    The Bus

Third time here in Gettysburg, but it's been a while. Only had a 1/2 day so we decided to do a double-decker bus tour this time. Although we saw a lot of the history (battlefields), I really didn't enjoy it. The drive was disorienting and too fast. But it's not the bus/tour company's fault. It is what it is. You can only pack so much into 2 hours. My suggestion.... Spend the full day in Gettysburg, and do the self-driving tour.

Fun experience. Tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. We had safe travels. Double decker bus. We sat on top. Don't forget to wear a hat and sunscreen. Bring water. See lots without having to drive your car or walking.

In concept this could be a great tour. In reality it lacks in its finish. The tour bus is what it is. An open top double decker. We sat on top and had a good view. It was a little scary at some of the trees and street signs. Phil was our tour guide. He seemed knowledgeable and almost never stopped talking. Maybe too much talking. While it was a moving bus tour, we never seemed to stop and a lot of the memorials were just blurs. We saw a lot of Memorials for a lot of different groups. We learned about how the 2 sides would use the terrain to change their strategy etc. Since there were only 1 stop for just a few minutes it was hard to actually see what was happening. The tour could be better with a few actual history moments

The tour was overall good, our guide was very knowledgeable but gave so much information that I lost track of history here and there. I feel like he told us the history to just say it, but not really keep us engaged. It didn't help that there was a motorcycle rally while we were on the double decker bus, because it was hard to hear our guide. We got rained on, from the top deck, but they provided us free ponchos to continue the tour. What I did appreciate about the tour company, was that they kindly rolled us over to the next tour when we were running late from an emergency. They were very accommodating and nice enough to let us join the next tour. They also have a really great gift shop with souvenirs of Gettysburg with small snacks, and clean restrooms. Overall a good experience!

I had such a great time on this tour. Mask are strictly enforced! We purchased tickets for the double decker and sat on top to enjoy the nice view (top or bottom seats are designated on your tickets). Gettysburg is such a nice small town and it definitely felt like we were going back in time by just being there. The tour guide, Jim, was very knowledgeable and told us tons of facts about the battle and the city. Connie was an excellent driver! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get out of the city and explore.

I contacted the tour from this place and I got the personal tour guy from here. My tour guy is very knowledgeable, helpful, super professional and care much about their customer. I also see they have a regular tour in a bus for big group or bus tour.

The husband and I had a fantastic tour and really enjoyed our knowledgeable guide (sorry, we did not get his name). He made the battle easy to understand and was extremely passionate about the information he was relaying. Our bus driver was wonderful and made sure that as we got on and off the bus that we were warm enough and comfortable. The gift shop was also well stocked and we were able to pick up a few items to bring home for ourselves and family (not to mention some chocolate). I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to learn more about the battle of Gettysburg.

If you're going to learn about the Battle of Gettysburg, discovery its history or view the battlefields, the best way to start is to get yourself orientated and gain a fundamental understanding of what you are looking at. In order to do this, the best way to get started is with Gettysburg Battlefield Bus Tours. So, grab a seat on the open top deck and get started. The narrators are actually certified as battlefield tour guides and know every detail of what they are talking about. Besides that, when at stops, they are more than willing to answer any personal or particular questions you may have. The starting place of the bus tours is souvenir shop located in the Gettysburg Visitors Parking area which offers plenty of parking; all free of charge. The buses are of recent vintage, clean and comfortable. As far as bus tours go, and I've been on plenty of them all over the world, this is one of the better.

A must do before venturing out on your own. Our bus driver was great. Our tour guide Joel was beyond fabulous. A real knowledge of all things civil war. The bus tour gives you a great feel of actually what occurred on these hallowed ground before venturing out on your own. If you can only do one thing in Gettysburg, take this bus tour.

    Superb! Ghost town!

We went to the gift shop to inquiry about the tour. Saw a double decker bus with visitors getting ready to on a battlefield tour. The shop carries lots of stuff: toys, souvenirs, books, etc. Quite a big store so the setup was quite good, bigger aisles and spacious.

