Looking through the reviews here, the consensus seems to be 4 stars, but I'm gonna rate it 5 stars based on the 1 experience I had. Usually not something I'm overly comfortable with, rating a place 5 stars based on 1 experience...a food delivery experience as opposed to a sit-down dine-in experience, at that...but I was stuffed at the end of my meal, the price was more than fair, and the food was pretty damn tasty! At work, a friend/co-worker recommended this place, which I had never heard of. Usually, I can resist entreaties to order food to be delivered when I'm working, but I was coming off of a bad migraine, a negative reaction to the medication I have to take for it and was feeling pretty famished. I decided to give Tastee Platters a try. Looked at their on-line menu and gave my co-worker my order, which he was gracious enough to place (I detest the whole rigamarole of on-line ordering). The food arrived pretty quickly. I ordered the chicken platter, which was a large aluminum container of grilled chicken over basmati rice, served with lettuce, tomato, sauteed onions, a slice of pita, all of it slathered in white sauce. Maybe I was even hungrier than I had initially thought because I gobbled everything down to the last grain of rice. I also ordered the banana pudding, which was unusual for me. I like vanilla or rice pudding, and will even order chocolate pudding in a pinch, but I don't think I've ever had banana pudding. And I've got to say-- it was really, really good, smoothly textured and creamy. Maybe too good, as when I had finished everything, I belatedly became aware that I had consumed way, way too much food. Still, I think the 5 star rating is merited. The food was good and plentiful, I didn't pay a lot for what I ordered, and the ordering and delivery process was relatively trouble free (even though I had nothing to do with that process, other than telling my co-worker what I wanted and handing over my money). Personally, I can't eat like this too often. I'm still dieting (or trying to), and a repast such as this is DEFINITELY counter-productive to that endeavor. But I certainly can't blame Tastee Platters because I fell off the wagon when it came to dieting. And I can't say that I won't fall off the wagon again at some point in the future. Not too often, hopefully...but I'm a fallible human, after all! Recommended. Good food for a good price. read more

Ordered: Mix Platter (~$15): grilled chicken and seasoned gyro over basmati rice with lettuce, tomato, sautéed onions, sweet carrots (+26¢) and raisins (+26¢), pita bread, and white sauce Aya's take: I was in the mood for something filling but also tasty (pun intended) and found myself at Tastee Platters! Being from NYC and being Middle Eastern, I've had my fair share of good halal cart food. Although the concept here is similar, the price is a bit higher and the meats could be better seasoned. The grilled chicken lacked flavor and spice but the gyro was pretty comparable with others I've had. The sautéed onions was an interesting surprise and I liked that you can get sweet carrots & raisins as an add-on. This is commonly seen in Afghan rice dishes which I'm a big fan of. The carrots & raisins could've been sautéed a bit more as they were a bit hard and lacked flavor. The white sauce is on point and the lettuce and tomato added some freshness to the plate. Although, it's not the best I've had, it was super filling and did the job for me! read more

Was I craving platters at the time? No. But do I ever give up an opportunity to eat some chicken over rice slathered in white sauce? Absolutely not. Strolled on in here and ordered chicken over rice with white sauce. It came packaged as lovingly as Halal Guys would at 53rd and 6th. You had some lettuce, yellow rice and chicken doused in white sauce. On top, 2 soft pieces of pita. The rice, nicely seasoned. The white sauce, on point. The chicken however, was a surprise. It had more a curry flavor to it, which I didn't anticipate but it was still good! Just be warned, its not going to taste exactly like Halal Guys but, that may be a good thing for you! Overall, give this place a shot! Especially if you don't wanna schlep your way all the way to Midtown. read more

Brand new place, and what a welcome addition to Hoboken. I tried the combo platter and added on the olives and cheese (I am in the 50% that likes olives- feel free to skip it). Loved the platter. Wayyyy better than the halal guys in nyc. Made an impulse decision to get some wings as well and that may have been the best decision of the day. The wings are super crispy. I got 1/2 honey garlic and 1/2 mild. Both were amazing. I am generally not a fan of sweet food but loved the honey garlic wings. Give it a shot! read more

