We ate lunch here after a year of driving by and seeing how busy it is. Today it was packed but we still only had a 5 minute wait. All the servers were helpful and very friendly. The food arrived hot and fast. Both of our plates were good. The restaurant and especially the restroom were very clean. We will be returning.

We were traveling to Tampa and found this place totally by accident. What a TREAT!!!!! Live music, full house, and amazingly authentic Mexican food!!!! We loved it and next time through this area we WILL be back!!!!!

This little place was pretty solid. Great al pastor, decent carne asada, friendly service. And when I asked for salsa verde I got the scalding hot, fresh out o' the pot first ladle full. They also had a honey and sesame seed cookie that was just awesome. A taste of south-of-the-border a good, long ways from the border.

On our way down to Ybor we were on the hut for a non fast food restaurant to try. With a strong love for tacos my husband found Taqueria My Ranchito right off the highway. The restaurant was clean and appeared authentic. The menu had authentic Mexican food and also included a small market. My husband and I had to try the tacos. I ordered chorizo and pork. He ordered the same plus steak. As we waited for our tacos out came complementary chips and salsa. The salsa lacked flavor. The chips needed more salt. I was starting to get nervous about our tacos. When our tacos came out they looked delicious and a good size. Our disappointment from the chips and salsa was quickly replaced once we both had our first bite. We scarfed down our five tacos and we were very pleased. The best part was for five tacos our bill was seven dollars and change!!! $7!! Can't beat that!

Much smaller and with a more limited menu than La Hacienda down the road, this restaurant nonetheless is very authentic and welcoming. It looks a bit worn-down inside and you can tell it's a family operation that has been around quite some time, but the staff are friendly and prompt and the food is very authentic. Indeed, you probably will see mostly if not totally Mexican-American families dining here. Their chips aren't as good as La Hacienda's but they do make a hot salsa that is great, especially to add into some dishes (as opposed to for dipping chips) and their enchiladas rojas are near-perfect, with a red sauce that is just sweet enough and balances out all the other flavors of the enchiladas. Their tacos pastor I found also to be very good--more of the street-vendor taco taste than any I've had in a sit-down restaurant. All that said, I probably will frequent La Hacienda more, mostly because of their awesome Mexican seafood dishes and broader variety in general plus their out-of-this-world salsas. Still, it's very nice to know there's another great Mexican restaurant less than a block down Highway 40 West.

I was travelling further south to Florida for spring break. The setting clear weather 1:30 p.m. I arrive looking for something to fulfill my bottomless pit. I ordered 5 steak tacos and 1 pastor sope, they were all phenomenal. I would start in general this is more than enough food for most, this held true for me as well. My fellow weary traveller ordered a torta. As she put it. "Mmmm". We were there at a low traffic time, but even still around 10 other parties of customers came through.

We went on a Wednesday, where the special was fajitas for $5.99 - such a good deal. My husband got the steak fajitas and I got the camerones a la diabla. The chips and salsa were so good. The chips were crunchy and thick. Good for dipping. I was disappointed that I didn't find any of the same chips in the supermarket attached to the restaurant. I'd come back for sure!

The chicken and al pastor were my favorites and super flavorful. The house made green and red salsas really take everything to the next level. Both are fresh and bold. I also tried my husbands burrito and it was huge and so good, with the perfect ratio of rice, beans, and meat in every bite. He said the best he's had in florida so far. Do not skip the horchata either. It was excellent and the perfect complement to the food. Seating is a bit limited right now, but they are expanding next door soon, which is great to hear. You can really tell how much love goes into this place. I love Casita Luna and will absolutely keep coming back.

This place is quite small/cramped. We placed our order then found a high table for two. We both like carnitas so I ordered the Carnitas Burrito and my wife tried their Carnitas Quesadillas. Our observations: 1. This place does NOT provide complimentary chips and salsa. What?!!! 2. Carnitas flavor was lacking in our opinion. We liked the seared tortillas but were underwhelmed by the flavor 3. Service was friendly and food came out fast enough 4. We didn't think the value was there. 5. Ample parking in front. All in all, our experience fell short of high expectations. We'll be sticking with La Hacienda. Lunch for 2 (just water to drink) came out to just under $35 with tip.

My #1 mexican restaurant in the Ocala area…read more As you know, and you can see, by the number of checkin's and reviews I write about mexican restaurants... that I have a thing for mexican food. It's probably because I have lived in California so long and also... I think I have an addiction to refried beans as well... (and black beans). When you workout, expend a lot of energy or have a long day of work.... refried beans are like a shot in the arm.... it gives you instant energy. Besides.... I on a no pasta, bread, pastries, dessert or sugary things diet...so that means... I focus on "how much protein I can obtain with just one meal". So Im a very protein focused person and I like to get my money's worth. La Catrina's sauces on things are spectacular. I love it! The food just tastes that much more interesting than it normally does. This is a feat and a half. It's difficult to make most mexican food interesting... we are all so used to it by now. Probably the only place you can go to get interesting and gourmet mexican food is Mexico City (so I've heard)......but out here in Ocala ??... this restaurant does a pretty good job. The service is great too
