I grew up in the area coming here. Boy how times have changed. Do yourself a favor and go amywhere else, especially for online orders / FFL transfers. Rude, unhappy staff. Took 3 days to "check in" my online order after it arrived. Were extremely rude and short with me when I called and would only repeat "we will call you when its ready" over and over. So you would think that just means they were really busy and backed up right? Wrong. You go into the store and there is barely anything on the shelves and no one there like it's abandoned or about to go out of business. Two grumpy employees sitting around and acting superior to anyone who makes the mistake of coming in. You try to be friendly and joke around with them to lighten to mood and they just miserably stare at you like you are an inconvenience for being there. I have visited this location several times throughout the month of May in 2024 as a first-time firearm owner. I was met with nothing but kind, courteous, informative, and helpful people. From the woman by the ammo/rental counter to the 3-4 guys by the firearms (sorry I do not recall names but I mostly interacted with Hans). All the questions I asked were answered. All the questions I didn't know I had, were answered as well. They took the time to help my wife who had questions as well looking for a firearm of her own. Fast forward, I placed a few orders and within a week the firearms were ready for pickup. I went in, did the background check, and was out of there in under 20 minutes with the firearms in hand. I have not used their range yet or taken any of their classes (I will be doing both) but so far, I have nothing but good things to say about Target World. read more

I am bewildered, befuddled, mind boggled and confused about Target World's range policy for a new-to-Target World shooter. Today, 1/11/2023, I went to Target World to rent a number of pistols (Ruger LCP, Glock 42, Sig P365, Springfield Hellcat and M&P9 Shield Plus) because I am in the market for a smaller pocket-sized pistol for carrying concealed. My intent was to go, try, and then buy one of these pistols (I previously bought a M&P9 full size within the last year and had a great experience). I was told by the gentleman running the range that, since I had never used their range before, I would not be able to rent any firearm nor use their range unless I brought someone else with me. This is a range policy I have *never* had at any other range in the Cincinnati area, nor where I live an hr away at my local range. I won't go into the difficulties it would be to find a range partner among my liberal peer group of friends who are petrified of guns, let alone convincing someone to drive an hr to turn around and drive back. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this. Why? Why would I be told this - it's not in the range rules anywhere...or anywhere on their web page I could see. Literally walked in with a fist full of cash and basically told to beat feet. So, back home I went to my local, smaller, less stocked range/gun store and rented a couple similar pistols to make my decision - which I did. I'll just have something I want shipped to Mayday Gun Range and spend the $600+ locally with them. I don't know if I'll be back to Target World if I'm being honest. In an age where literally everything can be bought online, almost always cheaper (yes, including guns and ammo), why should I go out of my way to drive all the way to Cincinnati and support a store that doesn't seem to want my business? Supporting brick & mortar local businesses is important to me. It's why I try and shop with businesses I have had prior positive relationships. I came in tonight to look at a gun safe, not only did I find one I liked, but I was able to get a good deal on it and the dehumidifying rod as well as a lock upgrade and electrical outlet. Anselm took very good care of me and I would recommend him for any of your Target World needs. Bob came over to help unlock the safe (someone had locked it) and he was very interactive as well. I have been buying things and renting shooting lanes here for around 10 years. One of the better places in town to get any of your firearm needs. They have a huge selection of just about everything. Heck if you go to the gun show you probably will not find a better selection of Firearms. I was told to call Pete (and provided his number) for my free home delivery and setup. So my safe should be at my house within a week. How much better than that can you get. read more

