Food: the food was incredible! We ordered two sandwiches (Crispy Chicken & Pesto Chicken) and split them! The sandwiches were very yummy and decent sizes. The fries were incredible and also a decent serving size. Service: Our service was good- no complaints Ambiance: This underground eatery had a very cool ambiance, played good music and was well lit. Seating was great!

Our server was excellent, with a nice approachable attitude, and our food arrived relatively quickly. The restaurant was clean and spacious, underground at their original Soho location. My boyfriend got the Tennessee burger, which he liked, and my wagyu steakhouse burger was alright, but I kind of wished in retrospect that I'd ordered a BBQ burger. That's just a personal preference though, there was nothing wrong with it. They're priced pretty typically for a Manhattan sit-down burger joint (ie. average of $23/burger).

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food!! Also loved the music playing. If I could give more than 5 Stars I would!! Got the Pesto chicken sandwich and my daughter got the Crispy chicken sandwich. We split them and they were both amazing. The fries were perfect. Not soggy. Also got 2 crazy shakes. The cookies n cream one and strawberry shortcake. So damn good!! Would totally come back and recommend to anyone visiting or lives here.

We love blacktap. The shakes are a bit overrated for the price but I love their burgers and fries.

Try a Crazy Shake... you won't be sorry!

Black Tap - SoHo is a must visit. Burgers? Legendary. The 1/2-lb Champ wagyu was flavorful perfection, fries were spot-on, and every dish at our table was a hit. Perhaps shining brightest was the Brooklyn Blackout Crazy Shake... a towering chocolate beast that took three of us to finish. (So, that's less guilt... right?) Matt (the owner) and his team treated us like family. Thanks again, Matt. There was just one problem: we ate it all so fast that we couldn't take a decent pic. So, just look at all the posted photos after you read this!

This restaurant was recommended by friends of ours that are locals. The shakes didn't disappoint! They food was equally delicious and we will return next visit to NYC

We were lucky to get in for dinner at 7pm on Friday after being at Coney Island all day. The crazyshakes are still crazy (see photo). The coffee shake was great as well. Not really known for the food but the Mozzarella with Chipotle sauce was very good. The chicken sandwich with coleslaw in it was great as well. The burger chopped salad was pretty good as well. Food was a little expensive but we were really there for the shakes not the food.

I normally pop in to Black tap after work or when Im in the area on the weekends. Its a cool spot to have a milk shake, burger or wings. They have two levels, upstairs and downstair. The downstairs has more room and gives a cheerful vibe. On this day I stopped by after an appt and got the chicken sandwich and an arnold palmer. The chicken sandwich was crispy and not oily and the korean bbq sauce on the side was a great additional. The portion was huge, which i love because i love leftovers and everything was fresh.

Ask the Community - Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer - SoHo

Do they really still require a vaccine card to eat there?

When I went in July they did not ask for me for my vaccination card. So I would say no

Do I need a reservation with covid and everything my birthday is on the 23rd and I really just want to get some luck but I am confused?

I don't think this place ever takes reservations, but if you're at all concerned about COVID this isn't the place for you. I live in the 'hood & pass it frequently & there are always multiple staffers--including cooks--not wearing masks. Also,… Read more

Do they offer a kids menu?

no no kids menu

Do I have to make a reservation if I would like to have a birthday lunch on a Saturday? More than 5 people.

I am fairly certain they do not take reservations. We tried to make one for dinner and they didn't take it. If there is a wait, they take your name when you show up and text you when the table is ready.

Do they have a children's menu?

I do not remember them having one. My kids all ordered a burger and, of course, some of their awesome sundaes.

I'm planning to go with a group of friends and I just want to know beforehand will we be able to pay separately?

i think you should pay for your friends...

Can you make a reservation?

I'm not sure, but when we showed up around lunch time we were seated almost immediately.

How's the parking looking?

Hmm not bad. Typical restrictions..parking after 7p for most of the block

I love to black tap craft burgers & beer?

I don´t know, do you? Not all heroes wear capes you know.

How long would the wait be on a Saturday mid afternoon, around 4? Is one location less crowded than the other? Tried 3 times to eat here, no luck yet. Fingers crossed ?? Thank you

I'm guessing about an hour wait

Typically on a Friday night how crowded is black tap? And how long is a wait like around 7:30/8

Same thing for Friday, all the way around the corner, long wait!

Can you get the crazy shakes to go?

Yes, but it won't nearly be the same effect. You might want to go on a day where you have more time so you can stay, snap pics, and enjoy.

The staff have always been friendly and extremely knowledgeable; it is really handy when you can say you live in San Francisco, what do you have that I can only get out here? You can tell it is a good place in Hell's Kitchen/Times Square when stage hands and actors actually come by after (definitely not between) their shows. They also have whiskeys available here as a sidecar; definitely do not try and order any other liquors, the back of their staff shirt makes that clear. For food, I've only ever had the cheese curds because I obviously have a problem and can't get them at many places in SF. The portions are large and the prices reasonable. My only feedback to them is maybe offer some large format bottle pours on busy nights so people can try some of the more obscure options.

Got a nice dose of dive bar and it was exactly what I was looking for. The place is small, it is loud, there is a good selection of beers on tap and some more on bottles/cans from the fridge. Bartenders are just the right amount of "if you're not a regular you're fine but you're not special" and chatty friendly. What you'd expect from a hole in the wall with decently cheap beer (compared to just a block or two over).

One of the only speakeasies that's open during the day so it is a great place to spend time if the weather is not agreeable - which can happen frequently in a city like NYC. The bartender was sweet, menu was limited. We got a drink each before heading out to other nearby bars on a night of bar hopping. I would recommend getting the Empress X which is what I got. Wine and beer are also on the menu, but the unique cocktails are the big draw. The space is narrow, basically one long bar taking up the entire floor plan. No tables, only stools at the bar for seating. There's literally no space for anything else. While I liked the theme overall, I personally wasn't blown away by my cocktails, and didn't love that they were priced over $20 when there was only soju instead of stronger spirits available. Plus the space is "charming" but maybe I'm getting too old for tiny, grungy East Village bars. Definitely a unique vibe, but if you're not actively seeking out a Japanese-themed bar, I wouldn't call this a must-visit.
