Ordered for pickup. Food was pretty good. I had ordered some shrimp fried rice with beef, egg drop soup, crab rangoons. Husband also enjoyed his food. Was very hungry and placed an online order. I waited the full 30 minutes so I knew it would be ready when I went in. Went in and they acted like I hadn't placed an order. What? Then the young man stared at an IPad and then took my payment. Then I waited another 20 minutes. Now mind you, this was at 2:45, well after lunch hours. I got Hunan Chicken, which is a relatively simple dish. The broccoli was not cooked all the way and was very firm. The protein was suspiciously firm and didn't really have much flavor. I have ordered from here about 10 or so times and I go pick it up. I can honestly say, I have not yet had a bad meal. This is saying something for me because my usual issue with Chinese restaurants is cheap meat and no consistancy. You find something thats good and just wait a couple weeks and that will change. Not at this place thus far. Very friendly folks and I just had hands down the best Beef Lo Mein lunch I have had to date. Shocked me. I really hope these folks keep up the good work. So hard to find good "Consistant" Chinese food here for some reason. read more

There are like 6 Chinese restaurants around here, & this is by far the best one! They make it fresh & hot & ready in less than 20 mins! They have wonderful customer service & they are super nice! I was in here a couple of weeks ago waiting on my food and saw a dead roach on the floor where the cook and order taker were located. This will be my final time eating there. Legit the best weekday lunch buffet in the area, and for a great price! The food is better quality than any of the standard asian buffets in the area, and while small in terms of types of food - all are done very well! Standard take-out menu as well, nothing super fancy but the food is always good! I also genuinely the folks who work here, very nice and kind to all patrons! read more

Picked up a carry out yesterday for dinner and I would say it was the worst display of Chinese carryout I've ever seen. We ordered large wonton soup, cashew chicken, chicken with vegetables. First I'll say this place is only one point five miles from my home so there's no excuse for refrigerator cold chicken. The wonton soup I kid you not was just light yellow liquid with literally no flavor. Tasted like water and the won tons were raw. We ate the cashew chicken and hung on to the other dish for the next day's dinner. The food was barely lukewarm, the majority of the chicken was refrigerator cold. The fried rice was warm but non flavorful with chewie pieces of pork. Egg roll was warm but lacked flavor and was smushy inside. We had to add chicken seasoning to the soup just to give it flavor but the wonton's were inedible. I say skip this Chinese restaurant and go elsewhere. my husband did eat the chicken with mixed vegetables the next day and he said it was edible but this will be the first and last time I order from here. He also agrees The wonton soup was absolutely abysmal. 1 * as for my husband I would give this place 0 Stars. read more

We were in the area and came here to try their lunch buffet on Friday at around 2:10pm which was cutting it pretty close since we found out their buffet ends at 2:30pm. The price for their weekday lunch buffet was $6.95 without a drink and $7.95 with a drink. We opted for the without drink and it ended up costing us just under 14 bucks for two adults. You gotta pay upfront first before you can eat. They handed us a styrofoam plate and bowl and a plastic cup for tap water and we were off to the races. The interior is the size of a normal Chinese takeout joint so you can imagine the size of the buffet based on that but I mean for 6.95 and no need to tip as everything is all self service you can't expect too much. The buffet line was tiny with only about 12 items to pick from with the standard items like general tso's, fried rice, lo mein, egg rolls, black pepper chicken, beef & broccoli, hot & sour soup, egg drop soup, etc. We came in near the end of the buffet window as well a few others so majority of the items were nearly empty. Even so they were nice enough to cook some more and replenish a lot of the items for us. Since there are very few items on the line I imagine the items don't need to sit under the heat lamp of death too long during a lunch rush and the items stay fresh being recooked every so often. Overall, you get what you pay for and for 7 bucks for pretty decent quality food, you get a great bang for your buck here. read more

Not sure why this place is getting such good reviews...maybe because it's Garner, NC and there's not a lot available and the locals really don't know any better. ...the food wasn't terrible. When it comes down to it; most of the food on the buffet tasted pretty much the same, combined with the lack of variety, the use of styrofoam plates, bowls, glasses and plastic silverware...for the price, there are better places you can go in Garner, NC for an all you can eat Chinese food buffet. read more

Well it would seem that Taste of China is a tale of two restaurants. The dishes I order most were sub-par but my significant other LOVES their egg foo young. I was convinced that I got dysentery from something I ate there but my sweetie insists I got sick too quick for it to have been their food that made me sick the times I fell ill. I think her position is driven by how much she likes their egg foo young and crab Rangoons. They are pretty darn good. Atmosphere 2 - This is your typical strip mall Chinese takeout place you can eat at in a pinch. Service 2 - I have no complaints about the service. The staff have always been friendly and nice. For me it is just counter service so I don't have a ton to go on. Cost/Value 2 - The food quality is average and so are the prices. Food 2 - The crab Rangoons are really good. I understand their egg foo young is also well above par. Other than those two dishes I have been underwhelmed with the food. I got fried dumplings and they were very salty, like borderline inedible salty. If they were house made I could understand but these were your standard freezer bag dumplings. How do you over salt premade dumplings. The hot and sour soup was hearty and full of stuff but it was also very salty. I got them both on the same day so maybe one of the cooks was getting happy with the salt I don't know. I have also tried their beef Lo Mein. It was mediocre at best. The noodles were mushy and the dish had very little flavor. The beef in the Szechuan Beef had a very strange texture. It was like it have been chemically tenderized somehow. I've ordered online to-go here 2x. It's pretty good. The sesame chicken is the best. I usually hate the rice that comes with the combination plate, but their rice is actually really good! The egg drop soup is really good too. The chicken wings were dry af though. The little biscuits or chinese donuts were a little dry too which made me sad because I love those little biscuits, usually. Overall, average american-chinese food. I came here today for the first time and was very satisfied with my care. The service was excellent as cashier was very kind. The cashier even came to ask how we were doing. As for the food, I was still very pleased. Today I only ordered the buffet and it was very tasty. I was especially pleased with the egg drop soup as the consistency of the egg drop was very nice. I have tried to recreate egg drop many times but have always fallen short of the consistency of This shops. Definitely would recommend coming to Taste of China for a cheap and tasty meal. read more

This restaurant is one of my favorite American Chinese restaurants. The lunch buffet is one of the best deals in town. The food is great and the service is even better. The cashier even came over to our table to ask how our food was. The food was delicious, especially the house chicken and fried chicken. My friends and I really enjoyed our trip here. This place has gone downhill. I've been going to Taste of China for about 8 years. For some reason since they changed staff, the food quality has really diminished. The flavor quality is poor for chinese food. The shrimp lomein tasted like flavorless spaghetti and the shrimp seemed like old frozen shrimp. The wontons in the wonton soup were over cooked and mushy, and the beef in the Hunan beef was grisly, fatty... the baby corn tasted like unrinsed baby corn. Since then I go to New Panda in Garner for my Chinese food. Very disappointing, this used to be a great place. read more

Garner doesn't have much to offer (yet?) for great Chinese food but I was pleased with Taste of China. It's not exactly a fancy place - typical strip mall locale - but the presentation and taste of the food was surprisingly really good! I never try and be too whiny with reviews of Chinese buffets as there are a certain amount of things you should accept if you're going to go to one (food that's been out for awhile). This one hit all the bad things you find at Chinese buffets. Old food, lack of food, lack of variety, and jam packed. They need to consider moving and I would argue expanding and improving their lunch buffet. Wouldn't come back or recommend in its current state. read more

Prices are good and its once of the few places where I can find crab meat sticks! Never had a bad meal from them!