These guides are highly trained and specialized and insanely knowledgeable- we had excellent discussion and so much in depth learning about the battlefield as we trotted along. The carriage is Victorian style and very comfortable- and ours was pulled by two gorgeous Percheron mares, Kate and Trina - sisters!! They were so beautiful and so sweet! Sarah and Bogey (sp??) were our our drivers and they were so great to the horses and very skilled at handling anything that came up. Our guide was Chris and he was just incredible- I'd be shocked if there was anything he didn't know about Gettysburg lol!! Even his ancestors were part of the battle! Not only did he provide tons of info about the ins and outs of the battle, but he also dropped fun little pearls of trivia along the way - things like how the shapes of certain monument bases have different meanings and how the "avenues" were put in for tourists lol!! The guides have to pass a rigorous learning/testing regime to even be able to do the tours so you know they know their stuff! The tour is totally fun - but also treated with the utmost respect for the gravity of the subject - so many lives lost - such a tragic and heavy piece of history. I strongly urge anyone to take a guided tour on your visit - interacting with such knowledgeable guides really helps get a better understanding of the battle and the core issues etc. The tour starts in town at the Gettysburg Heritage Center - very easy to find and plenty of parking. They pick you up in the carriage right out front and off you go! The tour lasts around 2 hours and they let you interact with the horses afterwards if you want! Can't recommend it enough!!

Cons: * Overly priced, particularly in comparison to similar tours. * The tour was supposed to start at 8:30pm. My group was all present prior to 8:30pm. We finally left the parking lot for our first destination at 8:47pm. * Only three locations are offered, all of which are available to the public already. * One of the locations that the tour guide boasted about being exclusive to their company was literally a public dog park. * The lack of passion and engagement displayed by the guide and co-guide was disappointing. * Despite starting nearly twenty minutes late, we also ended twenty minutes early. Not a single participant stayed until 11:30. I believe this was because our tour ended at the dog park. Although they indicate there are 52(ish) acres to investigate, all that is truly accessible is the path that goes around the dog park. The guide doesn't even guide you. They simply set up their "base camp" at one of the picnic shelters. During the entire walk around the park path, you could even hear the guide and co-guide conversing. * When listening to the spirit box with headphones, the guide claimed they're noise canceling. I listened to the spirit box with them and could hear people up to three feet away. Ironically when the co-guide was receiving answers from the spirit box after the main guide would ask questions, the two were sitting about three feet apart most of the time. Also, once I mentioned to the main guide that I could hear conversations through the headphones and that they didn't appear to be noise canceling, only the co-guide was permitted to use them from that point on. That made me very suspicious and I am NOT skeptical about the paranormal at all. All in all, I would not recommend this tour or company based on the price they charge and the overall lackluster experience. In addition the tour is advertised as "advanced," yet there is nothing truly advanced about walking along a park path with a plastic K2 meter.

My daughter and I drove from MD to Gettysburg and was highly disappointed. We were on the 8:30-11:30 tour and was supposed to arrive to the meeting spot 10 minutes early. The GPS was not very helpful and we arrived 8:25. There was no one in the parking lot. We saw a few cars and thought maybe we should follow. I called the number on my confirmation to see if I was going the right way. The person was very helpful and we met up with the group. No one greeted us and we weren't even sure we were in the right spot. We ended up asking a couple of youtubers that were more helpful than the actual group. The tour guide not once acknowledged us. She only talked to a couple of people in the group. It was a very small group and there was no reason for her not to interact with us. My daughter tried asking her a question and she ignored her. When it was time to go to the next location she didn't say anything. Next location it was the same way. My daughter asked others questions and was completely ignored. No one checked to see if we were supposed to be there so essentially I could've just shown up without even paying. I wasted my money on this very unorganized tour. They really should do better. I've seen some really good reviews and either they are all fake or they are from the people who this tour guide actually talked to. If this was free than I could see this being as unorganized as it was. Other paranormal tours I've been on were larger groups and much more organized and interesting than this. Maybe it was this tour guides off night but being a paid tour I expect way better than what we got. Highly DO NOT recommend doing anything with After Dark Investigations.

After signing the waivers and watching the instructional video, we were assigned a personal trainer and went through the indoor training course for about 30 minutes. After everyone passed the training, we were then equipped with audio receivers and ear pieces, so we can hear from our guide, Buddy, loud and clear throughout the 4.2 mile ride. I think any and all tours anywhere should be equipped with such technology. Normally I had trouble hearing in a group tour, but not today!!! Buddy was a perfect guide. He knew everyone's name; he kept everyone's attention; and he took care of everyone. We were also given bottles of water, string cheese, and candy bars. Since we were prohibited to take pictures while on the Segway, he took pictures of everyone and posted on Flickr so we can download our pictures for free. The Segway PT was a joy to ride on. Each is aptly named after a civil war horse. Mine was called "Faugh-a-Ballagh" (after a war-cry meaning "clear the way!"). The group size of 8 was just the right size. I had a blast. And I can't wait to bring my family when my son turns 14, the minimum required age. SegTours should be on everyone's bucket list, and the historic Gettysburg where you can view hundreds of monuments is one perfect place to do it!
