The Burrito Bowl al pastor (marinated pork) is PHENOMENAL!
Lena C.

I was actually looking for a certain fast-food fresh-Mex place named after smoked jalapeños to order a burrito bowl from for my Friday work-from-home treat, but realized I should be prioritizing small businesses over chains with predictable food. It was the right call. 30 seconds after ordering through Yelp, El Tesoro called me to confirm which kind of pork I wanted on my burrito bowl. When they said they could do it al pastor, I jumped on it. The delivery driver arrived about half an hour later and I could smell the deliciousness through the bag. Everything was delicious. The pork was super flavorful and cut into manageable sized pieces (no knife required!) and the portion size was perfect. The red and green salsa and little bag of fresh tortilla chips was a really nice touch, too. I can't wait to visit this place and dine in sometime!

This was the burrito Supreme. steak, chicken & beef. loaded with fresh ingredients & the meat was loaded with flavor, so tender.

Taqueria Tesoro was one of the best tacos i've had in all of florida, they were absolutely delicious. The service was quick & our waitress was so kind. Also, the ambiance was incredible; such good music!

Taqueria Tesoro, 710 W, King St. Unit 115, Cocoa, FL 32922 5 Stars Glancing at my velocipede as I headed to the Big Boy Mobile, I thought, "Nah, not today." I wasn't going that far, but it was too far for me to ride comfortably. Where was I headed, you ask? My destination today was a Mexican joint by the name of Taqueria Tesoro. I must say that regardless of where you stand on immigration (legal or otherwise), you have to respect the food being brought into Florida from south of the border. As we have seen in big cities such as Chicago and Los Angeles, immigrants from Mexico and other Latin American countries are supplanting the native minority group. An enclave of fresh Hispanic immigrants has popped up in Cocoa and our stomachs are the better for it. Taqueria Tesoro has opened to serve the food needs of this burgeoning group of new Floridians (welcome, one and all!). Santiago is the manager and our server today. I ordered the Ceviche, the Burrito Supreme, and the Carne Asada, sat back, snapped pictures of their lovely ornamentation, and awaited my grub. I would be remiss if I didn't start with the complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were warmed and the salsa was fresh. What more needs to be said? As I was scarfing down the chips and salsa, my order appeared. Taking a few snapshots of the feast before me, I eagerly began to consume. Originating in Peru, Ceviche quickly spread throughout coastal Latin America. Shrimp, octopus, squid, tuna, and mackerel are popular in Mexican ceviche. The marinade usually consists of salt, lime, onion, chili peppers, avocado and cilantro. This ceviche was spot on. Everything was sea-fresh and the marinade was just tart enough to satisfy the most discerning palate. Sadly, I knew I couldn't finish it as I had more food to review. Oh, woe is me. The Burrito Supreme was of the wet variety. This means it was slathered in sauce. I was so surprised after my first bite that I just had to take another and peel it apart. Yep! That is hand-cut chicken breast in my burrito! If they went this far to ensure deliciousness, do I even need to get into the freshness of the tomato, lettuce, avocado and pico de gallo? The Carne Asada was on par with the Ceviche and the aforementioned Burrito Supreme. The meat was perfectly cooked, marinated in a tasty concoction of lime juice, salt and Mexican seasonings. I am unsure of the meat cut, but it was tender and extremely satisfying on the palate. The sides of refried beans and Mexican rice were also quite delicious. I assume they were made in the back and not from an industrial-sized can, as they tasted exceptionally fresh. The Big Boy says, "Save a buck and skip your next vacation to Mexico. You can eat here and get the real deal."

Clean, nice ambiance, prices were very fair too. Please ignore my taco pic as I had to hurry and it was swinging! My personal favorite was the Chicharron taco and it was fried to perfection! It was crispy without losing flavor or juiciness. Just the right amount of spice too. The tinga taco also has as very tasty and the cheese was a bonus. The sangria was flavorful and refreshing; I personally prefer sangria Blanca but this was tasty and not heavy. Just a hint of cinnamon to liven it up. I will try a sit down meal with them and soon! I'm a mole connoisseur so I'll get back to you!

Jamaica and fresca were delicious and genuinely fresh, a must with this kind of food. Though we were not here for a full dinner, we were told the queso fundido was a must try and it was! They sat a charded jalapeno dead center and mixing it all together took it to the next level. The tacos were underwhelming though. I had steak, chicken tinga and chicharron, the chicken tinga blew them away flavor wise. I did like the attention to detail and bite size of the chicharron. The tortilla itself was offputting texture wise. You couldn't fold it without ripping. We are willing to try again, we will see in the future!

Inside, we were immediately, warmly greeted and seated. Simple decor. The booths looked hand-carved as we have seen made in Mexico. Pleasant and artistic. Not overdone. We both got the Taco Special. $3 each. Chips & salsa arrived. The salsa was unusual. Made on site. The tomatoes and ingredients were smoked and grilled. Greenish in color, it was beyond delicious with a slight smoky flavor. Never had anything like it. Flavorful and not hot spicy. We also ordered Queso which was also delicious and just the right temperature and consistency. The soft corn tacos arrived. They seemed small although completely filled with pork, chicken, beef, cilantro, and veggies. Delicious. Great flavor. Every bite. The plates were beautiful and looked like they were handmade. Add a cold Mexican Larger in a mug and it was a perfect lunch. The service was excellent. Attentive but not intrusive. Polite. Mannered. We will be back to this local family owned restaurant for sure. I highly recommend this place. We are looking forward to trying "Happy Hour" with $3 margaritas served in beer mugs.

Mostly Hits *Magic Chicken was good - if you're a local, El Tucan served a slightly better/fresher version of this dish. Still very good and happy to know where to find it locally. *Birria Tacos were good. Less salty than some of the ones we've had on the island, but less flavorful than some too. Right down the middle. *Service makes both lists since we had 2 and they were polar opposites of one another for us on our last visit. Definite Misses *Salsa was meh. Asked for their spicy salsa next and it was also meh. Not horrible, just ok. Chips were firm and less salty than we like. *Margarita...was not a margarita. It was 90% sour mix and a maybe a splash of something. It wasn't on the menu. When asked, we got a weird non-committal response on it from the server and we pretty much got what we expected when a Mountain Dew looking drink arrived in a beer mug with a straw. Might've been a premixed margarita or one of those malt liquor ones (like the cheap Fireball ones). *Service was spotty. We'll probably go back at some point and try some friend recommendations when we do - fingers crossed. We weren't upset with anything we tried, but we weren't wowed either. Lots of local choices to consider....

I'm from New Mexico and know a few things about Mexican food. Walking into Taqueria is like…read morestepping into a vibrant Mexican street market, where the air is alive with the smoky scent of carne asada grilling over open flames and the warm, comforting aroma of freshly made tortillas. Each taco bursts with layers of flavor--the tender, marinated meats perfectly balanced by bright cilantro, sharp onions, and fiery, homemade salsas that dance on the tongue. That's it and all there should be except for a spritz of lime. The textures--from the crisp edges of slow-cooked carnitas to the juicy sweetness of al pastor--create a symphony of taste that feels both timeless and deeply rooted in tradition. Every bite tells a story of heritage, passion, and authenticity, making Taqueria a true celebration of Mexico's rich culinary soul. We'll be back soon.

Horchata to wash it all down. My drink arrived promptly and my meal came shortly after that. The tacos were good, not great but better than some in the area. The beans and rice lacked much in flavor but were not bad. The hotchata leaned a bit towards the sweet side. A good experience but since it is kinda far away from my usual stomping ground. I won't be back for some time.
