This place is truly unique and outstanding. It's a hidden gem. The layout of the establishment is very chic and decorative. Even the bathrooms are beautifully thought out. I went with a large group to Tasca and it had a good ambience. The service was friendly and everyone had fun. The group got paellas and empanadas, and I ordered the skirt steak, which was recommended by our server. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their wine and paella and etc., but I thought the steak was flavorless and the yucca fries it was served on didn't seem to be cooked properly. I also sampled a friends vegetable empanada and it didn't do anything for me either, which is too bad. Still, I think I'm in the minority on this, so maybe if you're interested in paella or the sea food check out Tasca. It could be a lot of fun. read more

Amazing food we ordered the Remolacha, a beet and goat cheese salad with great flavors topped with crispy shallots and the Setas Y Gambas, shrimp with organic mushrooms and a saffron broth. 10/10. My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful meal at Tasca this week. What a beautiful restaurant!!! And they followed all covid protocols so we felt very safe. The staff were all masked and tables were spaced far apart. Our server Marco was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. There were so many great options on the menu that it was tough to choose. We started with cocktails that were refreshing and delicious. I don't remember the names, but one had tamarind in it and the other was something smoky with bourbon. Outstanding! For appetizers, we chose the setas y gambas (shrimp with wild mushrooms in a sherry brown sauce). I want the recipe for that sauce! So good. Then the flatbread which was as beautiful as it was tasty. The entrees we chose were the duck for me and the pork tenderloin for the husband. The duck was perfectly prepared and was accompanied by a sweet plantain mash with goat cheese. The pork tenderloin was extremely tender and was served over a perfectly seasoned bean purée. Though full, we had to try the tres leches for dessert. So glad we did. It was a perfect ending to a perfect meal! There are so many items on the menu that we'd like to try, so we are looking forward to being frequent visitors. Absolutely love this place. My favorites are a cocktail Oceanographer / must-try! The second one is an octopus. The best octopus in the city. Always soft and tender. I also enjoy that place has enough room. I like both floors downstairs and upstairs. Interior design is elegant and modern. All waiters, hosts are great professionals. Had an amazing experience here! Great ambience, food, and staff. Menu is marked with which items are gluten free, nut free, and either vegan or vegetarian I forget which. We ordered the octopus small plate (could've eaten 5 of them) as well as the peppers which were not like anything I've had before in a good way. The pork tenderloin was delicious but wow the star was the lamb chops. I even just picked up the bones bare hands and tried to eat every last bit of meat off those, super attractive of me. The restaurant was also incredibly well staffed and my water glass never went empty the entire meal. Also I have a gluten allergy and can't have cross contamination and the waiter was super knowledgeable of what foods were cooked in the shared fryer. I can't wait to go back and try more things on this menu. read more

My elderly mother needed a ramp to the bathroom and they went out of their way to help her access it. And the restaurant is pretty. I went to Tasca today for a birthday brunch and it is the first and last time. The rudest service of any restaurant I have been to in years. Not even sure where to start. I informed the waiter that I was very allergic to peppers, the first thing out of his mouth was " Oh, You're one of those!" which was odd, but OK, .. I ignored the comment and asked if he could assist me in selecting off of the menu so I could avoid peppers. While it could have been a kitchen mistake, they brought me a first course salad with a side of peppers.. which was really not funny. So I reminded the waiter again that peppers can send me to the hospital and he said.. yeah yeah.. But then when they brought peppers mixed in with the potatoes next to my omelet, together with a pepper laced sauce on the side of their yuca fries, I started to get pissed off. In addition, I ordered a goat cheese and spinach omelet that came without any goat cheese. Not an easy mistake for the kitchen to make, since it was one of the main items on a small brunch menu. At this point, I had to say something to the waiter, and I did so, nicely. His reply was so rude I was shocked. It was like it was my fault that I am being so difficult. How dare I ask for goat cheese in my goat cheese omelet. At the end of the meal we asked for coffee, and before I opened my mouth the waiter looked at me and loudly said "NO NO NO!!!!" and I had no idea what he was talking about. Apparently he thought I was going to ask for soy milk.. why?, I have no idea, but this got him upset that I would dare to ask for anything more.. The way that he spoke to us was literally outrageous, and he knew it, I should have called for the manager, but I didn't. But the killer came in the apology. 5 minutes later he knew that he had really crossed the line with us and came back to say that he was sorry. But then he said " if someone had treated my mom rudely I would be mad, so I apologize" Insinuating that I was old enough to be his mom, which I highly doubt. And then saying- "they do not pay me enough here to deal with all of this stuff" I am not sure why I did it, because he really deserved no tip at all, but I purposely over tipped him so he could not justify his bad behavior after I left. So Tasca, your waiters are rude and your kitchen is sloppy.. Food allergies are very serious and you can cause real damage by trivializing them. I have one food allergy, and I am not a difficult person by any means. Shame on your staff for behaving that way. Oh, and by the way, I told the restaurant several times that it was my guest's birthday so how about a candle??? Or is that too much to ask?? We've walked by Tasca for the past few weeks, commenting that we need to stop in one day and give it a try, "It looks delightful." We went in today for a late afternoon lunch. Fabulous. Our server, Eleanor, who was knowledgeable, professional and personable, recommended the "shrimp and chorizo flatbread," and "grilled octopus special." They were both outstanding. The flatbread, which also included chopped yellow, orange and maybe red pepper, was extremely flavorful. The octopus...I know this may sound like I'm going overboard...was as good or maybe the best I've ever eaten. The octopus was grilled and set on two sauces, one an herbal green sauce and the other a dry tomato-paprika sauce, served with very tasty Peruvian purple potatoes. The bar area, which includes high top tables on which you can watch the world go by along Columbus Avenue, is quite attractive. The dining area is also very tastefully done. All in all, fab food, very attentive service and an attractive setting. We'll be back very soon. A very welcome addition to the UWS restaurant scene. Sidenote: There are a few steps that lead into a dining area that extends to the back of the restaurant. As were finishing our meal a woman in a wheel chair was being wheeled from the back of the restaurant to the steps, where there is an electronic lift--very unobtrusive...we didn't even notice it--and the wheel chair was moved onto the lift and lowered the few steps to the main level. We went in here in March. The chatter at all the tables around us was the same, how long it was taking to get food and drinks. We waited for nearly an hour for our appetizers and eventually just gave up on our entrees. It also took a very long time to put in a drink order and we were only able to do that by flagging down our server as they rushed by. Then it took over a half hour to get the drinks. While visiting AMNH we decided we wanted to find someplace nearby for dinner. I checked Yelp for a restaurant that would suit our pescatarian diet. Tasca's menu and location fit the bill. We ordered a few small plates to share and the food was amazing and the service was impeccable! We ordered 2 starters (octopus and croquettes), the beet salad, and dessert and the spices and flavors were fantastic. The octopus was cooked to perfection! He always welcomes you with open arms and an open heart, with a smile that speaks more than ten spiritual tomes. One of the best restaurants in UWS. Great ambiance bar area, upstairs (trendy) and downstairs (cozy by the fireplace). Roasted beet salad, duck, pork tenderloin were all really tasty, main dish sizes are large. Sautéed kale side dish is surprisingly good. The Green Smoke cocktail is unique and refreshing.
