While housesitting for my parents, I tried the best soul food that I've purchased in awhile! Right in my hometown! Immediately, Taste Buds was recommended on DoorDash once I opened the app. The ratings on DoorDash, Yelp & Google said that this spot was worth the try -- and yes it was! It was worth the zillion fees DoorDash tags on your food orders (not the business' fault). Let me get to the good part. I ordered saucy shrimp with 2 sides ( candied yams, mac & cheese & cornbread) and dessert (oreo pudding). I don't think what I ordered; which was "saucy shrimp" and "oreo pudding" was available. They sent me what looks like fried shrimp, candied yams, cornbread, banana pudding and beautiful mac & cheese. Everything was fresh, cooked with LOVE and overall AMAZING! The portion size was large. So delicious! I forgot to try the banana pudding. Asked my parents to try it and let me know what they think. The food was very mid. I was told to check this place out but it's nothing special. I got the fried chicken platter with collards and mac-n-cheese. The chicken had a nice fry but lacked flavor. The collards were blah! The Mac tasted good but the noodle was way overcooked. I also got the fried fish. Again, great cook but lacked flavor. I will say the customer service is great. Very nice people. It pains me to give a blah review bc this place has potential. They need to insert more spices in their proteins. read more

First time to try the food here at Taste Buds..was not sure to expect, Good thing I was not disappointed. Food turned out pretty tasty and definitely cooked fresh ( its made as you order it) so you never have to worry about getting cold food. Everything was well seasoned , chicken was crunchy ( just a lil salty for my liking ) but still very good, shrimp was crunchy and cooked perfectly , Mac and Cheese was good as well, cornbread is soft and moist. my 11yr old daughter said she liked all of it.( and she's usually picky). Husband and I went for dinner on a Thursday evening. My husband got the Garlic Parm Saucy Shrimp with mac n cheese, and I ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork with mac n cheese and collards. It was absolutely DELICIOUS. My husband LOVED!! the shrimp. But that Mac n Cheese is HANDS DOWN some of the best I have had!!! The BBQ pulled pork could have used a bit more sauciness but tasted great. Wonder service, staff was friendly and attentive. My 4 stars comes down to the collards. I found them to be under flavored. I prefer my collards cooked with smoked ham hock, these are cook with smoked turkey. Over all, definitely would recommend Taste Buds. read more

Friend raved about this place. After reviewing taste buds online, we were excited to give it a try! We drove 35 minutes to get there expecting we would be having a sit down dinner. As we exited our vehicle we were approached by a friendly employee with menus. Then told the restaurant is take out only, That they closed the sitting area. We were told that we needed to call in our order. (Wish this was stated online..) Anyways, we called and watched them through the window taking our order.. was told the food would be ready in 30 minutes. So we sat in the parking lot waiting as we were not familiar with the area. We watched others come, order, and get food. An hour later.. still waiting for ours. 20 minutes later... after watching the employees vacuum the restaurant and prepare to Close... here comes our food. Food was as expected for take out. It's never as good as eating fresh in restaurant. The best way to describe the food is by saying, it was just food I ate. We got chicken and waffles (chicken was not crispy but was flavorful and waffle was soggy of course), pulled pork (not the greatest.. through out most of it), BBQ chicken with collard greens and potatoes salad (the potatoes salad was the best). One other thing add is that you get a ton of food for the price. Sadly though the next time I'm in the area, I don't think I will be trying again. read more

In Vineland there's not many soul food spots in the area, so I was curious to see what it was like. I ordered the shrimp and broccoli Mac and cheese, and I must say it was pretty good. Definitely very flavorful, however there was a lot of garlic used. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the broccoli still had some crunch to it (which is a good thing, nobody wants mushy food). The only thing missing was the cornbread, which they don't have on the menu! I'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu, but please get some cornbread! read more

Soul Bowl.....OMG. sooooooooo good. I admit I am not a soul food connoisseur but I have had some delicious southern cooking both locally and down in NOLA when visiting family. TB's greens are sooooo flavorful, yet not too salty. Mac n Cheese had just the right amt of bread crumbs (for me). And the chicken. The chicken stole the show. perfectly flavored.