I love Target World! This place always surprises me with their prices and their outstanding customer service. I don't know why I bother going anywhere else. I stopped at this location twice last week on Sunday, 02/07 and again this past Saturday, 02/13. I had been in the market to buy a new firearm for concealed carry that is smaller than what I have. I did a ton of research online and compared prices amongst other businesses in the area that would sell this product - Bass Pro, Cabelas, Shoot Point Blank, and AIM Surplus. I wanted to check out Target World before I decided on which place to purchase the firearm from. I walked in and right up to the counter. I was immediately helped by a staff member and told him exactly what I wanted. I asked a few questions and he was able to answer quickly. He retrieved the items I was looking for and when I saw the price... they had all those other stores beat by $90! I told the staff member that I wanted to buy it and he went to get the paperwork. There was no fuss about trying to upsell me or get me to buy anything other than what I wanted. This is why I love this location. I came in with my heart set on one firearm and that's what I left with. I ended up stopping by this location again the following Saturday, 02/13 to buy ammo as this is the only place that has any in stock. This visit I spoke with a different staff member than the one I bought the firearm from on Sunday. He was very helpful in pulling the ammo that I wanted and was able to also direct me to the gun cleaner that I also needed to buy. This is the second firearm that I have purchased from Target World and both experiences were outstanding. Highly recommend! read more

Store is kind of disorganized so it's hard to find what you're looking for . But there are always multiple people working so finding help is not an issue. They usually have a pretty good selection of guns but not so much on ammo. These guys are more of a grizzled no nonsense "man's man" shop so I don't advise it if you're a millennial looking for a 'clip' for your Glock. I've purchased a couple guns at TW, and looked at a few. I had a question about a mag on one, and the staff handled it without any problem. The training course I took there was great. Course content exactly what I wanted. The instructor, D___, was excellent. Clearly knowledgeable, personable, and comfortable in his role. He demonstrated the basic function and handling of pistols and ammunition with a strong emphasis on safety. What we should, and should NOT do in loading, operation, and storage. He reinforced this information using examples from experience. He was very accessible and fielded questions well. No question was treated as stupid, inappropriate, or unwelcome. Our range time, though brief, included four pistols of various commonly used types and calibers. All of the students said they were well pleased with the training. I've read a couple reviews that discussed "inclusiveness" issues at TW. That has not been my experience there. I have no personal or professional connection with TW or its staff. Gaslighting paying customers. What a shame! We made a special order on a gun paid in full. An ETA was given to us 1-2 weeks on account that the vendor had the gun in stock or so we were told. 10 days later I make a follow up call and salesman asserts "no one here told you that gun would be here in 1-2 weeks." I said "How do you know that? I understand that these guns can take a long time to receive. I'm just telling you what I was told." The arrogant salesman triples down stopping just short of calling me a liar. Like where are you going with this??? I said this is BS and the guy hangs up on me because I said a cuss word! I call back and got a manager who claims he heard the whole conversation, reprimands me for cussing, he claimed he sold me the gun, and he claimed he told me and my wife that this gun will take several weeks to receive. Target World is a bit pricey for an hour of shooting, $9 for 30 min or $16 an hour. They allow rapid fire, which is great. I haven't been here when it's crowded, also a plus. Where it falls short is customer service, courtesy, and knowledgable staff. I approached the sales counter to inspect a pistol I would like to purchase in the near future. Two sales associates were behind the counter talking, not about guns or the like, just talking the bull, as I waited there for 30 seconds to a minute. As I just looked on, they looked over, perhaps they thought I was just admiring their cool hats. When one of the associates made his way over he asked if i wanted to see something. I told him yes, he got the pistol I wanted to see, and with much regret I notice the stereotypical nonverbal gun store body language followed by a short phrase of condescending banter. I've been shooting for over 20 years now, this type of behavior is nothing new for me, but for new or intermediate gun enthusiasts this is a huge turn off. I handed the pistol back and walked to the range counter to begin my transaction to rent a lane. I asked the employee about the IDPA club that Target World hosts, and this was the first he had heard about it. Wide eyed and lost, I mentioned, maybe those guys over there know something about it. He asks them. Neither know anything more than there is competitions twice a month. This is the closest IDPA club to my house, so to have staff with such little knowledge about the awesome organization that their employer hosts is discouraging. I paid my fee for the lane, shot my rounds and left. This is a target shooting range facility. Strictly that, nothing more, nothing less. read more

