Wow is all can say!!!! I ordered 3 things and they were all amazing. I'm a foodie from Miami and after eating at some of the best places here, 26 to be exact, this was the 1 place I wanted to come back to before I flew back to the states!
The poutine was the best of 7 I had during the trip. You could tell it was homemade gravy and the chef came out to explain that is what makes all the difference! Fries were fresh out of the dryer, the cheese curds were soft and melty and the gravely had just a little pepper to kick it up a notch, soooo good!!!!
The baklava was the best I ever had and is made by the chefs wife who runs the cash register! Lots of pistachios and just the right amount of sweetness! Most baklava is too sweet but this was just right. The lady lovingly explained she used 40 layers of phyllo dough and that it's a Turkish recipe. At $2 a piece, this was a great deal!
Lastly we had the almond croissant, ask her to warm it up for you and it's just yummy flaky goodness!! It's not a ton of almonds but it was the best croissant I ever had!
So after hitting all of Montreals best from food tours to yelps top rated places, it was the mom and pop shop at the corner on the top of the hill, that was the last bite I wanted to remember Montreal by and I got all three wishes again!!
6 STARS for value, friendliness, and food quality!!! Tre. Manifique!!!!!!
