The wonderful lady taking my order is the reason I will continue to go back! She was so kind and helpful! She altered my order to make it perfect for what I was looking for! I ordered the Chicken Kabab plate and a side of pickles! Everything was packed full of flavor and the portion was perfect for dinner and lunch the next day! Do not forget to order the garlic sauce! It's delicious!! It is a bit pricy for the small solo cup it comes in ($1.75) but great to put on the chicken! The booth section inside is cute and cozy! It's a larger restaurant inside with adequate space between tables so you won't be bumping into others while dining in. If you haven't yet, you have to go. We had an amazing dinner! I forgot to take pictures because I couldn't wait to eat!! (I included pics from the menu) We had the Mixed Salad Plate with hummus, saba ganouj, cucumber salad, falafel, pita and an eggplant salad. It came with two dolmas and two falafel so we added a side of 3 falafel and extra tzitziki. We also got an order of kibba potato bites, which had a delicious ground meat filing with warm spices. The food was amazing, generous portions, everything was so flavorful!! The customer service was on point and they were very friendly and encouraged us to come back and talk to the chef, that he would be happy to make a sampler plate of kababs so we could try everything! Well we will definitely be back!! There is a bonus, they have an outstanding selection of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean spices, along with a fun selection of drinks. read more

Inside out: this place is just comfy and cozy and full of exciting things to look at and try. From the outside it may not look very exciting, but I think they've done wonders with the inside for a good environment. Service: here's a place that really earns five stars. I've never had a bad experience. Everyone is incredibly sweet. They didn't know it, but I came there for a comfort meal after we lost one of our pets and I'm pretty sure I looked seven shades of heartbroken, the woman behind the counter brought me out a bite of fresh falafel while I waited and I would be lying if I didn't cry in the car about it after. It was just a solid moment of human kindness. Food: it's seriously my favorite place to get food in Boise and my comfort meal every time. I like getting the mixed salad and the baba ghanoush is to die for. We always grab drinks from the coolers and then look around the grocery for something interesting and new to try, if you like sweets, they've got a lot of good variety! If you are looking for an authentic Iraqi restaurant, you MUST try this place. We loved our private booth to eat at, & the food was amazing. The price is extremely reasonable for the HUGE portion size. The Iraqi sandwich with lamb had the most incredible flavors, the lamb was perfect. It came with a huge amount of delicious French fries drizzled in sauce, 3 sides of dip (one was some kind of garlic butter it was phenomenal) a small salad & delicious hummus to dip your sandwich/ fries in all for $13.99. My husband got a big plate of hummus with lamb & their homemade naan for only $10.. it had so many incredible flavors and was just perfect. After arriving in Boise, we wanted to grab a quick lunch before heading out of the city and found this cute spot. It's not in the greatest area, but according to signs, they will be moving to a different part of the city and a larger building. It's a super casual spot and you order at the counter from what looks like a husband and wife cooking team . It is primarily Middle Eastern food and has a lot of wonderful options. Since my friend and I were familiar with that part of the world, we were super excited about all of the offerings! The prices aren't too bad and you get a pretty good size portion for the cost. They also have gluten-free options, so make sure to mention that if that is your situation. I was able to get hummus, but in place of pita, they cut up cucumber for me to use as a dipping utensil into the hummus. I also ordered tabola, which is similar to tabouli and very green and tasty. The hey have to-go lids so if you don't finish everything they can box it up - but we enjoyed it all so are most of it! They have a wall of community photos talking about the work in Boise with resettled immigrants from the Middle East which is pretty cool. We didn't have time to talk to them about it but would if able to come back. I highly recommend trying this delicious restaurant or ordering catering or a to-go meal. Yummy! read more

