My wife and I tried this place out for breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning. We've always liked their food but this is the first time (and perhaps last) we'll go there for breakfast. Upon entering we were told to seat ourselves so we sat in a booth. The server proceeded to talk to us in Spanish (neither of us looked Hispanic, BTW) so naturally we responded in English since neither of us spoke passable Spanish. The server spoke to us in English but not quite sure the language barrier was actually breached. The breakfast choices seemed a bit limited and when we asked if they served migas, thinking it might be in a "secret" menu, we were met with blank stares from our server. We placed our order, Huevos Rancheros for me and Mexican-style eggs plate for my wife. The server asked how we want our eggs and I told her I want my eggs over easy and my wife told her scrambled. When our meals were served, it became apparent that there was a communication breakdown. I was served over hard eggs! Who actually eats huevos rancheros with over hard eggs? When I informed our server I ordered my eggs over easy, she had to call somebody else over to communicate with me. I told this other lady I ordered over easy eggs and she said she'll have the eggs cooked and not make me a fresh plate. Fine. Those eggs took a while to materialize and the rest of my meal, as well as my wife's since she waited to eat her meal with me, was getting cold. All in all, a disappointing breakfast. Service was subpar and most of the servers just seemed like they couldn't be bothered. We'll probably still come back for our Mexican fix but will surely avoid this place for breakfast. Oh BTW, looks like migas is a Tex-Mex fare which we probably should've known moving here from Texas.
This is a great place for quick, authentic Mexican food. It's not fancy--it's inside next to a grocery store--but we've never had a bad meal here. The place is usually busy, yet our party of six was served quickly and everyone loved their food. Portions are generous, and we had plenty of leftovers.
Selected this restaurant when visiting Ocala due to Yelp reviews. We went for lunch and ordered the lunch specials. The food was delicious and a lot for being a lunch specials. Our Server was friendly. The restaurant was very clean.
I love this place so much that I've taken my parents both on different occasions. I tell everyone in Gainesville that wants authentic Mexican food about this place. Truly a gem. I always get the same thing and should probably venture out but it's just so good. I get the taco plate with al pastor which is the pork with pineapple and onion. It's sweet and smoky and just perfect for me. I always fill up on the chips and salsa because that salsa is so addicting! The red salsa has to be my fave I've had so far from any restaurant. Service is always quick too which is a bonus. And the servers are always attentive and willing to recommend items. Will be coming back every few months when my craving comes back up.
Moved from California and despaired of finding a decent Mexican restaurant, but a friend recommended La Hacienda & I love going there. I really like their tacos and their tamales are good too. I tried their fajitas with cheese dish (which I'd never seen), so tried it and for me it was a miss, but I was curious so tried it. The staff is super nice. Always busy with diners and takeout. Love their adjacent grocery store, be sure to check out the meat department tucked in the back and look for the fresh flour tortillas- AMAZING! They have a great bread & pastry selection. So stop in for a meal, then browse the grocery store. Parking looks difficult, but there's a huge parking lot in the back. Interior - decor is typical and the place has been in operation for a while, so things are rustic - a bit worn, but everything is clean.
Amazing food and really fair pricing. The portion sizes were generous and we loved the complimentary chips and salsa. Absolutely would recommend and return.
So we loved this place so much that we visited twice on our recent trip to Ocala. The first time here I had the shrimp tacos with beans and rice which were amazing and this time I got the Mega Burrito which comes wet with a avocado on top. Wow this was also an amazing meal. The wife got the Combo #1 with Chili Relleno and rice and beans. I truly wish they had a location closer to Tampa. Thanks for the truly amazing food.
Basura. These were supposed to be tacos de carne asada. The meat had no char, no seasoning, no soul -- looked like it was boiled and then forgotten. Tortilla was limp, toppings were thrown on like an afterthought. As someone who knows what a real carne asada taco tastes like, this was genuinely offensive. Would not recommend. Verguenza les debe de dar. Obviously they have never had a taco de carne asada.

Taco Tuesday 99cent tacos, crazy busy. Literally line out the door. We were traveling through, they said it was always busy for taco Tuesday. Limit 3 tacos. We tried the pollo, beef and pastor all the meat was a little dry, but well worth 99 cents. They did a great job turning the tables and cleaned them very well. Worth a stop if traveling through.
Very very good. Packed at lunch. Everything is freshly homemade. Highly recommend. It's close to the highway too if you are traveling down 75.

