I'd been curious about Tartinery and finally decided to try it out for lunch. I ordered the quinoa bowl ($17) and added chicken ($4.50) to it. The woman who took my order was very pleasant, and removing a component of the bowl at my request didn't faze her at all. It didn't take very long before my order was ready; I just waited by the pastries which did look tasty. The quinoa bowl comes with spinach, Brussels sprouts, edamame, toasted almond slices, avocado, mint, and cilantro. It wasn't the biggest size, and I found myself hungry a little later in the afternoon. Also, the dressing didn't really stand out. The best parts were the toasted almond slivers and the generous portion of avocado that was included. I really wanted to like Tartinery more, but there are better deals to be had in Hudson Eats. read more

I stopped by Tartinery Cafe for lunch with friends and got the Lunch Combo ($15.50+), which includes a choice of soup and petite sandwich. I'd wanted the Chestnut and Mushroom Soup, but they only had Butternut Squash. For my sandwich, I chose the Smashed Avocado with Egg (additional $2.50+). I'd asked for it without cilantro, but they were putting it on as they were preparing it, so I had to ask them to remove it, again. The soup was a bit bland, but the Smashed Avocado was good. For $20, this wouldn't be my first choice for lunch, but could be good if you're looking for a small lunch. read more

Tartinery is a really great place to enjoy an excellent happy hour and a nice chill vibe. The happy hour is during the week, but also all day on weekends. I especially loved trying one of the seasonal spritzes that was 1/2 price. The watermelon spritz was refreshing, fruity and not too sweet. It was perfect. While the labor economics of Herman Melville's day haven't changed much, thankfully there are some tastier options in the area these days to help alleviate the scrivener's woes. As far as I am concerned, Tartinery's warm rice bowl is the superior option in this genre. It includes a perfectly runny soft poached egg, a rich lemon vinaigrette, crispy roasted potatoes, and just the right amount of wild rice and lentils so that the meal is not overly heavy for lunch. Located towards the rear of the Brookfield food court, Tartinery isn't as busy as other places on the weekend. The menu is distinctly French. The varied selection of small & regular tartines served on tasty sourdough bread is particularly good and a great alternative to Le Pain Quotidien who have unfortunately greatly reduced their tartine options. read more

This used to be a go-to spot, but I was pretty disappointed by my most recent visit. Both myself and the customer ahead of me ordered a soup. The guy ahead sent his back 3 times on account of it being cold, and got a fresh cup. I ended up getting his original cup microwaved for 20 seconds. Yum I love a place that has interesting drinks. I ordered the spicy margarita which I always find interesting every spots version of what that means. This one was good. I don't normally like salt on my margarita on the rocks and they were out of salt so it worked. I did upgrade the tequila because well who needs an unnecessary headache. I recently had a friend try to book a party with this place. It took several emails to eventually get a response. The GM confirmed the reservation and gave suggestions on food options. After some back and forth questions and pricing - his response over the phone was, "This isn't worth our time." I always look for a comfortable go to bar/restaurant wherever I am staying. This is my Cheers . The Tartinery is located in the back of Hudson Eats, 2nd floor Brookfield Mall. I sit at the bar and order a glass of white wine and homemade soup and sometimes something more. Everyday they have happy hour from 4-7 during the week and 4-6 on the weekends. Happy hour means that the wine is 1/2 price making it the best deal I have found . I always hate paying for one glass which costs almost as much as a bottle. I like the squash soup and really the wine is very good. From Brookfield you can cross through to the Oculus where I often catch one of several subways . If your subway line goes to the World Trade Center(WTC) stop. It is easy to walk through the Oculus and the underground passage way to Brookfield. In the winter I appreciate doing my walking indoors. read more

Tartinery is where you go for happy hour wine after work. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4-7 (and I believe weekends from 3-6). I've been a few times prior to Covid and most recently after/during Covid (March 2022) and it feels just as crowded. It's as if Covid never even happened here. It's nice if you work nearby because you don't have to go far, and you get 50% off wine. But if you're looking for a quiet place to sit and have a drink during those hours, this is not it - at least not during Thursday, the prime happy hour day. This was a place one of my friends who came to NYC had found on yelp. It's essentially a food court with the view of the Hudson River. Unlike any other food court's I've been to, this seemed a little more "high class". Being in New York and in Brookfield Place, there were ton's of people dressed for business who were dining here. Located on the second floor to the side of the mall, it gives a nice modern, up-scale feel. Lots of variety in food ranging from Japanese to burgers to Mexican to salads, grilled cheese, bbq, etc etc. Almost every restaurant had a long line. Being one who has difficulty making decisions on what to eat regularly, this was quite hard to choose which to try. My friend's boyfriend had tried a burger from Umami Burger whereas she had gotten some sushi from Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar. I had went to Dos Toros Taquiera because for some reason, this sounded good Lol... Not knowing what I was doing, I essentially ordered like I was at Chipotle. Lol? Line at Dos Toros went pretty fast as the workers were very efficient. Price wise, it was a bit normal for new York but quality wise, it was like a higher end Chipotle. I had ordered a Carne Asada "plato" which is like a burrito, but in a bowl (or rather "plate"). Ingredients used seemed really good and flavor was delicious. Size was it may be a little smaller than what I'm used to but it was enough to hold me off for a few hours. Wouldn't mind coming here again in the future to try some other places. read more

