I love shopping at Target & have never had any issues coming here until now. Giving it 2 starts because after today's experience, I really hate that this is the closest one to our home. It all started off because of a gift card we got received from a website, & yes it was a legit gift card for Target. We double checked by entering the gift card number and access number into target's website & it clearly showed us our balance. On the confirmation from the website, it clearly stated to use this balance, show this info at checkout. It had the gift card # and "PIN" number which referred to the access #. This whole experience was crappy due to lack of DECENT customer service from the girl at the register AND from the floor manager. I didn't get any names but apparently if you don't have a damn barcode you'll get a bitchy attitude from this tall plus sized ginger/blonde girl.
Basically, I'm 6 months pregnant, & my husband and I wanted to go in to see things we wanted to purchase for our first baby. Everything went well while we were shopping. We go to check out, at aisle 7 I believe, & the girl greeted us decently. Throughout her ringing up all of our products she never engaged in conversation, even though she was SUPER talkative & nice to the people before us. After she told us our total, I told her we wanted to use a giftcard & pay the rest. I show her the info on my phone nicely & she instantly gives an attitude saying "I can't scan it. I need a barcode." Confused, I ask "Well, it says here to just show this at the checkout. Can't you input the numbers provided here in the system?" Her body language was rude the entire time. Her tone was bitchy. And she was just looking at us while declining everything we said or asked. She kept saying she can't take anything unless it had a barcode, which might've been true but that seemed ridiculous & like she was just being lazy. We started getting really annoyed because she was no help while looking stupid. My husband asked to speak to a manager. This manager basically repeated the same thing & the ginger/blonde hair girl kept saying "Yeah, I told them that too." which was annoying to hear. She must've been super busy because she didn't even take the time to explain to us why it wasn't working besides saying they need an access number. I told them both, "This is the access number. Can't you try that?" & they kept saying "No, that's the PIN. We don't need that, we need a barcode or the access number" and ended up walking away leaving us clueless. We abandoned our cart because we obviously wanted to use the gift card as it had a pretty big balance & we walked out.
I was so bothered by the lack of communication between the cashier and "floor manager" so I walk up to customer service where Stephanie was working. I ask for her help or if she could get me a manager to explain why they can't try inputting the numbers into their system or at LEAST explain our options we had to use our gift card. Stephanie calls over a manager which ended up being Kaitlyn I believe, and she was super professional yet informative. While stephanie calls Kaitlyn over through a walkie, the ginger/blonde haired girl from the register, brings our cart & starts taking our items out, placing them in bins. She tells stephanie "Yeah, she already talked to them" with an attitude, and I loudly interrupt her saying "yeah, I know. And I want to speak to her again, if that's not a problem". I had an attitude at this point because this girl seems to have no customer service experience or clearly gets away with being rude to customers. She seems to lack knowledge at her job & BASIC customer service skills. I felt disrespected for no reason when it didn't have to go the way it did. I just wanted someone to explain why no one even tried at the register or why I couldn't get some options of what to do, where to go, or get redirected to speak to a higher up. Instead, we were looked at with an annoying face and body language of this useless cashier.
As a prior retail manager, I can't believe this girl even has her job. She's clearly rude to whomever she chooses to be & picks and chooses what customers she's nice to. Not only is that unprofessional, but her body language, tone, attitude, and lack of problem solving is terrible. She made this whole experience very unpleasing. On a better note, Stephanie, Kaitlyn, & some small brunette who I didn't catch her name were super nice & helpful at the customer service area. I was so over this experience, but they did an effort to figure it out & physically inputted our info into the system & gave us options when it wasn't working due to needing an entry number, apart from the access #. We will be picking up items tomorrow, but I'm glad it was able to be fixed & used because of their help & efforts. Overall, I dislike this location a bit more now. Knowing there's employees that have nasty attitudes & aren't trained professionally make me uneasy. read more