Love this range. Not as high tech as other ranges but the staff and atmosphere has a lot of character. I've had ffl transfers to this location ($26 fee), shot at their lanes and chit chat with the staff. With that being said, I know that every time I swing by, it's going to be a good time and if I need assistance with item information or a service, an associate will help. read more

They have great membership prices for the range! And great transfer pricing. Now on everything else. Horrible customer service, the worst possible. Just from me alone they have lost about 5 gun sales in the past two months. Multiple times they have had an item I knew I wanted, didn't have any questions simply wanted to walk in and buy it and be a happy customer. And multiple times did I find myself waiting an average 30 minutes before even asked what I needed. I simply walk out many times emptied handed because there wait times. They are extremely understaffed. I go home and order the product online and deliver it there and pay the cheap transfer fee. Go there, find a gun you like, order online, and pick up there.. Ha so much lost business's i wonder if the owner sees what's going on on this level. They clearly need new management, training on customer service, need to learn to answer the phones. This may be the only place around town you can go shooting, unless you know someone outside city limits with some land. And I'm sure the gun-loving employees get tired of all the people that come in with no clue what to do. So with that in mind, I think Target World does the best it can. I've experienced poor service. But I've also received great customer service from the older gentleman who carries what is essentially a cannon in his waistband, or Mexican style as he called it. He was very knowledgable and friendly. It really depends on what day of the week and time of the day you go. If you want to go shooting without long lines, best to avoid weekends. If you have your own gun, then it is best to bring your own ammo. I think their prices are a little higher. If you don't have a gun, they will let you rent theirs to shoot. What's nice about that is if you rent a 9mm you can try every 9mm they have for the same price. But you have to purchase their ammo to use with rentals. read more

I wasn't impressed with this shop. Some of the staff was extremely knowledgeable but most of them were rude and uninterested in helping. They had an okay selection of guns to purchase but with all of the clutter it was hard to see and move around the showroom. While the most I see come to this place are totally clueless on how to properly handle a "Loaded" weapon, but to me seems the biggest flaw here is lack of available space for people waiting to shoot on the range,This is the biggest seller here that draws in most. The prices are fairly high on their stock, the sales staff behind the gun counter is either underpaid, careless about the job or really don't give a chit and would rather fraternize with friends / family or eat lunch instead of helping out with a sale or common question of need. The few who do work the Range counter bust pretty good and work hard, but there is still a lack of basic structure to their system for keeping people informed while they wait for a open lane or their name to be called. They do have better hours then most, cheaper membership cost, but stay away from the bathrooms, swear some poor smelly bastard must have died in there!...For the volume and space they have allotted for the traffic they get daily I would say they do OK,,, not great, but you cannot please everyone!.. All the negative reviews are probably from the zillions of idiots who bring 10 kids with them to go shoot. hey mom and dad leave the toddlers at home!!! this is not romper room it is a gun range, do you really want your newborn or 10 year old breathing in all that lead from discharge, but you crab about people smoking outside? sigh read more

I can't say that I recommend this place! I went in knowing nothing about guns, I came out knowing slightly more, but still basically nothing about guns. The guy who rented us the gun, lanes, etc. was not too friendly, and it was because we didn't know much (one of my friends with us knew a little bit). He seemed upset that he had to show us what to do and pretty unwilling to do so. I would think, you'd be interested in getting more business and more people interested in frequenting your range, but I guess not. The facility was fine - your typical gun shop atmosphere (if there is a typical), and they had a pretty good selection of weapons. This is a place that you should visit if you know what you're doing & if you know about guns already because they don't seem to keen on walk-ins who don't know much. This is not the best place locally in my opinion. There aren't a lot of choices, though, so I guess I should be grateful. The staff is known for being not always friendly/helpful. Then again, perhaps they prefer to cater to a crowd that already knows its way around a shooting range and needs little interaction. They are also known it seems for being more interested in selling you. Their prices are a bit on the higher side, but not completely outrageous. The ammo as well is a bit on the high side, which is I suppose to be expected when you are dealing with the consistent supply need generated by a shooting range. I would bring my own ammo however. The experience is rather hit or miss, and the interaction with employees can be unpleasant. If you live nearby and know you stuff and only want to zip in for a short round of target practice, then you can avoid dealing with most of the complaints people have about the place. read more