Went in happy and left depressed. Food was uninspired and disgusting. Shawarma wasn't shawarma but dusty chicken so dried it might have been plucked from Jesus' side while He hung on the cross. The lamb tasted like jerky - lamb is usually sumptuous and this was far from it. We left our food barely eaten. Our waiter was a sweet young man who was attentive and respectful. I absolutely love this place. Been coming here for years. What I don't like it how expensive it has gotten. I swear there have been times where extra prices have been added to my meal. I did some math on prices and added taxes, and it was $10 cheaper than what they charged. Today I called and asked for 1 lamb kabob and 1 chicken. I also ordered three other things. I get there and my price is over $60. They made me two different meals. One lamb and one chicken kabob meal. Not what I wanted and not what I ordered. It is so dang hard to correct them because they are so nice!!! Definitely makes me come here less and less. I don't want to be charged and made for what I didn't want. I'm so glad that I did some research before our party of seven arrived at Boise airport, because Tarbush Kitchen was a hit with everyone! Both my husband and I each got the mixed salad with falafel, and we both loved it. Everyone else loved they got too. The owner was gracious and helpful, and it was easy for us to find a table big enough for all of us. If we had been a smaller group, it would've been really cool to sit in one of the cute cubbies they have set up. (Currently this place is closed because of a car running into the building.) Once they are opened back up, make sure to stop by and get your favorite Mediterranean dish. I am a huge fan of the Chicken Sharma and dolma, I struggle to order anything else because I love it so much. Talk about massive servings with the Chicken Shwarma (and other dishes too). I often order knowing it will make two or three meals. Hummus is an excellent choice for an little snack prior to your main course. No guilt. I often get my order to go and if you don't know what to order, go to their main website and each item on the menu has a colorful picture. If you are like me, I want to see the food! If you do look at their picture menu on their website (there are a ton of pictures here on yelp too but their website has it all in one scroll), be prepared to want everything! I want that, that, that, that, that,.... oh and probably that. Salam and Aseel Bunyan are just deeply welcoming and fun to chat with! When I look at the number or reviews from those in CA or OR with less than 5 reviews on their account (all giving 5 stars) - it seems clear that people want free baklava or hot tea, as they advertise at the table when you sit down. But they need to read your review first before getting the token item. I have better ethics and higher standards than that. Maybe the restaurant section is on the slide. When we were shown to our table, I noticed the raised platform where you can sit on the floor and was like, oh absolutely yes. We asked if we could sit there and suddenly we had this whole cozy room to ourselves. He even drew the curtain so it felt private and special -- chef's kiss. The food was incredible. The chicken marsala was out-of-this-world good, the naan was warm and delicious, and the kebabs were fresh with perfectly seasoned, tender meat. Everything tasted thoughtful and made with care. But the real standout? The service. Hands down. The owner kept checking in on us, making sure we were good, asking if we needed anything, joking with us -- just the right balance of attentive and chill. By the end of the night, he even shared a bit of his story and talked about where he lived in Afghanistan, which made the whole experience feel even more meaningful. The pita tasted homemade; it was soft, thick without being too think and didn't taste chalky. The skewers were exceptionally cooked...tender, flavorful pieces of chicken and beef. The kefta (lamb & beef) patties had a nice texture, which was enhanced with the herbaceous tzatziki sauce. The only disappointment was the chorizo as it was overcooked and dry. Based on the photo menu, I expected the falafel to come with some kind of a dipping sauce. I also ordered a side of garlic sauce for my gyro meat. The owner Mohammed was very friendly and outgoing. I enjoyed speaking with him. There was another gentleman working with him, who was cooking in the back. Mohamed answered all of my questions. One of the things I wanted to know before I ordered was if they were using one of the popular brands of gyro meat such as Kronos, which and you can purchase just about anywhere. I was told they did not. I was impressed to see that this business serves Coke from Mexico. I commented on that to Mohammed, including that I haven't had real Coke since I was a teenager. He insisted on giving me one to drink while I wait. It was excellent! My food came out fairly quickly. I drove home and opened the box to discover that the cook forgot to give me any sauce for my falafel, nor was there any garlic sauce. I really enjoyed the gyro meat. The falafel was pretty good but needed a little more seasoning, as did the hummus. The small salad had good flavor. I did not care for the pita bread. It was very thin and seemed a bit dry. I've been postponing my review in hopes of being able to revisit this business and try some more of their food, but it's been a while since I've seen them around. I'm hoping they will see this review and let me know if they have a new location.
