This place has Dr, Cooley. He is good and had always treats me nice. The staff however is different. I scheduled an Eye appt on line and wasn't informed that my insurance would not cover me until 2 days from the date of my appointment. I asked them why they didn't reschedule my appointment and their answer was we don't do that. The general manager claimed he left me a voice mail but that was not the case. after using them for many years I have decided to go elsewhere moving forward. read more

Do not recommend. Had an appt scheduled and confirmed via text. Got to the appt and was told I didn't have an appt and I was put in overflow. I had to sit and wait either for a no show or a cancelation. The wait would be anywhere from 30mins on up. The first appointment was great. Everybody was so helpful. We went back to get an adjustment for my husband's glasses and I wanted to ask a question about my glasses. The lady who helped us adjusted his glasses and then I asked about mine. She said they would have to look at my records to see if my glasses were good for computers, but not once did she offer to look at the records, and no I should not needed to ask her to do this since she is the one who suggested it. My husband didn't want to tell her that the glasses weren't adjusted to his liking because she didn't really act like she wanted to help much. And no, they were not busy. We were the only ones waiting. So, I guess we will be looking for a new place next year after we just started going to them this year. read more

They herd people like cattle, rush the appointment, which isn't the doctors fault, it's the companies and once you've paid for your eyewear they couldn't care less. The woman that helped me order my glasses and contacts was nice but the others, not so much. I spent over 700 for glasses and a few months of contacts. I received a bot call that my "eyewear" was in. I took off work to go get them and it's just the contacts. Wasted trip. Program your bots to get it together. I had also wanted a pair of sunglasses when I was selecting glasses but didn't have time to order them. One of the woman told me she'd put it in my file. Of course that was not done and they re-arranged the sunglasses so I couldn't find the ones I wanted when I went back. The girl behind the desk didn't help and didn't even offer to. Was just "m kay" We don't live in Southpark, snarky little condescending *** hat! Lost sale. Now it's been over two weeks and I still don't have my glasses. Which I saw have a massive markup when I found the same ones online. The website (which is ridiculously clunky, seriously why no app?) says "we need a bit more time, moved to priority status" but no one has bothered to contact me. I ordered eyeglasses in January 2024 and today is April 1, 2024 and I haven't received them yet. The first pair I received was not made correctly screws loose and couldn't be tightened so I have to manually adjust them multiple times every day. Adam the supervisor tried to tell me they are supposed to be like that. I told him absolutely not let's go look at the display. Needless to say I was right so they ordered another pair which I'm currently waiting on. Also the staff is rude they don't care the lady who answered the phone as Stephanie or Bethany which she changed her name when I told her I was writing this review. I was on hold for 15 minutes just to be told they don't know why they are delayed. So I have to call the manufacturer (VSP) myself to find out what's going on. Furthermore I asked for an email because they claim they don't have a corporate office. I sent an email to the address the supervisor Adam gave me and nobody ever responded. I'm not surprised. This establishment gets no stars. I spent over $600.00 dollars on Prada eyeglasses with them. Worst experience and customer service I've ever received in my 44 years on this earth. I've been going to MyEyeDr at the Greenbrier Mall location in Chesapeake, VA for about 10 years now. They've never been stellar, but they've been adequate. Last night my husband and I both had appointments, and we both had a very bad time. We both saw Dr. Russel Bessell. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more pompous jerk. As soon as he learned about where I worked, he spent the first 10 minutes of my "exam" mansplaining to me about my job. I kept reminding him that I've been at my job 10 years, and thus know the history of it already. But no, I had to hear more stories about my own workplace...even though he was incorrect most of the time. Once he was done pontificating, he said, "Your eyes are still 3.5." Wait...what? He hadn't even examined my eyes yet. He was ready to send me on my way without looking at my eyes even once. I said, "No, I'm having trouble seeing." I mean, that's why I'm there. So I told him how I couldn't read the eye chart across the room. I had to FIGHT with him just to get him to conduct the exam. When he finally put the large glasses over my eyes and flicked around a few lenses, he declared again that my eyes hadn't changed...even though I had not yet correctly identified any of the lines of letters on the eye chart. I literally could not see any of the letters--and I told him so. So he flicked the lenses around again on the giant eyeglasses and said, "Oh yeah, your eyes are actually 3.75." Then he took me to put a pair of contacts in my new prescription. This time, I could definitely see better, but I still was having trouble reading the eye chart. He insisted that he had given me the perfect prescription, even though my right eye was just struggling. He told me it was an "air bubble" and proceeded to manually pop it with his finger on my eye. I've been wearing contacts for the last 16 years...I know how this works. I know my eyes. I know what contacts feel like and how they behave. But when he suggested that I try a different pair of the same prescription and type, I humored him. I must give him this much credit at least: the second pair were better. I could definitely see clearer, so that first pair must have been faulty. However, my right eye was still blurry. I asked if maybe it was possible that my eyes were different prescriptions. He denied it, and pretty much made it sound like it's impossible for eyes to even BE different prescriptions. Today, I'm still having trouble with them. My left eye is perfect with the new prescription, but my right eye is not. I'm going to go and get a second opinion from a different eye doctor, and I will never return to MyEyeDr again. I was sent a reminder about my yearly exam so I scheduled. I have gone to the VA Beach location multiple times and have never had any issues. I scheduled with Chesapeake because it is closer to where we moved. I showed up for my appointment and was checked in, did pre-testing and taken back when the doctor, not the 2 others that went over my paperwork said that my insurance would not yet cover because I wasn't at the 1 year mark. (I was sent a reminder to schedule for yearly) rescheduled for a week later. Showed for my appointment and when I checked in she said I never confirmed. I showed her my email confirmation that said we will see you this day at this time. She said they were booked and I would have to reschedule. I said I was rescheduled for this day and I have confirmed and am here for my appointment and they proceeded to say they could not fit me in I could come back another day. I don't like to leave reviews and understand things happen but this was a huge inconvenience not once, but twice. It's sad that you cannot get good customer service anywhere you spend money. No apology, no explanation, just you can come back. You have lost a customer of 5 years for poor customer service. read more