Not the best, not the worst. Make sure you know your stuff when you walk in these doors...otherwise, you could find yourself in a slightly awkward spot. Think twice people! We stopped in today to tried and that's the key word tried! To get my son's 30/30 fixed? There staff was first off we had to go and find someone! But when we did they talked down to us? They wanted us to check in the rifle and then they said it may be awhile before they call you. About then I asked if the gunsmith was in the building the young kid looking around and said with a very load NO! So I said we will go somewhere else? Have way to the door we where the butt of one of their jokes! I stopped for a second. Wanted to go back and ask why? But when you have kids carrying guns in the store I just walked out and got in the car. Target would may work for some butt wait till they step on your toes. I'm sure the gun portion of this store makes the majority of their money, because they clearly don't care that much about the archery department. The store has decent hours--too bad that has nothing to do with when someone is available for archery sales or advice. I've only purchased one recurve from here, along with the setup gear. I wound up taking the bow to another store to set up the bow and get some basic training for my son. Bottom line is, I won't be making a second purchase here. read more

Range is very dark and pretty dirty... Range master is either blind or doesn't care.. The two times I have gone there were multiple instances of people coming off the line with loaded firearms and or sweeping people with their muzzle. I never will go for the range again. Prices on guns and ammo are ridiculous. Used to have a decent selection of powder and reloading supplies but not anymore. Good shop for having odd or hard to find accessories in stock. great selection of safes and a wide selection of gun holsters. The archery department is good with great and helpful staff. read more

Target world is one of a very few places in Cincy you can shoot indoors. Wait, no shoot extreme just opened up. Its time for Target world to really jack up its attitude and services. I have been to Target World at least 10 times, not on a single trip have I ever had a totally pleasant experience there. My first few times in Spring were not so bad, long lines, but that's okay, got to shoot, but guess what.... NO ONE HELPED US OR EVEN GAVE US GUN SAFETY RULES. Luckily a couple there taught us not to point the guns unless were were ready to shoot! (kidding I knew that, I just didn't know how to clear the chamber on the model that I had which kept jamming). Next few experiences, long lines, rude customer service at the gun rental. This one time There were three long guns available, I asked to use one.... I got a no! Despite the fact the website says you can borrow several long guns. Archery range, no one to help. Trying to buy a gun, no service despite a lot of people coming after me being served, I stood in one spot for literally 30 minutes and no one asked me, "can I help?" even once!? Target World does the best they can but their service is poor, If I had the choice Id go elsewhere. As I did when I started buying my guns. I WAS OVERCHARGED, AND THEY HAVE PROMOTIONS THAT DISCRIMINATES AGAINST MEN This place will overcharge you and hope that you don't notice. They had a special over labor day weekend $5/hr lane rentals. Instead of charging me the promotional price, they charged me the normal rate and didn't recognize their mistake until I asked them about it. It seemed like their employee who rang me out was completely unaware of the promotion even though it was posted all over the store and they had flyers for it on the counter. They issued a refund after the store manager came, but now I am out $11 for a few days while they process their mistake. I would have preferred a cash refund at least so I have my money back for immediate use. Additionally, I have been there before and filled out their waiver form. I did not have the paper card they give you at the time I came in and had to fill out a new waiver form and pay the $3 again! Unacceptable!!! there should be some sort of system to search previous customers who have paid and who haven't paid. I can think of 100 different ways to have a database of returning customers. The thing is a paper card which is easy to lose! I really find it hard to justify $3 for a piece of paper saying I read the rules. MALE DISCRIMINATION!! Thursday nights they have Ladies night where it is $5/hr lane rentals plus a free firearm rental, and to get this promotion it is based solely off of your genitalia. There are no Men's nights or date nights where men can take advantage of an offer like this. Also, while I was in the process of getting my refund for being overcharged, a woman with a bow was allowed to go directly to the front of the line and I had to wait in the middle of processing my refund ; not okay. On top of that, When I first arrived at the store, the employees had pizza getting delivered at the same time and they dropped everything they were doing to go pay for the pizza before helping me. Overall it was very overpriced, poor customer service, and I will not be back. There are many more well deserving places that I would rather patronize than this range. There is absolutely nothing positive about this range compared to other ranges in the area. It is normally $16/hr lane rental plus a $3 waiver fee so that you can get a flimsy paper card that says you read the rules. You lose the card, you have to pay again. They have no database of who has signed the waiver and who has not. read more

