I hate going to the eye doctor. I dread hearing that my prescription has changed and that I need to buy new glasses. The staff at this location makes it as pleasant as it can be. The eye doctor is a really cool person and fun to talk to. She gives honest advice about if you really need to update your glasses or not. At the front counter, Katy, is the nicest person and works hard to apply your insurance and any discounts to get you a deal. I walked out with a new, free pair of glasses thanks to her diligence. If you need an eye exam, this is a great option. read more

My adult daughter has used Target Optical for the last 3-4 years. She had a great experience at this Oakley location the first time she visited but went to the Beavercreek location for her next visit due to living closer to that location and had an absolutely awful experience. She decided to come back to this location. There was a snafu with our insurance the day before and we were told that we would have to pay full price since they couldn't get the insurance to go through. I called the insurance company, who found no issue. They called this Target, with me on the line, to get it straightened out. I have to mention that the young woman who answered the phone that evening was so incredibly rude. She had no idea I was on the phone as she snapped at the insurance professional. She even questioned the person's role with our insurance company. At one point she rattled off the extra verifications she would now need as proof of coverage since it had been 'rejected' on her end. Thankfully, our insurance professional was very patient and calm and gave her what she demanded, while informing her that I was on the phone. She softened a bit but was still rude. Needless to say, it was a turn off to this optical company. We had an astoundingly awful experience with the Beavercreek location a couple of years ago all because the woman working at that store repeatedly refused to run our insurance, was terribly rude, and told us to pay up front and be reimbursed. That's not how our insurance works. We had to call our insurance company to straighten it out. She then grudgingly ran our insurance. So... here we are again with a different location, a different associate but with similar behavior. I should mention that our insurance is a well known company, they take our insurance, we only have minimal copays and spend well above upfront for the designer frames my daughter always picks. Reading other reviews on both these locations it seems to be a common issue with the people hired to work for Target Optical. It can take some time to run insurance and get the needed verifications and the staff can not be so lazy that they refuse to do their job. Also, when we were at the Oakley location, all of our information had to be repeatedly entered into the computer. Repeatedly. It became comical. It was mentioned by an associate that it's their computer system that keeps 'booting out claims'. So - it's highly likely that the continual problem with insurance this company has is with their computer system. But instead of rectifying it some staff take it out on the customer. That has been our experience with two different locations. The service on the day of the appointment went well and is the reason I didn't rate this location lower. The doctor on staff here, Donna, is great and my daughter likes her quite a bit! The doctor is friendly and thorough. The older gentleman and woman that were working when we came in were very friendly and helpful. While the day of the service was pleasant - the interaction with the young woman the night before has left a negative feeling towards Target Optical for me. I had a good experience with a walk in appointment last year. The doctor was friendly but the guy working at the front desk who handles the paperwork is a little pressuring for you to order frames and/or contact lenses. Don't succumb! I would've given them 4 stars last year with one star off for the guy. Figuring that I had a positive experience last year, I would return this year. I decided to make an appointment this time. Conveniently, I could do that online. The day before my appointment I got a call to confirm my appointment. Then a couple of hours later, I got another call. It was the same guy working at the frames counter last year who took care of my paperwork after my eye exam. This time he was asking me for my insurance. I politely told him I would bring my card tomorrow at my appointment and he pushed for my information anyway. I gave him my name and my birthdate and he said he couldn't find me. I reiterated that I would bring my information tomorrow. He then had the audacity to threaten me and say that if I didn't give my insurance information now I might have to pay full price tomorrow. How incredibly rude. I told him my insurance from last year hasn't changed and I checked the list of providers on my insurance's website and it listed Target Optical. Yet, the guy wouldn't let it go. It got to the point where I thanked him for calling and said if it was going to be this difficult I didn't need to be a returning customer. It's too bad they still keep this guy around. Maybe he's very efficient at his job but he needs better a customer service attitude. I'll take my business elsewhere and drive the extra miles to another target optical or to another doctor who can keep patient records in order (i.e. insurance info) and be friendly. read more

Target Optical is the place to go when glasses are needed! Their service and hospitality can't be found at many places anywhere. They went above and beyond to ensure that I was taken care of and informed along the way. Appointments are available online, and they were right on time when I arrived. The doctor was efficient and very informative to ensure that I was comfortable with every step along the way. The performed their tests and were able to make reccomendations on what would help immediately and long term. Once it came time to pick out the frames, they made recommendations and were able to offer discounts. My glasses were ordered and came in less than one week, so I was very happy! Overall, I would highly recommend if you are looking for a new pair of glasses! read more

I had been going to Target Opitcal for years & over the course of those years, there was this one Cincinnati, Ohio Rep./Cashier who was very "Persistent!" Can't think of his name, (Bald Guy) so, I have decided to stop going. My Doctor, she, was very Professional, Pleasant & Informative but when it's time to select your Glasses, this guy killed my whole experience. I told him several times, I just wanted a Plain, Regular Pair of Glasses without all the "Extras" but he kept being "Persistent!" I just received a Letter from them today 3/30/22 asking for me to return for an Eye Exam after not coming for 2 1/2 years along with several discounts. Again, because of that "Persistent" Rep./Cashier, I won't be returning. Poor & Persistent Customer Service can really hurt a Business. read more

So a review of a Target was something I never thought I'd do. I was in a pinch and needed an eye appointment ASAP. Target Optical had a convenient time for an appointment on a Saturday... and I could make the appointment online. Walking in I was skeptical, I had no tea expectations, I've always thought that going to the Eye Doctor was worse experience then the dentist. This was the easiest eye exam I've ever had, they had great prices on frames, so I ended up ordering a pair of Ray-Bans paying almost nothing out of pocket. What's even better if your someone who needs to have your eyes dilated during the exam the person bringing you (I have really sensitive eyes), they can shop at Target while they wait. Still they won't have time because of how efficiently do fast the appointment was... I was in and out in less then 40 mins with buying frames and having the lenses fitted to the frame. I highly recommend Target Optical to everyone! read more

My daughter made an appointment for 3PM, so I had to take off work to take her. Because of traffic, we were running about 5 minutes late, so we called, and they said no problem as long as we got there by 3:30, as the 3:30 slot was open. But when we got there (3:10), we were told we didn't have an appointment. We said we did, but were told we had not confirmed the appointment by phone, so it was canceled. I said we confirmed the appointment when we called and made it, that I had taken off work to make the appointment, that we were even good enough to call and inform them that we were running a few minutes late due to traffic, and that it was no problem, because the 3:30 slot was open . . . didn't matter. We were told we could wait around and if someone didn't show up, we could have their slot. I said could they guarantee to get us in, and they said no promises . . . just wait and see. Un acceptable. They acted like it was our fault because they canceled the appointment (without contacting us to tell us it was canceled), and were downright rude . . . not apologetic, but RUDE. I would not do business here for anything, and will be writing my complaints to Target. read more

I was surprised by how good the equipment was. I had an eye exam and found a pair of glasses in about 20 minutes. They also fixed my current pair of glasses free of charge. I will definitely be going back. read more

Dr. Minichello was great. Visit was quick but informative. I didn't plan on purchasing glasses but ended up finding a pair I liked. The staff was great helping me place my order. My frames came in early and it's so convenient to pick up at Target. I'll definitely continue to have my exams here! read more
