered, they gave us zero condiments and no fortune cookies. Also we got moo shu pork and no pancakes or plumb sauce. Had the food been good I would have forgiven all of this but it's pretty bland and tasteless. read more

The food was good. We had Shrimp LoMein and Sweet and Sour Chicken. What I didn't like was the service. I felt our server had an attitude. Also we asked for a togo cup for soda we already had and they wanted to charge us. I also had to ask for my change after I handed the server a cash payment and told her I was going to need the change back. Other than a bleach smell on the scallops it tasted like mildew. And that would be the only flavor the whole dish had. The chicken dish was all fatty and no flavor. The rice was awful. And nothing was cooked correctly at all! Broccoli and snow peas were basically raw. Eggs rolls were like eating an old shoe. First off the ribs were day old and black, second the egg for young was absolutely tasteless and the brown sauce was flower and water. The lo mein was also absolutely tasteless. This was only my second experience with Chef Lee in the 8 years I've lived here and it has only gotten worse. My first experience was with orange chicken; the chicken was ok with the exception of a piece of butchers twine in the meal. This trip was for chicken lettuce wraps; there was too much sauce with little to no flavor and the chicken was over cooked, hard and dry. Chef Lee is a convenient, beautiful restaurant, with good food and even better service. It's on the corner lot of the same strip mall as the Food Lion (if you're facing it, all the way to the right.) I do like the food, and would give it a 4/5 for food...but I had to bump it up because of the great service. This place has amazing servers who care to make sure you feel at home. There is a bar to sit at if you're by yourself and want to chat with owner or manager, and they really do a good job to make sure that you have an enjoyable time. Their restaurant is very pretty, clean, and well lit. My favorite foods here are the egg rolls, egg drop soup, and general Tso's chicken. They have great takeout, and they pack it well for you to take home. This place is enjoyed by tourists, weekenders, and locals alike! read more

This was the only Chinese place within like a 50 mile radius from the lake house I was staying at. And I am SO thankful. Got the fried rice and hot and sour soup - Portion was humongous for both, and both were excellent. - fried rice: needed a little soy sauce but ONLY because I like fried rice a little more salty/flavorful. SO much shrimp and meat and rice. lasted me through dinner and breakfast the next day. 10/10 - hot and sour soup: hit the spot. filled up a small cylinder container which I didn't expect them to give so much. exactly what I expected in terms of taste - would recommend Will come again whenever I visit the area. This place has good Chinese food. I've tried several times and I've never had anything that's too salty or overcooked. My only "complaint" is that sometimes the pepper steak entree has far more onions and peppers than steak. I've tried the egg rolls, fried dumplings (potstickers), chicken lo mein, sweet and sour chicken (really good), pepper steak, sesame chicken, cashew chicken, moo goo gai chicken, General Tso chicken and then something that was a mix of chicken beef and shrimp. All were good and portions are good for the price. It's great for leftovers the next day but the fried rice dries out (not the restaurant's fault and it's always good rice when fresh). The lo mein noodles are thick and have a dense consistency which clearly tells me they are Asian and not Italian noodles. I give three stars only because it's the typical Chinese restaurant offerings without much that's unique. They also don't have fried wantons, crab Rangoon or coconut shrimp which are faves. For COVID purposes, the staff was wearing masks and hand sanitizer was available. I was asked to sign the check with the same pen everyone else uses when picking up dinner to-go. I had a glove on so not a big deal to me but not the best choice. I didn't observe anyone in the dining room so can't comment on social distancing measures. A sign on the door indicated masks are required which I applaud. The staff and woman who took my order over the phone were pleasant and prompt. read more

Yeah... pretty not great. The dumplings had some promise & the shrimp fried rice was definitely close to there. But the duck sauce lacked flavor & definitely could've used a homemade blend. I cannot vouch for the lo mein or sweet & sour chicken, but the sauce for the chicken was thick & yummy - definitely different than I expected! They also have a bar? I checked my numbers before writing this review, because I do not like writing bad reviews. Over the years, I've done 388 reviews on Yelp..... and only 6 have been 1 star. Most of those reviews were because of a service issue, but this one is because of the food. Both my wife and I had the hot and sour soup, which was neither hot nor sour. It wasn't very tasty at all, and oddly thick. I had an egg roll and she had a spring roll. You could actually see burn marks on the bottom of both of them, like they had been heated in a pan after having been fried. I had the chicken egg foo young and my wife the hunan chicken. I'll admit I've never had egg foo young, so maybe this is what it's supposed to be. But it was like a couple of egg omelettes piled on a plate, completely covered (and I mean completely covered, as in literally falling off the side of the plate) with a light brown gravy....like you might see for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I actually like all those things, but it just didn't work in this case. Nothing seemed to be seasoned. As for my wife's hunan chicken, it looked really good when it came out. But the chicken was so salty, she couldn't eat it. I tried it and she was right, it was pretty bad. As for positives, the sides of fried rice that we got with the entrees weren't bad. I have never gone to a Chinese restaurant and not left with a couple take out boxes of leftovers, because they always give you way too much food. But when the server came over and asked if we needed boxes, we both said "no thanks". read more
