I came in to this shop to order a pair of hard contact lenses more than two months ago. They came in about three weeks ago and I came to try them on. One lense was off and had to be reordered. It has been almost three weeks and I still haven't received the replacement. I called more than once to try to find out the arrival date. Don't come here! It's very crowded and more expensive than buying the same glasses through the optometrist!! We came here a few nights ago as the store was closing and the store manager was very helpful in working with us to select glasses, but for some reason he was not able to pull up my insurance so he asked us to come back during the day. We then called both the optometrist and Target to get quotes for the same lenses/frame combo and by phone, Target appeared to be cheaper. We went to Target, there was an enormous wait and only AFTER they ran everything, did we learn the pricing they quoted by phone was WRONG! The individual I spoke with, Lisa, quoted the wrong price for the lenses by phone if I paid out of pocket and had said that the insurance would be on top of that... in store, the lenses were quoted to be more expensive and it turns out that insurance couldn't even be applied on top of that price. I asked if they would honor the information quoted over the phone and they were not helpful at all. Their response? "Thanks for your patience!" Now I'm going to go buy the SAME pair of glasses with better lenses at the optometrist for $80 less. What a waste of time and money going into Target. read more

I decided to switch optometrist recently because I was unhappy with my previous one and decided to try Target Optical one day when I was shopping at Target. I worked with Edith and she was so helpful and accommodating. She was very flexible in getting me and all 4 of my kids in for appointments. I had to move one of the appointments a couple times for my oldest daughter and she was not only patient but also gave us several different options. During the appointments, she took her time showing my kids the different frame options, gave them great insight on which ones would be best for their specific needs, and went out of her way to check additional styles and sizes that were not on display for us. The 2 different optometrist we worked with were both very knowledgeable and helpful but Edith really made the experience smooth and easy. We will definitely be coming back here for all of our needs because we know Edith will take good care of us! read more

This optometrist, Mai Tang, is somewhat new, and I've only seen her once. That visit went well, however, the same cannot be said for today. I showed up at 5:15 for my 5:30 appointment. The optometrist had finished with her previous patient, and was informed I had checked in and was waiting. She left me waiting for THIRTY minutes, while she chatted away with this woman, totally disregarding my time. I feel completely offended and disrespected and WILL NOT be coming back. I live in Santa Ana, so Seal Beach is a drive. Thanks for making me waste both my time AND money. I could not recommend this doctor any less. Extremely RUDE and inconsiderate. My first time here, the front staff were nice, helpful, and welcoming. Dr. Tang however, wasnt. i felt like another number which sucks when youre spending hundreds somewhere. She was very robotic, never cracked a smile. It was uncomfortable. I ended up getting daily disposable contacts and glasses, even with insurance it was expensive out of pocket, but these are my eyes so i didnt mind, and i hardly have days off and just needed to take care of it then and there. i was just surprised to see how expensive it was compared to other doctors ive seen, but i was already there, so hey.. What made me feel much better, is the patience and kindness of the front desk staff. Mervin Lopez, the optical team lead was extremely helpful. I felt happy after dealing with him. So, who knew Target had an optical department? Apparently they have a fabulous one at Seal Beach. I went in for some last effort repair work on my old frames. While I was waitin for the heroic Tom to see if he could fix them, I discovered they have the best selection of frames I've seen (better than local offices and LC's). Their prices are comparable an they offer a nice AAA discount, and run regular specials. Best of all, Tom was friendly, professional and super helpful! I was just there on Saturday and again last night and this place is awesome!! I had a ridiculous amount of fun, being that I got glasses/contacts. Marc is H-EYE-LARIOUS! He helped me pick out frames and trained me on how to poke my eyeball for contacts and he's just awesome! The girls are too, but he was the one helping me so it was fun. Everyone there is very personable and totally honest. I never felt rushed or like I was being annoying. I called to reschedule my appointment like 4x before actually going in and no one ever made me feel lame because of it even though I know that's pretty bad. Also, Dr. T. is the best eye Dr. I have ever been to! She is super funny and sassy and everything was so easy. I LOVE IT THERE! The only negative thing I have to say is when it was time to pay for my glasses no one ever told me that all the extras the Dr. recommended were extra charges and how much. I didn't know to ask or any of that because this was pretty much my first time buying glasses for everyday use. So it would have been nice to have someone break it down for me. To their credit though, I didn't ask and I'm sure if I had someone would have explained it. It may just have been the assumption the Dr. had shared all that info with me. Whatever the case I'm sure it wasn't out of malice but ask before you buy! Everything else was amazing, they have a good selection and it's the best experience you will have at an eye dr. promise! I was skeptical, but both the eye doctor and the girl who helped me pick out my glasses were super friendly and helpful and this was my best experience getting and exam and getting new glasses ever. I saw Dr. Ngo and she was nice and professional and didn't rush through or anything. I forget the name of the girl who helped me with my frames but she was the best! She was extra-patient and really knowledgeable about all the frames--not just about styles, but about functionality and features of the frames too. She listened patiently to my likes/dislikes about my current glasses and helped me get the perfect new pair. I'm usually the sort of person who want sales-people to just leave me alone, but I'm so glad that the girl was there to help since she knew all the glasses inside and out. Target Optical itself has a 90-day return policy on your new glasses, so if you don't like them for whatever reason, you can exchange for an equally priced new pair. They also take AAA discounts, so I got a few bucks off my exam (I think it was 49 dollars) and I got 33% off my lenses and frames. read more

