Not sure how this was possible

The restaurant is very cute and great ambiance. It does get crowded for the happy hour crowd. I can't attest to the food, as I only had a drink but felt compelled to leave a review as the service was not great and it's EXPENSIVE. The cosmo was very good but not that good! I wanted to debate it but I could NOT get the servers attention and I was running late for an appointment. If it wasn't for the prices I would be back. Again this is just based on the drink, can't opine on the food although the prices on happy hour food specials looked reasonable

I've walked by this place a million times and never walked in. I bought a TGTG bag of pastries and being directionally challenged, got lost trying to find the place. (Please don't judge me!). I ended up calling as the GPS kept routing me to the Rothman's Men's clothing store. A team member was kind enough to help, staying on the phone w/ me and even looking for me outside. That act of kindness made sure that I would come back to support the establishment. Btw, the TGTG pastries I received were good! We decided to try their brunch menu. I went with their Uova Al Tartufo aka House brioche, scrambled organic eggs, rosemary ham, provolone, black truffle aioli and home fries. My husband went with their Uova E Asparagi aka asparagus, potatoes, parmigiano, pink peppercorn, poached organic eggs and smoked salmon. His dish came with the option of either smoked salmon or choice of bacon. I can't speak for him as I didn't try his dish but he said it was outstanding. Mine was pretty much the same! I am not a big fan of creamy but I love truffle so I battled putting tiny swabs of aioli on my meal as I ate. It was so good! The portions were just right, the staff was attentive and nice! Our waitress gave us one of the best tables in the place, one of the two booths in the back. Looking forward to trying their dinner menu. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND!

This neighborhood favorite made our Christmas dinner truly exceptional . The food was delicious and authentically Italian, clearly prepared with care and tradition . The service was outstanding, with knowledgeable and attentive servers who made the evening feel warm and special . A wonderful holiday experience and a place we are always happy to return to .

House white wine and calamari.

This Italian wine bar and bistro was established at this location in 2001 and then expanded to NoMad and UWS and a cafe at the Cooper Hewitt Museum. I stopped in for the great Happy Hour. Service was great. The bartender was attentive! I ordered the house white (not bad!) $10 and calamari ($11) which was cooked to perfection. The only issue I had was with the fake flowers displayed at the bar which is very roomy! I would suggest getting fresh cut flowers. The restaurant is close to Union Square. I'm sure they can do a deal with the flower sellers there!

I went there for a casual lunch on a weekend. I was famished so was really hoping for something substantial with Italian pasta, but I was surprised to see how tiny the portions were relative to the price. I'm a tiny person and I left starving. We walked to the dragonfest to get some other food items instead. The food wasn't bad but wasn't memorable and the portion size was too small to warrant the pricing. I was not a fan ultimately. It was $68.51 including tip for two people and two dishes.

Cheeseboard Arugula Artichoke and walnut salad

The menu had a lovely classic selection. We enjoyed the olives and a delicious cheeseboard which was beautifully presented and good portions. The artichoke salad was my favourite.

We reserved a team lunch here for group of 6. Our table was ready upon arrival. The restaurant has a nice European rustic vibe, with a bar area in front, and outdoor seating as well, weather permitted. It's a full on Italian lunch menu, if you are not familiar with Italian dishes, you would spend a lot of time in Google lol! The lunch menu is also different than dinner menu. We got the burrata for appetizer. Amazing flatbread with tomato sauce and outrageous burrata cheese. I made sure no cheese was wasted. All of us got variety of dishes from pasta, gnocchi to panini. They all loved and spoke highly of their food. I got the Salmon that was seared so beautifully. The skin was crisp, but a very soft tasty layer underneath. The vegetables on the dish were also cooked so well. The special blueberry non alcoholic drink was solid as well. Overall e had a fantastic team lunch. Service was incredible. We were in and out within an hour.

Visited on 2/4/2024 : I found this restaurant very pleasant for the occasion we came for. My friend just came from picking out her wedding dress with her family and her bridesmaids and it was also her birthday. The staff there gave us a complimentary dessert for her and sang happy birthday. They even greeted her and said happy birthday . I think it really made her day. My only complaint is I wish there is a way to add protein to some of the pasta options. However, I understand why they're probably wasn't any, but if they were to take this in the consideration, I would love to have added chicken to my dish. I don't mind paying extra for protein so money isn't an issue. But everything tasted delicious. I got the cacio e pepe.