If it was possible to give this place 0 stars I would. I showed up 10 minutes early for my appointment and they made me wait 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time to be seen by the eye doctor. I was quoted $149 once over the phone and twice while in the office and they charged me $243 once the exam was over. Absolutely would not recommend!! Even though they say they take all insurances, they called me the morning before my appointment to say that they can't take mine. I ordered contact lenses through them because of the promotion that it comes with a free pair of sunglasses and they never gave me the sunglasses. read more

Great place to get your eyes checked out. They take most insurances and are very friendly. My doctor actually saw me on time and managed to have me in and out pretty efficiently. As for choices they had lots. I was able to choose from lots of brand name frames for not brand name prices. I ended up choosing a pair from Vera Bradley. They were covered by my insurance and look awesome on me. Plus I didn't have to pay very much out of pocket. I also got contacts done in the same trip. Their staff are very friendly and their location inside Greenbrier Mall makes them an easy stop when you are out and about. read more

Terrible. Typically spend 600-1000 dollars on glasses at this location for The past few years and always swore it was good. I'll unfortunately never return for business. I ordered glasses and told them I needed them Before 10/19/2020. They reassured me that that was way beyond the time the glasses would be done. That I had nothing to worry about. They call me On the 18th Sunday Afternoon to tell Me that they won't be arrive for another 7-10 days and couldn't even tell me exactly when they wouldn't arrive. I ordered them well in advance because of the urgency I would Be leaving town and any date after that would be too late. That's just the mistake of not going to same Day glasses. Horrible customer service. I paid for a contact lens and glasses eye exam but was told in order to receive my pupillary distance I'd have to pay an additional $35. I ordered contacts from them at a markup price ($70 per box) in which I was told I'd receive a $50 rebate when I received my contacts that came three weeks after ordering them. I did not receive the rebate as promised for ordering a year supply of contacts, and my pupillary distance should've been on my eyeglass prescription. This is not my first time having issues with customer service as I've been coming to this location for years, but needless to say I will never be back. I did not order glasses from them because their frames are dated and overpriced, and I am appalled that they would charge a $35 fee to release my pupillary distance which was taken during my eye appointment. read more

