I was really excited to learn that Target had an optical center when I found out that my son needed glasses. I drove 25 minutes away to come check out the selection of glasses after receiving a prescription from a different place. (Can't speak to their Drs) I arrived on a Wednesday and there was 1 employee sitting with someone who'd come to pick up her prescription. She was being very personable and attentive to her customer. I waited patiently and happily with my 4 children. They were well behaved while waiting. During the wait time a gentleman came in that had an appt.
The woman at the store then seemed a bit anxious and irritated at our presence. She made a few passive aggressive comments that made me feel like she had no desire to help us. She seemed understandably stressed with 3 customers at once and only her. I get it.
However.... she was NOT kind to me or helpful. I asked her several times to show me what glasses were the least expensive so that my insurance would hopefully cover the glasses. I'm a widow and it's Christmas time. Her only reply was to just let my son pick out which ones he liked and she'd price them. My son is on the autism spectrum, so once she said that out loud it would've been very stressful for me to explain things to him. He won't wear the glasses if he doesn't like them. He would've happily picked between two pairs that were more affordable for me which is why I wanted HER to show me those pairs like 2 other places had done before I came here. She clearly just wanted to be done with us and move on... I understand. I would've appreciated her telling me that her appt was in and she needed to tend to him and come back to us. It's TARGET. I would've happily walked around and killed some time to get better service. I wish I would have just offered that but it was hard for me to interact well with her. I was nervous and felt the irritation.
So, my son grabbed a pair he liked and we checked out as quickly as possible. I noted a significantly less level of interaction and friendliness than the woman before us received. It didn't feel great.... customer service matters. I think this lady shouldn't have been on the floor alone and she also needs to be okay with being honest in a polite way. I would've been happy to make something work differently to avoid the awful experience I feel we had.
When we picked up the glasses yesterday we weren't talked to about the care or really anything. They checked the fit and then done. Is that typical? We weren't offered anything to clean them... I didn't realize until we left. I would've liked to purchase a cloth at least. This just didn't feel right all around.
As much as I love Target and think the glasses selections are cute I wouldn't want to come here again. I ended up paying a lot more than I needed to. I should've just left.... it was hard paying that much at Christmas time, unnecessarily. She could've cared just a tad more and saved us at least a little bit of money. If the employees don't have any idea or are unwilling to help with pricing then it should be more clearly marked in the open so that customers can make a fair and informed choice while being rushed to make a major decision. read more