Finally! A quality chicken and rice spot! Its like a tease, being 1 mile from nyc and unable to get a quality down to earth chicken and rice platter that delivers in Hoboken. The spots are either from jersey city that doesn't have a similar take like halal guys, or a super alternative upscale version of chicken and rice at a restaurant. This place is perfect, no frills, but delicious and exactly what you're expecting. So happy to have this addition in hoboken. read more

Craving platters and alwaays having a hard time picking a spot not alot of options . Deff great , sad they forgot my baklava in my Delivery but aside that wings huge , good flavors in the platter . By far the best platter spot in NJ! I've tried all the wings flavors and my go-to is the mango habanero or honey garlic wings. They are made to order and always exceed my expectations. My usual platter order is a chicken platter with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, hummus, and copious amounts of white sauce (obviously). You can't go wrong with the mix platter either. read more

There's a service fee charge even though you pay cash. Never heard of that. The lady could not explain the fee and would not refund it. This just left a bad taste. Please fix this problem. Feels like you are being ripped off. Too bad the experience of this automatic charge will make going back to this establishment hard. Unfortunately the food was pretty good. But the feeling of someone literally stealing from you will make one hesitate to patronize this place again. read more

Be careful of the guy with pony tail. He was ready to fight because was having a bad day. When I placed my order, he was rude on the phone. I figured they are busy. When I got there to pick up my food, there was no one there except for a few delivery pick up drivers. Not busy- may be he is the owner or someone who definitely hasn't been in customer service business. Instead of side of rice, they had given me side of fries. It was probably a case of simple miscommunication. I said "excuse me, I am missing side of rice". He asked about fries and I tell him I didn't order them. At this point, he starts to argue with me and says "don't tell me you ordered rice because you didn't". I tell him, it was probably miscommunication. This is where it goes from a bad customer service experience to shockingly unbelievable experience. He tells me "you want to argue or you want me to punch you in the face. Mo runs a good place. Even better, it moves quickly: I'd been craving a gyro & there was a line upon entry. Think I had that gyro in my hands in 2 or 3 minutes! Stuffed with lettuce, white sauce, onions & a meat or meats of choice, it was exactly what the doctor ordered. Adding hot sauce never hurts, either. Worth a stop for badass food served by a caring staff-which is rare lately. Get there! read more

Amazing!!! Food, service, everything!! The food was hot and fresh and made quickly. Gave us extra pita and sauces without even having to ask! So delicious I could have eaten that platter every day and the fries with the sweet sauce (I forget what it's called) and white sauce.. soo good!!! Even my 2 year old loved the fresh pitas. The owner and employees were very kind and thanked us for coming and asked if we needed anything else so many times. You really don't find service like that anywhere anymore. This isn't your average halal food cart style food you're used to. When you come to Tastee Platters you can expect exceptional, tasty food every time. Unlike Adel's and Halal Guys, the meat and rice here has perfect consistency and not too oily like these other places. I've tried both the beef gyro platter and chicken and was amazed. Went here for the first time today and so happy this opened up in Hoboken! Their beef gyro platter was delicious, especially with the white sauce. The meat wasn't dry and was tasty. They generously gave us extra white sauce and hot sauce. Their pita bread was soft and delicious as well. Reminds me of the halal carts in NYC, but a little more expensive. Solid platter. They weren't cheap on the sauce when dining in which was great. They should include other topics for free though based on customer choice similar to the trucks in the city to make for a better platter. Also pricing, although isn't a lot for lunch in Hoboken, when compared to platters in the city it's about $3-4 more.. read more

The amount of salt they use is too much that it overwhelms the expected flavor of the dish and personally makes my tongue feel swollen. I am not sure if they do this partially on purpose to extend the shelf time as almost all cold mezes are prepared beforehand and not to order. They might be trying to keep the dishes from spoiling for 3 days or so. In any case and whatever the reason is it ruins the flavors for me. I'll try this place one more time then re-review with an update in the coming weeks.
