Had been in the mood for wings for a few days. Saw great reviews online of Mudville. Happen to be in the vicinity of where I was heading this afternoon. Soon as I walked in the host was very cool, upbeat, and made myself, and a group of ladies in another party feel welcomed, and very pleased to be in the restaurant. Arrived during happy hour just as the day was ending. Wanted to try a lager but was not sure what to try. So I played it safe with wings, fried mozzarella, and aqua panna water! The wings were perfect, blue cheese was chef made, and it was absolutely divine! Not to mention the side of Thai bbq, very yummy! Next time I will try garlic parmesan. Next I wanted to try the fried mozzarella which did not disappoint! This was out of this world! The marinara sauce was really good, it has a little kick! Must say very impressed with my entire experience, my server Camilla was an angel server that made my entire experience very kind, and special. Treadwell Park, the closest craft beer pub close to here, consistently closes early, before their posted closing time. In addition, their kitchen closes ~90 min before their closing time. If you have a late schedule & are hungry - too bad. They are part of the "sleepification" of NYC. I'm closer to them, & they have an amazing Belgian & German draught selection. It's too bad. Mudville pays homage to German beer styles, but almost all of theirs are northeastern US craft beers, but in the German style, which IMHO are usually "almost there but not quite". When you make the same thing with the same ingredients & the same local fresh water source for up to 900 years, it's hard to compete with that. With that rant behind us, Mudville's taps are clean, their beer is very fresh, their beer selection is huge, & the staff is very friendly & amenable about "try before you buy". Their kitchen is also open "late" (by current NYC standards), often until midnight. The food here is expensive considering the (small) portion sizes, but it's well made with fresh ingredients. The beer pints are also a few dollars more each than most other places for the same beers. Very clean inside, though, & friendly & courteous staff. Did I say that there are no pubs close by serving food open until midnight / 1am around here ? Shout out to the Irish American, which is also open past midnight & serves food until 12am as well. It's questionable if they are making a profit by being open with the full menu in the weeknight hours after 10pm, but I sure am glad that they are. Five stars for this alone. read more

Chill bar with lots of tables (at least it was on a Tuesday night). Tried a flight of beers here that were was super interesting and fun. The wings were good (not the best I've ever had but I'd definitely have them again). Hotel staff recommended this location for great wings and adult beverages. I went that recommendation and I was not disappointed. The owner was at the front door greeting customers - I was no exception. He informed me he selected the beer served personally and offered me taste samples if I could not make up my mind. I ordered buffalo wings (12) and had a Guinness Stout. Both were great. Bartender Dustin was attentive and talked sports to me and another customer - great customer service. I visited this restaurant on a Friday evening to have wings and drinks with a friend. I haven't been here in a while. I used to go a lot when I was in college. The wings and fries were delicious. I had the BBQ wings. The drinks were very good. I had a Whiskey Sour and Bees Knees for my drinks. The drinks were well prepared. The waitress was very nice, helpful and attentive. The burger here is now $20 a la carte, and fries aren't even included. We ordered fries and onion rings, and the onion rings came with just five pieces -- basically $2 per ring. On top of that, they were overly battered and so salty you couldn't even taste the onion itself. For the price, the value simply isn't there. Fries are one of the cheapest sides and should come with the burger at this point. Instead, you're paying premium prices for food that doesn't justify the cost or quality. Let me start by saying I *really* tried to give this place a fair shot. But my experience? A hot mess from start to finish. First time we go in -- just me and my sister- we have an hour to kill before our haunted house activity. So let's rock it right? We ordered a margarita, a water, and hot wings. After **37 minutes**, the bartender comes back like, "Oh, I forgot to put in your order." *Thirty-seven minutes of us sitting at the bar looking in our face, even had the audacity to set up plates in front of us. Obviously, now the time has gone by and we have to go. The manager *Jo* she was nice about it, gave us a lemon drop shot, apologized, and told us to come back after our activity -- said she'd comp the wings. Cool. I appreciated that. So we actually did come back later that night with the rest of my siblings. We ordered guac, honey hot wings, and drinks. The buffalo wings (which she comped) were honestly the best thing we had. Everything else? Mid. Definitely not worth the prices. Then -- and this part annoyed me -- I asked for ranch with my wings, and they brought out some mystery white dip that turned out to be *dill.* I said, "This isn't ranch," and the server just said, "Oh, it's a dill dip," like that was no big deal. Um, what if I was allergic to pickles? People have *actual* allergies. Zero care or concern. And then, because apparently this is their theme, I ordered another drink before closing out and waited another 25-30 minutes. The manager comes back (again) like, "I'm so sorry, your server forgot to put it in." She comped it, but at that point, I was just over it. I even asked her, "Why do all your servers forget to put orders in? That's literally the job." She just kept apologizing. Now, I hate to even go here, but it's hard to ignore: we were the *only* Black customers there -- and the only people of color at all, including staff. We were sat in the corner and basically forgotten. Twice. Make of that what you will, but it didn't sit right with me. Bottom line: the wings were solid, but the service was careless, the food was meh, and the vibe was off. Overpriced and underwhelming. While I love the environment here, the food is just lackluster. The wings were... not good. They say they are award-winning or something, but I thought the meat was not well cooked and bland. We tried both the hot and the mild variety, and neither sauce was very flavorful. Moreover, the dipping sauces were weird. The texture of the bleu cheese was icky, so I ordered ranch instead, just for the ranch to be a strange dill-flavored variety. This dill flavor was far too overpowering to be tolerable. Even the vegetables that came