This location is in the Hudson Eats food hall of the sparkling Brookfield Plaza, shelling out great French open-faced sandwiches. I got a variety of them, including some old favorites, but 4 tartines for $70 is a bit much. Maybe one or two next time and definitely the Roast Beef! Roast Beef tartine comes topped with thinly sliced beef that's smooth and delicious. The perfect melding of thin roast beef, creamy truffle mayo and a nice bite from the arugula. It's surprisingly rich, but subtle too. Chicken Salad tartine comes with shaved celery & toasted pistachio, which I like because of all the crunch from the toppings, but expect a lot of celery. Croque Madame with ham, gruyère & bechamel, comes with an organic sunny-side up egg. You can also go the Monsieur route, with no egg on top. Definitely their richest tartine from the bechamel sauce, but another winner. Smoked Salmon tartine with crème fraiche, capers, radish etc is very similar to bagel & lox, subtle and fresh in flavors and great over the sourdough bread. I love Tartinery and even as a food hall option, they're still A++. Just don't forget the Roast Beef tartine! read more

I got burnt ends $9.25 and they were really nice about the number of sides I can add to it, so I basically got them all! It all went together really well. I also ordered the sweet potato casserole with maple & pecans small size $4. Really yummy but super heavy so I wish the small was actually smaller. The savior for Battery Park City workers and residents has finally arrived. We are no longer forced to pick among just Harry's, Wei West and El Vez for lunchtime outings (Shake Shack's gotten kind of boring too, especially now that the good fries are gone). Now we suddenly have too many good options: bagels from Black Seed for something smaller and lighter, the excellent barbecue from Mighty Quinn's for something more substantial, or the rich food from Umami Burger for something to send us back to work in a massive food coma (people are still anxiously milling around Umami as it is the one latecomer that still has yet to open). Those are a few of the best vendors, but there are so many other great options too. I still need to try Little Muenster and perhaps the expanding Skinny Pizza chain. Dos Toros and Num Pang are always good options too, and Chop't and Dig Inn are better choices if you want something lighter (and hopefully Blue Ribbon Sushi will open in the near future). The only dedicated place for sweets is Sprinkles, so at least no more of the same old cakes from Whole Foods for office parties, but we could really use some other dessert options here. With so many great savory places, the ratio is way off. A branch of one of the several great new ice cream places opening up around the city would be perfect. There are also suddenly tons of great options for coffee - Olives and Black Seed both serve Stumptown and Tartinery carries Blue Bottle. It is definitely a mob scene at lunchtime, but lines move surprisingly quickly. Mighty Quinn's had a massive line like it always does at Smorgasburg, but it only took about 15 minutes from the wait until we had our food. Often foregoing the subpar lunch options around here to eat something quick at my desk, this will be a major problem for my health and wallet. read more

WOW, what an amazing, clean and huge food court! I never thought I'd say I wish I worked on the west side (far from civilization as we know it and public transportation), but yes this food court definitely makes me think twice! In summer 2011, I heard that the World Financial Center (WFC) would be renovated to make room for a huge food court, but this upscale looking spot has more than exceeded my expectations in the 3 years since that announcement. There used to only be a few options at the WFC to eat at, but now the food court consists of so many of NYC's favorites. There's a little something for everyone --- Mighty Quinn's barbeque, Num Pang's Viet sandwiches, Chop't salads, Dos Toros tacos & burritos, Skinny Pizza, Umami Burger, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Dig Inn's marketplace style food servings --- just to name a few! Getting to the food court is relatively easy. It's located on the 2nd floor above the Winter Garden. The escalator to the right of the Winter Garden seating area leads directly up to the food court. If you take the escalator to the left, you'll have to walk thru the construction filled half of the 2nd floor around to the food court. When I first walked into the food court, I immediately noticed the enormity of it and the cave like feel to it. Once I got past that observation, I noticed the clean sleek white walls, the marble floor, marble tops for communal tables, sleek finish individual wooden tables and chairs and PLENTY of spacing and seating. I loved that there were communal bar tables and stools for those just looking to grab a quick bite and then go. The first time I came here, I arrived at about 11:30am on a weekday. There was only moderate traffic in here, barely any lines for food and an abundance of seating available. By about 12pm, the hoards of hungry workers in the surrounding area mixed with the curious tourists began to pack the food court. I was actually surprised at just how many tourists were actually inside, which made me wonder had this already become a tourist trap? Anyhow, lines started to grow and seats became a commodity by 12pm. I only bought my food and then left to eat back at my office, but when I left, the food court was run amok with people and I could easily envision all the seating getting occupied by 12:25ish. Still, the food court is a GREAT addition to the area since the west side is so far away from everything else in downtown. The prices are definitely a bit steep at all the eatery outlets so it's very easy to get carried away with your food spending. Be prepared to spend anywhere from $9-$13 on the average meal here. read more