This place is a joke and completely handled the delivery of a safe horribly! Brandon is the most obnoxious and rude person! My husband ordered a safe and thought he had ordered the right one but apparently did not! Upon realizing it it contacted target world and the sent a confirmation that they ordered the correct one! They delivered the wrong safe with someone else's name on it and he called them about it. They said that they don't carry the one he wanted. Well today they call and say it's in- the correct one. If he wouldn't have said anything he would have gotten the correct one! He's honest and told them he had the other one and now they won't deliver the one he ordered and pick up the wrong one! The customer service here is terrible and I'm surprised they don't have more accidents. I was three people back in line (only one register! Terribly inconvenient!) and watched as they rented a semi-automatic rifle as well as a shotgun to a group of young women who knew nothing about firearms. They only showed them how to unload the gun and where the safety was before they sent them on their way. I was told when I got to the counter that the range was full but there should be an opening within 10 minutes. I paid for an hour and was told they would come find me when there was an open lane. I watched the group of young women dangerously handle their weapons on the line until I couldn't take it any more and told one of the staff that they should go help. To their credit, this employee did go to the line and show the women how to properly use their firearms but did delay himself for a few minutes to answer questions from a couple who was looking at gun safes. I went back to the range area to wait my turn and noticed people who came after me were getting lanes already. I went back to the one counter and was told to wait in line when I asked about lane availability. When I reached the front, I had to wait five more minutes for another lane to open. This is an overpriced place with horrible service but it's one of the only places you can go in town to shoot and they know it. My example above is really just one of many horror stories I've experienced in the dozen times that I've gone here to shoot. It isn't horrible if you take an odd hour for lunch and go during the middle of the week though. read more

Heard "Sloanie' adversiting on 55KRC for the big SIG Sauer weekend during the weekend of Oct 24-26, complete with on-site reps and the best prices of the year! But alas, the rep left after only appearing on Friday and their price for a SIG Sauer P320 Carry is almost 10% higher than Bud's Gun Shop in Lexington, KY and over $100 higher than Gilbert's Guns in Frankfort, KY. PLUS, they didn't even have any in stock! How can you advertise SIG Sauer weekend and have neither, reps, guns or prices to back it up .... very sad first impression. I visited Target World for the first time several months ago as I was in the market for a gun safe. I was greeted by Dan Ross who welcomed me like a friend and graciously assisted me in finding the right safe for my needs. He patiently answered all my questions and pointed out all the features that differentiated one safe from another. In the end, I purchased a safe and was given the name of a person who would handle the moving of the safe. The day before the safe was to be delivered; I received a call from Dan to tell me that the safe was ready to go and that the mover would be picking it up in the morning. Overall, I had an extremely positive experience and was quite impressed with Dan and Target World. They treat you with respect, value your business, and know what it takes to make a customer for life. read more
