This unassuming gem of a pretzel factory has been around since '83 and offers freshly-baked, handmade pretzels that come in a variety of flavors (regular, extra salt, reduced sodium, extra dark versions, whole wheat options, low protein, as well as flavored (garlic and sesame)). They're all certified Kosher, too! When the hubs and I knew we were going to be in the area, we made sure to call ahead to make an appointment to take one of their free tours. Our tour guide was Ms. Vera, and she was super informative and sooo sweet! We got to see the making of the dough, how it was kneaded by the machines, how each pretzels were all made by hand (super impressive!), how they were put in the oven and baked, and then saw how the pretzels were seasoned and packaged in the bag. We also had the chance to try a hot-out-of-the-oven extra dark pretzel - super crunchy, but a little too 'burnt' for me, but it would be super delicious dipped in hot spicy mustard or some type of cheese! The hubs and I bought a bag of extra salted pretzels and the garlic, so can't wait to dig in! Just note that this is a true pretzel factory, very no-nonsense, and even the sign is hard to miss. However, once you find it, you'll have an educational time. The managers and the employees were all super welcoming and super friendly :D +free pretzel factory tour :D +handmade pretzels! :D +plenty of parking in private lot

I figured the best way to help him was to get first hand experience of the tour, so I booked a Friday afternoon tour for my team. Can I just say what an awesome time we had? We are all fairly local folks but we learned so much and ate amazing food. I appreciate the level of service Zachary provided including helping to fit this in my budget. All communication was prompt and easy to understand. The payment process was simple. Instructions for where to meet and questions about food allergies or other issues were appreciated. Even in the rain, this was just so much fun. We started at the Maryland Center for History and Culture. As a museum junkie, I loved that we started with a quick tour through Baltimore history! And we got to pop into the Jim Henson exhibit. They have the Labyrinth Dress!! After that we started walking. Did you know the Ouija board was created in Baltimore?? I did not. We walked into the Enoch Pratt Library and poked our head into the Peabody. And we did a quick tour of the Washington Monument. I did not know you could go inside it for free. The food part was even better! Started at Tio Pepe's which was delicious and such a cool building. After more walking we stopped that Helmund for more food. Our final stop was at Topside for a cocktail and dessert. Zero complaints. I've been telling folks about this experience because it was so much fun. I look forward to doing the other tours.

You definitely won't need to eat dinner after going on this tour - it's a good amount of food.

Also, In town, is a Hershey Museum, that goes into the history of Milton Hershey in more detail. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to see it. At the center of it all, is Hershey's chocolate world. (separate review.) that has a lot of different activities, as well as lots of shopping. All except for one of the activities costs, so I decided to just do the trolley tour. The price of the trolley tour is reasonable. It's the same price for all ages, but they do offer military/veteran discounts. The trolley tour was lots of fun. It takes you throughout the town of Hershey, they tell you about the story of Milton Hershey, and you get to see different spots that are part of the Milton Hershey Legacy. It takes you past the Hershey mansion, which he built in 1906, for only roughly $50,000, not including landscaping or furnishings. Imagine that in today's money... It's a pretty little town, and there is just so much to see. The narration can get a little "hokey", but I'm not complaining, as it's "hokey" in a fun way. Plus, there's free chocolate! Mr. Hershey was a philanthropist, who believed in giving back to his community. He founded the Milton Hershey school, which continues to this day. It's for children 4 through 15, from low income families, and it is all free of charge. Cons: * Overly priced, particularly in comparison to similar tours. * The tour was supposed to start at 8:30pm. My group was all present prior to 8:30pm. We finally left the parking lot for our first destination at 8:47pm. * Only three locations are offered, all of which are available to the public already. * One of the locations that the tour guide boasted about being exclusive to their company was literally a public dog park. * The lack of passion and engagement displayed by the guide and co-guide was disappointing. * Despite starting nearly twenty minutes late, we also ended twenty minutes early. Not a single participant stayed until 11:30. I believe this was because our tour ended at the dog park. Although they indicate there are 52(ish) acres to investigate, all that is truly accessible is the path that goes around the dog park. The guide doesn't even guide you. They simply set up their "base camp" at one of the picnic shelters. During the entire walk around the park path, you could even hear the guide and co-guide conversing. * When listening to the spirit box with headphones, the guide claimed they're noise canceling. I listened to the spirit box with them and could hear people up to three feet away. Ironically when the co-guide was receiving answers from the spirit box after the main guide would ask questions, the two were sitting about three feet apart most of the time. Also, once I mentioned to the main guide that I could hear conversations through the headphones and that they didn't appear to be noise canceling, only the co-guide was permitted to use them from that point on. That made me very suspicious and I am NOT skeptical about the paranormal at all. All in all, I would not recommend this tour or company based on the price they charge and the overall lackluster experience. In addition the tour is advertised as "advanced," yet there is nothing truly advanced about walking along a park path with a plastic K2 meter.

My daughter and I drove from MD to Gettysburg and was highly disappointed. We were on the 8:30-11:30 tour and was supposed to arrive to the meeting spot 10 minutes early. The GPS was not very helpful and we arrived 8:25. There was no one in the parking lot. We saw a few cars and thought maybe we should follow. I called the number on my confirmation to see if I was going the right way. The person was very helpful and we met up with the group. No one greeted us and we weren't even sure we were in the right spot. We ended up asking a couple of youtubers that were more helpful than the actual group. The tour guide not once acknowledged us. She only talked to a couple of people in the group. It was a very small group and there was no reason for her not to interact with us. My daughter tried asking her a question and she ignored her. When it was time to go to the next location she didn't say anything. Next location it was the same way. My daughter asked others questions and was completely ignored. No one checked to see if we were supposed to be there so essentially I could've just shown up without even paying. I wasted my money on this very unorganized tour. They really should do better. I've seen some really good reviews and either they are all fake or they are from the people who this tour guide actually talked to. If this was free than I could see this being as unorganized as it was. Other paranormal tours I've been on were larger groups and much more organized and interesting than this. Maybe it was this tour guides off night but being a paid tour I expect way better than what we got. Highly DO NOT recommend doing anything with After Dark Investigations.

We were lucky to be her only guests this morning and we covered four establishments, 2 sweet and 2 savory. Next stop was a bakery store where we had brownies and cookies and bought pecan rolls to take home followed by pizza, finishing with ice cream. All were small local businesses. We had a slice of the pizza at a rest stop on our trip home. We had lots of other leftovers and were not pressured into spending for extra food, but there was certainly lots of good stuff to share with family upon our return. Silver added lots of good information on what it was like to be a Gettysburg resident at the time and after the battle. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it.