on the plate didn't taste fresh. The prices are also not justifiable. Came here for my job's happy hour and it was really fancy with a nice bar and the staff were attentive and nice! The staff recommended me the Italian Pilsner Wild East L'Ultima Moda and it was very light and floral. Tasted pretty good! We got nachos, chicken fingers, fried mozzarella, and dips for two, which were very good. The mozzarella was very cheesy and enough to serve 6 people! This place is definitely a good place to get a party started and will recommend it to anyone who wants happy hour with their coworkers! Came here for a happy hour with my colleagues and everyone took such good care of us. It was supposed to be a group of like 12 or 15 and it ended up being 8 and they had reserved a decent amount of space for us. Everything we ate from the boneless wings, nachos, cheese curds, etc. was delicious and the drinks were very good as well. It was a game day and we were happy to find this gem since we are from wayyyyy out of town. We had a few drinks and some awesome food. The mozzarella sticks that were wrapped in wonton paper and filled with cheese and pesto were different in the best way. That pizza though...we really weren't expecting bar pizza to be good but it was damn great! Only issue was the specialty drink menu. Great service, the price is affordable and the place is very comfortable. Although they didn't put on the menu that the chicken sandwich has bleu cheese in it, they change our plate for chicken dumplings. Located in Tribeca, Mudville has been around for more than 40 years. Great place to get some Buffalo wings and a few beers. Also try the chicken tenders and guacamole. They have a large selection of draft and canned beers. Of course, they also offer specialty cocktails. Excellent customer service. Food came out quickly and was very fresh. You can avoid the credit card upcharge if you pay in cash. I'd gotten the beer flight and thought it was very cool that they had some local beers on tap! After returning with a large group, I am happy to report that they are still up to par with my award winning standards! I randomly dropped by Mudville for a quick bite after walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, and it was what the doctor ordered. It was perfect for me because it had an old-school and very low-key vibe, which made me feel like I was an easy-breezy neighborhood bar/restaurant. *Perhaps, it was a bit too low-key because the bar looked closed while I was passing by. I had to look very hard through the windows to ensure that it was open.* While Mudville is pretty close to a couple of tourist attractions (eg the Brooklyn Bridge), it did not feel like a tourist trap. A lot of the folks who were hanging out at the bar seemed to be from the area. Another highlight of my Mudville excursion was Mike "the bartender". He was absolutely wonderful in making recommendations for the various drafts that Mudville has. While I normally do not hang out in TriBeCa, I would not mind returning for some quick bites (and more importantly some quick brews). read more

Liam, the host, saw our reservation request for a quiet table (in a sports bar!) and as the NY games were over, we were thoughtfully accommodated. The Jamaican jerk wings were a bit meaty for my taste but my husband and I thought they were well spiced. Everyone else seemed to go with buffalo or Parmesan garlic. The cheeseburgers were great, juicy double patties. Our server Camilla was well versed in the many draft craft beers. The backup staff was amazing too. Good teamwork all around. I have visited Mudville a few times but last night ( April 10, 2024) when I went, I realized they have changed the menu for the third time in a year. Food: The Mudville burger always comes out a bit pink even when you stress to them the importance of a well done burger. On the last menu it came with fries. Now you're paying $18 for just the burger. The buffalo wings also has a new sauce which my friend who orders the wings often did not like. Don't order a double shot of tequila because it comes out like a single shot and you're still being charged for a double. Service: The earlier you go the better. Yesterday was the first time I have ever seen so much staff there. It was about 5 of them... very nice and attentive. I have been there late night and you can usually find either 2 workers or just the bartender trying to handle the bar and seating area. This used to be a great local sports pub with a lively FiDi/Tribeca crowd - awesome place to catch a football game on a Thursday night. However, the owners destroyed this place with the recent renovations. They still play sports, but without any audio. You have to listen to garbage club remixes instead. They also got rid of the wooden barstools and replaced them with "upscale" (in a fake way) cloth stools, and took down all of the sports memorabilia and painted the walls dentist's office white. Returned with friends for a casual dinner. Being a sports bar, it can get really loud during football season, but that didn't bother us. My food (chicken tenders and fries) was crispy, warm, and savory. I was very satisfied with everything. One friend, however noted that some of her nachos were a little stale. I tried and can confirm. Literally, a one off experience. And that's only because we stumbled here walking on the block and feeling hungry. Granted, the place was crowded but it reminded me of one of those franchise spots (is it?) which I never frequent. We sat at the bar and in the mood for cider, the bartender suggested the pineapple which was very, very good. It took a good while before drinks were served (and we sat at the bar!). As far as food, we ordered the turkey burger and chicken wings, the latter was my order. Once we placed our order, it took an eternity for the food to arrive! Our meals weren't accompanied by any sides at all. The 8 wings were sitting on the plate with a couple celery sticks & blue cheese dressing. The burger was a lone burger. The 8 wings were the minimum but there were other quantities to order as well as styles. I opted for the Jamaican Jerk but when I received my meal, it was slathered with BBQ sauce. I don't think it was Jerk style. Although the wings were good and no complaints about the burger, I'd say Mudville 9 was definitely average. In other words, I wouldn't make dinner plans here. My food came very quick, which can be awesome or bad. In this case it was bad. For a 15 minute delivery time, my food was cold. On top of that the portions were a joke. $12 for tiny chicken tenders and soggy fries, and $10 for a couple Brussels sprouts soaking in soy sauce? On top of that, I had to pay for extra sauces and never even got them. Please save your time and money here. read more
