Restrooms are spacious and clean. Guacamole is served plentiful and with fresh, crispy chips in a nice wire basket with parchment type paper to absorb oil. Salted just right, the guacamole is served in a molcajete with a garnish of peeled grapes on a small vine. Those grapes had great flavor as well. The lunch specials were decent and we had a couple drinks which were tasty and visually appealing as well. I ordered the Enchiladas and to my surprise, when they were served, they were hot and cheesy. Took my first bite and was transported back to childhood, sitting at my abuela's mesa the surprise was pleasant and tugged at my heart strings. The plate comes with cilantro rice with a green color which was weird to me but very tasty. The beans were refried and had a great taste as well. We didn't get any tortillas so not sure that they serve them here. As the manager came around, I had to let him know that I was so pleasantly impressed at the transportation back to childhood. He verbalized his contentment at my experience when I simply came to celebrate my friend's birthday. Definitely will be back here again. 'lol

I also ordered the Mexican Benedict. The presentation was beautiful but the combination of ingredients made it a flavorful and balanced combination of deliciousness. The cornmeal pancake combined with the tomato jam and the spiced up hollandaise sauce over the slow cooked tender pork truly elevated the flavor on this Mexican spin on eggs benedict. Our server was attentive and helpful with re compensations as it was our first visit to the restaurant. The dining area is large with ample seating and beautiful elevated Mexican decor. I'm so glad I finally got off of 35 to try this restaurant after years of driving by.

I've given this place so many chances but last night was the final straw. I came in with my family…read moreand we ordered two large mixed fajita plates at $52 each. What we received was a platter with six pieces of chicken and six pieces of steak with a handful of onions, a dollop of sour cream and a pinch of cheese. Tortillas that were hard within two minutes. I understand inflation but $52 for literally 12 pieces of meat on what you call a large platter is absolutely criminal. We don't complain much at restaurants, but we did last night. Giving two stars because the manager was very understanding and made us an entire third large fajita plate and when that one came out, it had significantly more meat on it, worthy of the $52 price tag! This place was my pregnancy craving four years ago and it has gone so downhill. The chipotle sauce, which really was the craving is now completely tasteless and has been for the past few visits. Ordering takeout from here is even worse. With 1000 Mexican restaurants in the area they could do so much better. Unfortunately, this restaurant has lost our business.

I visited Adobe Cafe with friends recently. On one hand, their vegetarian plate was solid. No…read moreissues, the food was exactly what I ordered, and it was fresh and tasty. The beans were amazing. They have chips and salsa for the table, and they were good. Their virgin Pina Colada was also the bomb. That's the good part, the best part of the afternoon. Unfortunately, things went sideways quite a bit for my friends. One of them eats dairy free and gluten free. It was extremely difficult for her to find anything to eat there. At some point, a manager told her he'd have to reheat her tortillas in the microwave. Weird and disappointing option. She ordered the dish anyway, and it was just nothing noteworthy. My other friend had the seafood, a shrimp dish to be exact, and she had an upset stomach a couple of hours later that lasted until the evening. She hadn't eaten anything else. So we're not 100% sure it's because of this place, but seafood is a common culprit so it's very possible that it was. I don't think she finished her plate, if my memory serves me well. My husband had the chimichanga. I think it was fine. But it was dunked in beef tallow, which he had been warned about. I thought it was a strange thing to do, especially since you can fry it in normal oil and open the menu to vegetarians as well. Beef tallow is so 1851!... Out of all of us, I had the best experience, but I can't say the same or the rest of my party. Let's just say Adobe Cafe showed us the good, the bad and the ugly. Now, which one will you get when you visit? Spin the wheel of (mis)fortune and find out...

Long story short, I've now been to this location half a dozen or more times over the last several months. The service and food have been consistently good- no complaints. In all of those visits, only once have we experienced an issue, and it wasn't that huge. My friend ordered a certain sauce for his burrito but they were all out. It really wasn't that big of a deal for him, he just chose something else, but the issue prompted a table visit from the manager. Manager just wanted to apologize again for the inconvenience. I had the hatch grilled chicken...which was fantastic. The chicken was moist enough to cut with a fork alone. Do I think the fajitas are overpriced for what you get? Yes. Since it was over 100 degrees that day, we chose to sit inside. We will definitely be adding Herbert's to our list of places to go when we're craving Mexican food!

Additionally, Cantina del Rio advertising they have the "best margarita" made it all the worse that not only was it not the "best" or subpar, it was so bad half of us couldn't finish ours. And since I am being honest, locals warned me not to go to Cantina del Rio for the food, but the drinks were good. Taking that in consideration we have consistently avoided it until today, when all we wanted was a drink after a day in the river. I wish I could say at least the views were good, but after asking the hostess to sit us at the best seats in the house (it was late afternoon on a Tuesday so it was not an unfair request), we were sat outside to see the construction. No "rio". Not even a glimpse. I have to say we snacked on chips and salsa and queso and they were better than the drinks.