My relatively new glasses needed both of the nose pads replaced. I did not want to drive the 35 miles to where I purchased them to have this fixed. I went to Target Optical because of their rating on Yelp. I walked in and was greeted and helped almost immediately. They took my glasses and said to wait just a few minutes. They didn't tell me how much it would cost, but I figured it would not be more than a few dollars. Their technician came back to me in about 5 minutes with completely fixed glasses. I asked him how much it would cost and he told me that it was free. I was amazed! Not for the few dollars that I had just saved, but for the amazing level of customer service I received. The front staff are professional, helpful, and friendly. Dr. Tang was very patient, which is something I need because the "better here? 1? 2? 1? 2?" part of the exam is always hard for me, even though it is multiple choice. Dr. Tang was so helpful that she let me try on two separate pairs of contacts (one being my new slightly lower prescription, the other being my old) and walk around Target to see which is better. I cannot guarantee you will get the same treatment as I have an irresistible mix of charming and humble, or "chumble", like a hurt puppy in a tuxedo, but I think you'll like the doctor nonetheless. read more

Dr. Mai Tang is great & the staff was as well. However I only came here because of the reviews & they were the only ones open for an eye exam on my only day available. Paying for the glasses was not an issue, I needed them as soon as possible. I was going to go to lens crafters so I can receive my glasses the same way however the representative informed me the it takes 7-10 business days and I will be saving $$. I informed her that $ was not the issue due to my busy schedule & needing my glasses to better perform my daily tasks at work/school. I even offered to pay more for delivery if need. I was told that they can put a request for the glasses to be a priority at no cost and there has been many deliveries that come before the 7th day. After I did the math I would be saving $150.00. I ordered my glasses & they were made aware I am very busy & she advised me to call in so I can get an estimate on when my glasses would arrive. when I called on 11/20/15 I was told they are to be delivered & received by the store 11/25/15. I informed them that this order was a priority order & was told that there is no guarantee. (had I known that from the get go I would of left) I changed my schedule around in order to be able to pick up my glasses & when I called they had not received my glasses. Then I was told that it takes 7-14 business days. I informed her I was never given the correct amount of business days. I definitely will not be coming here again. I felt that I was given false information in order for them to make a sale. I rather have gone to lenscrafters & paid more to have my order ready right away since I need it daily. Made a same-day evening appointment, and was helped right away upon arrival. Filled out a short questionnaire on the computer and was seen by the doctor. She was super thorough and helpful in answering my questions. She made suggestions and the glasses exam was relatively quick, although I never felt rushed. I was ushered into the area with all the glasses and was told to feel free to look around, as the only worker was busy with other customers. Fine by me because I'm indecisive and don't want someone staring at me while I try on a million pairs of glasses. Once helped (not long after), she was very nice but honest with her opinion on certain frames, and made it a point to tell me not to rush on a decision (even though it was near closing time). Now I wait for my new super cute Armani Exchange glasses.. Hoping they won't take the 10 days to arrive as I was quoted, but I won't be too upset if they do. Can't rush perfection! I came to this target optical because I'm addicted to target and also I needed my first pair of glasses. Not only was the quote over the phone for lenses way less than Lens Crafters, I was blown away by the service in person. The two sales people were so friendly and