My regular eye doctor would not work with me to change my appointment so I could use my insurance benefits by the end this year. We walked in to this place and was able to pick out glasses and be seen by the optometrist within 1 hour, due to someone cancelling their appointment. We actually received better benefits and care, Doctor Samantha Duplak was very knowledgeable, and explained everything to me, very nice personality. If I could rate a zero star experience, I would. We ordered glasses from them a week ago and were told that the date they would be ready was January 21st. We got a text last night, stating the glasses were ready. We drove an hour, one-way, to pick up the glasses today. When we arrived at the office, we were told that someone from another office had "miskeyed" the text and the glasses were not ready. We also had a question about our bill and tried to explain our concern. After a few minutes of trying to figure it out, the employee went back and got the general manager and he came out to ask how he could make our experience better. He was TOTALLY condescending and made zero effort to improve our experience whatsoever. We ended up cancelling our order and will NEVER use My Eye Dr again. In reviewing our online statement through our insurance company, we also discovered that My Eye Dr overcharged us by $30. Just own up to making a mistake and make it right - don't blame another office, don't be condescending - just make it right for the customer. If you need glasses or contacts, find a place that treats you as a customer should be treated and won't charge you more than you should be. read more

Made an appointment online 2-3 weeks prior to the actual appointment. Arrive at this location with my 2 children and get told they weren't in the system. I then showed both confused employees the email confirmation. Then another employee comes over and says their appointments had been cancelled and had been trying to call me for 3 days. When I present said employee with the question "yeah I never received a phone call and what number were you calling?" He just smiled and said yeah sorry they have no appointments. So I left...next day interesting enough I actual got a phone call saying they wanted to schedule my child for an annual eye exam (one of the children I had brought the day before) so your one employee lied when he said he attempted to call my phone for 3 days because never had a missed call or voicemail from you all and now you want to schedule my child an eye exam after I was told you don't accept my insurance and when I said I got your information of my insurance website to get a snarky remark "their database is outdated" Yeah you guys will NOT get my business after the 2 minute interaction with your so called employees. I work in customer service and even train/supervise employees to give great customer service..well guess what you all Failed!!! Update: called this location about the phone call I received about scheduling a child. Whoever I spoke with was unfriendly and frankly rude as hell. I asked why I received a call when clearly you all don't accept my insurance. And she says well you were in the system for a call back...I said you guys don't accept my insurance and she said well since you were I the database to call back to call and reschedule an appointment. Clearly she wasn't listening to me...so then she said well we have no insurance information in our systems. What the hell hell..now I'm told no insurance information is in your system but it appears in notes. So when I asked why again did I receive this phone call your said employee goes "are you going to make an appointment, yes or no" umm why would I make an appointment when you clearly don't accept my insurance and after the rudeness of this employee over the phone. I could not take a day off from work so I sent my daughter to myeyedr. Greenbrier location alone. Man!did they take advantage! She wanted contacts and they only gave her 20 minutes to try to insert them, she never had contacts before, and they told her it would be an extra $100 for them to teach her how to insert them! My first time getting contacts, I was given as much time and assistance as I needed. Thank goodness I had a competent woman who made putting them in a breeze. I have an EXCELLENT insurance plan and my husband is retired military! The last time I took her for an exam, at a different myeyedr location, I paid a $15 co-pay and that was all. Greenbrier charged my daughter nearly $100 for things she didn't need or ask for and what should have been covered by our insurance! Total ripoff and I am beyond p!ssed! Do not send your child to this GREENBRIER location! Better yet, get your exam elsewhere and then take your prescription to Costco! read more