I am writing this review as I'm waiting for my order. The barista/cashier was very matter of facts. He spoke to me and my mom in an off putting tone. It was so uncomfortable. Before he started blending my smoothie, hr stopped to take a man's order and proceeded to make him a cup of coffee. I didn't even taste my smoothie yet. But I can tell you this experience was very dour for me and my 60 year old mother. I'm watching him interact with another customer and his whole demeanor has changed. He's even laughing with her. I'd hate to say but after seeing the interactions I'm co clouding that this man is a racist. It's very sad because he's a man of ethnic decent himself. This place needs better representation. wow, I totally didn't expect to be taken aback by the setting as much as I was when I walked up the stairs to the food court. My friend had grabbed a table next to the large windows, overlooking the water & NJ. I came around 12:30pm and the place, as big as it is, was completely full - not too many available seats (until around 2-2:30). The place is very spacious, clean (including the restrooms), classy, and efficient. Lunch with friends was enhanced by the view & variety of foods available. I waited in line at Dig Inn Seasonal Market - ordered a small container (~$10) and since I'm unable to intake a huge portion at once, the size was perfect for me. I would say they offer fresh, healthy and delicious foods. After lunch, we ambled outside towards the water, passing by palm trees in the lobby and an ice rink adjacent to the building. read more

I've only been here once so far, but the options are so worthwhile, you will pretty much be able to find every cuisine to fit your mood! On my first visit, I went during off peak hours (one hour before closing), so there were no lines. I had the Umami sunny side burger - which is by far one of the best burgers I've ever had due to the way truffle was interlaced into the ingredients, and not just added as truffle oil! We went there for happy hour drinks a lot but last time I tried their lunch (finally) and the vegan soup might be one of the best I've ever had. Though quite pricy. The sour dough along with it was yummy too. Next day I tried quinoa bowl and warm goat cheese salad. Goat cheese salad was great. It has a bit warm goat cheese on toasts on bed of veggies. Quinoa bowl though was a bit disappointing. It was a huge amount of quinoa for sure and huge chunks of avocado. But very little veggies and a ton of almonds. My husband had some delicious chicken from Farm to Counter Dig Inn and my sister had a gourmet pizza slice from Skinny Pizza. So many choices! Service is a little slow, which is surprising considering the fast pace of the city. However, I had a DEElicious sandwich, ham, gruyere and bechamel on a mini baguette. It is more filling than it looks and was perfect. The bread alone was so fresh and toasty. Their gazpacho is also very good and refreshing - tomato, cucumber, tomatillo, lime, cilantro, big serving. I am still craving that sandwich. It took my tastebuds back to my trip to Paris. Prices are fair for the area, a higher end food court. Simple, small-portioned, clean (almost bland) food, offered at much too high prices. The avocado open faced toast I had at the counter here was not good. Tartinery tried to "fancy" up the toast by squeezing lemon juice in the guac spread and by sprinkling quinoa bits on top, but I would have preferred it without either. Since my friend and I dined at the bar area "to stay", we were obligated also to pay gratuity, thereby bringing the cost of my $2-cost "meal" (if you can call it a meal, as I was hungry again in less than two hours) to an outrageous $18 (which included a can of Coca Cola I ordered to accompany the toast). Our server was nice enough, and happily snapped photos of my friend and myself together (we hadn't seen each other in a year), but next time we'll just take selfies at Shake Shack. read more

Whoever works in this building has one of the best food courts I've ever seen. How could you not love lunch time if you have places like Umami Burger and Sprinkles Cupcakes in your same building?! They have a couple dozen different eateries to choose from, including stuff like sandwiches, bagels, tartines, sushi, burgers, pizza, dumplings, the list goes on and on. If you can't find something you like here then I don't know what to tell you. There are plenty of tables available too. It's a good place to go to if you want to eat near the 9/11 Memorial and Museum since it's just a couple of blocks away. We even took a free shuttle from Battery Park to get here after seeing the Statue of Liberty! read more