still kept the balance of giving me plenty of space to try on 800 frames. When I came back to pick up my glasses they remembered who I was by name before I even said what I was there for. There was no icky commission vibe, just friendly people who seem to like their job. The doctor was so cute and had the sweetest personality it made the whole exam situation a pleasure. I had to come back because I think the initial prescription was too strong. I just happened to stroll in because my glasses broke... Again. I spent well over $600 on a pair at LensCrafters and didn't want to spend so much for a pretty bad pair of glasses. So glad I went to Target! Even though it's a chain, the employees were all very friendly and helpful. TJ, the sales person, was very calm and patient even though it's such a pain to choose the right frames. He was very clear on everything that was priced from the anti-glare in the sunglasses to the extra protection cost for replacement. Dr. Mai Tang was also very kind and I felt like she was looking out for me. She found a little issue from the dilation and decided to take pictures to show me a possibility for an issue later in life. She even helped me book an appointment for a specialist. I must say I was completely surprised by the quality of attention I received. Dr. Mai Tang served me and gave me a thorough exam, informed me of my condition and made some outstanding recommendations. I incorrectly thought because it was a Target location I would probably get a pedestrian service but I trusted the previous reviews and took a chance and I'm glad I did. Now there is politics involved with eye glass frames and 90% of them are owned by one giant conglomerate who set those high prices so I can't really blame Target. That being said, their frames are about $30-$50 less than my regular OD. Additionally, since the clerk assistants aren't paid to up sell you, there is no pressure for the add-ons like poly carbonate etc. They could care less, they just want you to be happy with your order and that attitude coupled with Dr. Tang will keep me coming back. read more

Since they have changed staff this is the worst customer service I have experienced and I'll never go back. I broke my hinge on the temple of a pair of glasses that I bought here a year or so ago. I brought them in to see what they could do. This young Latina lady thick eyebrows not to heavy set beautiful faced girl tells me they are broke. "Of course they are that's why I'm here." She tells me there's nothing they can do. She has no clue when I got them she never asked me my name, looked up my account in the computer or anything just tells me I can take them somewhere to get soldered. Really I can't believe this. Didn't even offer me to get new glasses. Had the money in my pocket for a new pair of glasses. Needless to say I'll never go back to Target for glasses. That was my first mistake. I had a bad experience here. Dr Tang was incredibly rude and impatient with me. I was not sure if my eyes were being extra sensitive but I came in to update my prescription from a year ago. By the end of the appointment that I had made, she literally told me "you have to go right now, come back again and make another appointment." Throughout the entire appointment she was snippy with me when I was trying to inform her of my recent eye issues. I will be seeing a new doctor next time. My schedule is crazy and needed to get in soon. I checked out their online scheduling and saw there were a few openings that day. Super easy, I put in my info with insurance and boom I had an appointment for that afternoon. When I got there the girls in the optical department were all smiles, they checked me in, verified my vision insurance and I had my eye exam. Dr Tang was so nice and thorough, she answered all my questions and 30 minutes later I was done. Went back to the Optical side, chose the cutest pair of glasses and ordered my contacts. They gave me extra discounts by showing my AAA card and an extra 5% off for using my Target red card. My glasses should be done in about 10 days and they told me that if I wanted a second pair I could get them for 50% off.