My sugar donut with a nasty filling- wasted money

Bought a chocolate croissant , chocolate muffin and a sugar donut with cream filling. Here i am thinking i am going to have a great choice of little sweets for a midnight snack. To my surprise it was a huge disappointment. The sugar coated donut was good but when i cut it in half, i noticed the filling appeared to be raw, like if they had added too much flour, the filling was tasteless and added no flavoring to the donut. On the ither hand the sugar coating on the donut and the donut itself was ok, but at those prices, i say dint even bother. The chocolate croissant was ok, but Breads Bakery literally is down the block within a 2 minute walk. Of course they have amazing breads and if i want to indulge in something wickedly delicious and infused with real chocolate, chocolate babka is my choice. I will confess. Prior to picking up my donut, i had just had a chocolate babka-so you can imagine my disappointment level when i got home to try all my snacks. Anyways the chocolate croissant was just ok, nothing to talk about. The chocolate muffin, seemed have baked. The bottom part was overcooked and the top was undercooked. Live and learn, wont come back for pastries. I will stick to consistent well made bakeries at Breads Bakery.

Came here for a weeknight date! The staff was lovely. It brought me back to Italy. They really create an upscale Italian vibe. I recommend the Gamberi E Zucchine. I loved the white wine sauce. It was just the right consistency with a Lemmon essence. Unfortunately my pictures of the pastas got deleted, but we will definitely be back!

SO GOOD. We sat outdoors where we had a nice breeze for lunch. we tried a few cocktails which were sweet and delicious. For appetizers, we had the burrata and Caesar salad. I don't even eat salad and I thought it was AMAZING! The pastas were EXTREMELY GOOD. The short rib rigatoni was perfection, I highly recommend. The carbonara was creamy and also delicious. For dessert we tried the tiramisu and the lemon, mango and vanilla sorbet/gelato. The mango sorbet was so flavorful and refreshing, and the tiramisu was nice and creamy. Honestly an amazing lunch with great service. I can't wait to come back!

As I walked in and saw just how swanky this place is I panicked - there was no way we could just walk in here without a reservation, right? But the hostess was, thankfully, so down to earth. I was straight up like hey I totally messed up and thought we could just walk in here, she was like you know what, let me see what we have. Lo and behold, she did have a table for us - as long as we were out in an hour and a half, which was just the right amount of time. Stepping into this place feels like you're in some secret, super special cocktail club. Decor is super high end, vibes are upscale AF. The cocktail menu is incredible -- and incredibly pricey, but truly worth it. I ordered the Valentino which was strong and sweet, really well made. They gave out a complimentary nut mix that was also delicious. Service was swift and gracious. If you're looking for a spot to impress a date, this is it.

There's also seating on the second floor, perfect for couples or small groups. I tried two of their cocktails when I went. The first was the Eastern Julep, a delicious twist on a classic. The mint Moroccan tea gave the drink a cool, refreshing taste on every sip. I also tried the Silver Screen, the closest drink I could find to an old fashioned. It was interesting, there was definitely a hint of a buttery taste. Overall a really balanced bourbon drink. I walked in and found room at the standing tables. A bar seat eventually opened up but I was already on my second drink by then. Definitely make reservations if you're planning a visit!

The bar seating was plentiful and comfortable. There is plenty of space for people to stand behind the bar or a high top tables enjoying happy hour after work. If you go at 4:30 or 5, it's a bit calmer as the after work crowd trickles in. And as the evening went on, it started to get more and more packed, and it became a really lively vibe. After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. I ended up chatting with a woman sitting next to me who happened to work with select apertivo, and next thing I know one of the bartenders handed me a lovely bright cocktail to try on the house. It was a refreshing bubbly Barlume spritz that I'll definitely have to get again next time. Overall, I had a really great time at Barlume. The service was excellent from the servers and the bartenders, and they were all very attentive, personable and friendly throughout the evening. We had a nice table tucked in to a corner where we had a view of the kitchen and could sit next to each other on the bench seat. Our primary server, Luis, was helpful and lovely. I was impressed with the way the whole staff seemed to work together to serve, bus tables, ask if we needed anything and talk with us. I really have to say the service was superb. Shoutout to Chris who not only tended bar but worked the floor and to the lovely hostess whose name I wish I had gotten. But really the whole staff was just A+++. We shared the crispy artichokes (outstanding) and the cacio e Pepe arancini (where the fried parsley was especially unique and delicious) to start. I had the eggplant parmesan which reminded me of an eggplant dish I had in Venice -- but better. My husband had the ricotta cavatelli which was also great. For dessert I had the olive oil cake accompanied by lemon curd and --wait for it -- rosemary gelato. I was skeptical about this gelato, but it turned out to be a wonderfully fantastic surprise! My husband had the Apple Crostata which was also fantastic. The limoncello was a perfect way to end the meal. I was told by my husband that I can't shave off a star for Chef Tom not being there himself. So, I won't. Fair enough. But I'm still hoping I catch him another time.
