Nothing too exciting. I've had better tapas in touristy restaurants. Their pasteis tapas I'd avoid. I'd go toanother restaurant. Service was ok, wifi was a plus overall you can pass on this resto and give another one a try.

Stop here only if you want the best meal of your life! This little side street restaurant was absolutely incredible. The choices are broad with simple appetizers, tapas and full plates. My husband had lamb chops that literally sent us to heaven- it has raised the bar so high it will probably never be matched. My son loved the prawns which were wonderfully spiced. My other son had the Ovas con Xico- we had no idea that eggs could taste so good. The service was excellent- the waitstaff went out of their way to make sue our experience was excellent. If I could wrap them up and take them home. The desserts were melt in your mouth. The winner was the caramel ice cream. This home made concoction literally melted in your mouth!!! The atmosphere is cozy with both indoor and outdoor seating. Don't be turned back by the small dining area that you initially see. There is more. All of this with appetizers and soup totaled $70 euro for a family of 4.

    Octopus salad

I was pleasantly surprised by this little restaurant in the middle of the very touristy area of Sintra. The service was friendly and the octopus salad was very fresh (and filling, especially for an appetizer)!

The food was rather mediocre - I am sure it was fresh but it's taste was just OK. We got mussels, cuttlefish with white beans and sardine sandwich. We liked the white beans dish the most. We sat down outside and the smell of the sewage waters/canalization was permeating the air. The service was slow

Waitress throws out our food in front of us into a cardboard box. Barbaric act. Please read review.

WiFi is available if you need it. We ordered and while waiting, enjoyed a bottle of wine for €18, a great value for a sit down lunch. Food hit the table about 20 minutes in, which was perfectly reasonable. My wife went with the steak, potatoes, eggs and sautéed vegetables. The steak was seasoned perfectly. I had the codfish with cornbread, sweet potatoes and spinach, a dish that is distinctly Portuguese and done really well here. Generous portioning for one, and again the seasoning was spot on across the board. A small but appreciated detail: the espressos arrived on warm plates, a thoughtful touch that suggests the kitchen actually cares about what they're sending out. After a morning of climbing through Sintra's palaces and towers, this is exactly the kind of place you want to stumble upon. Highly recommend making it part of your afternoon.

We happened to look up restaurants on Travel Advisor and this one was highly rated. The outside dining area was appealing but as we walked inside, I was drawn in by the decor - clean, cozy, and serene. Their bathroom was stunning immersed in green tile. We were seated in the back next to a window with a beautiful view. Service was attentive yet unintrusive. We were so hungry and ordered quite a few dishes: Starters: Bread/Butter Olives Foie Gras White Anchovies Prawns with Garlic Main dishes: Caesar Salad (enough to be shared by 2 people) Steak was served medium rare and came with fries Bacalhau - Cod EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING was delicious!! I did not realize that the Caesar Salad came with chicken. It was a meal of its own. However, the steak and cod were the highlight of our lunch experience! The steak was well-seasoned and tender. They made sure it was prepared medium rare. The cod was also tasty paired with sauteed greens and their version of mashed potatoes. Such a beautiful restaurant. This spot is a hidden gem in Sintra - give it some love and check it out.

Bacalhau na Vila -- A temple to Portugal's most iconic ingredient…read more Portugal has a deep culinary relationship with Bacalhau, and Bacalhau na Vila leans into that heritage completely. This isn't simply a restaurant that happens to serve cod; the entire concept is built around it. The menu explores bacalhau through multiple traditional preparations, each highlighting a different texture and flavour profile. We started with cream of spinach soup with cod, a surprisingly elegant opener. The soup was smooth and comforting, with the cod adding a savoury depth that balanced the creaminess without overpowering it. The appetizers showcased two beloved Portuguese classics. The codfish cakes (pastéis/bolinhos de bacalhau) were perfectly executed--light, crisp, and fluffy with well-balanced seasoning. The pataniscas, a looser cod fritter, had a rustic charm with a golden exterior and tender interior. For the main course we ordered roasted cod, which was excellent. The fish was flaky and deeply flavourful, demonstrating why bacalhau has been such an enduring staple in Portuguese cuisine. What makes the restaurant memorable is how intentionally it celebrates this ingredient. Cod has historically played a major role in Portugal's food culture, and Bacalhau na Vila turns that history into a cohesive dining experience. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional, with staff who clearly know the menu and take pride in the concept. If you're visiting Sintra and want to experience one of Portugal's most iconic ingredients prepared in several traditional styles, Bacalhau na Vila is a great place to do it.