What's the deal about eggs ??? La Hacienda is a down to earth, unassuming and friendly place where truckers, traveling nurses, and all kinds of people come together over genuinely excellent, shamelessly affordable Mexican food. Starved .... I showed up at 11:15 AM craving Huevos Rancheros and found out they'd cut off breakfast at 11 AM. I get that restaurants have systems, but La Hacienda is in the perfect position to serve breakfast ALL day. Shift workers need breakfast all day. Truckers eat at weird times and also need breakfast all day. Nurses finishing graveyard shifts still need breakfast all day. The food quality and value here are genuinely unbeatable, which makes this so frustrating. So what's the deal with the arbitrary cutoff???? Why can't eggs be served all day? I've never understood this. read more

If you want a great Mexican meal, eat here. The boss got the fish tacos. The fish is covered with a lot of lettuce and onion. Then you bite into it and it's got a huge, delicious piece of fish hidden. The fish was seasoned to a perfect flavor. The fish was firm and tasty. A total hit. Then the carnitas enchiladas. I love pig. And I love this carnitas. When I took my first bite, I thought I was going to cry because it tasted so good. It's one of the best, if not the best, carnitas I've ever tasted. It was that good. Service was very good even though the restaurant was packed. Great Mexican Food. Come aquí, te encantará. read more

Visited from out of town and stopped here for dinner! I had steak tacos and my husband had chorizo and steak. We loved it! Modifications were great and the portions were amazing for what we paid. ($50 for two meals, horchata, jarritos, cheese dip and a tip). Food came out very fast as well, and everything tasted amazing and homemade!! read more
La Hacienda is my go to place with a casual ambiance whenever I'm in the Ocala area. Wonderful, authentic, flavorful Mexican food, with large portions and reasonable prices. You know it's authentic when all of the wait staff and 75% of the customers appear to be Mexican, and the restaurant is attached to a Mexican supermarket. Love it! read more

I know there will be naysayers, but for us La Hacienda on Hwy 40 is still just the best if you want flavorful, abundant Mexican food. We been to so many others locally, we always agree on this place. Tonight we had a mega wet burrito and the Hacienda Fajita with jalapeño (beef, chicken and shrimp). Seriously, not only are the flavors so distinct and well balanced, but they are savory and zesty when appropriate and always flavorable. Andrea took care of us from nearly the second we sat down - awesome service! And we almost always have stuff to bring home for nearly an entire second meal. read more

You want authentic Mexican? You got it. La Hacienda is a combination of a mercado and a Mexican restaurant. Typical of what I found in Mexico, so very authentic compared to so many of the Ameri-Mex places. I ordered to go and got a Mega Burrito with steak for dad and a beef Milenesa for myself. The burrito is huge. Easily enough for 2 meals. The milenesa was spot on. Thinly pounded, breaded, and fried. The beans were not overly salty, like most spots in the US and the rice is typical of central Mexico. The ambiance is a lot like a joint in Mexico. Active and loud. It was crowded when I ordered and my understanding is this is the norm. I did not experience table service, but will say the counter staff is easily distracted. I give some leeway, as the place was super crowded and there was a long line at the counter and people constantly calling in to go orders. As for the store, they have a lot of things you cannot find elsewhere. The prices, overall, were cheaper than other supermarkets and you can find cuts of beef not normally served in other supermarkets cheap. These are usually the tougher parts, so you do have to marinate. But they also usually have a nice flavor to them, so it is a bit of give and take. I grabbed some Mexican candy before taking off to Nashville and will share with some friends while I am up there. If you have never had tamarind with chili powder, you should give it a shot. read more

I was craving Mexican food and decided to try this for dinner. The inside has nice murals painted on the walls and ample seating at either booths or tables. The servers were friendly and attentive. The first night I started the meal with their queso. It was fantastic! I got their shrimp tacos with flour tortillas since it was the special of the day. I could only eat one of the two tacos before getting full. They were filled with shrimp and seasoned so nicely. And, I was impressed that the tortillas were homemade. They were so fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the meal so much, two days later I came back for dinner again. This time I got the combination #1. It had a chile relleno, a cheese enchilada and a flauta. I decided on barbacoa for the meat inside the flauta. I was so impressed again with the quality of the food and the tastes truly hitting the spot. Both times I came here the meals came with refried beans and Spanish rice. The rice is really fluffy and tasty. I cannot wait to come back to Ocala and eat here again. read more

The food quality here is very authentic top-notch. Not your regular chain type restaurant. The service is always abundant as they have many waitresses and servers on staff. The ambiance is super cool and authentic oftentimes having mariachi bands come in and play not to mention the cool. Supermarket they have attached to the restaurant. read more
Service was spot on. She was busy but kept us very happy. The decor is authentic to the setting. Simple traditional Mexican ambience. Now let's get to the real deal: THE FOOD! Massive plates. He got the steak chimichanga could barely finish half. I got the mixed steak, chicken, and shrimp fajitas. I have enough to feed me 2 more meals later on. The flavor was great and you CANNOT best these prices. All entrees (even at dinner) are about $8-17 Cerveza prices are stellar as well. My Modelo was less than five bucks. Mixed fajitas plate was $14. I drive through this area a lot while traveling. I will definitely stopping in. read more

The food is Amazing!! They start out with chips and two kinds of salsa. They are both great, but the green was my favorite. I had the fish soup as my main dish and it seemed expensive.....UNTIL THE BROUGHT IT!!! What a serving!!! Lots of fish! Love it! Can't wait to try everything. read more

Great Mexican food options. The aqua fresca flavors were also good! The people were extremely nice and the endless chips and dip were a good touch! The flautas were so good especially because they were made from corn tortillas instead of flour. It's also really authentic inside with live music on Monday nights. 10/10 recommend! read more
For a Mexican restaurant, it was as good as it gets. The foods were delicious and authentic, and the portions were huge! I got a large basket of complimentary chips and abundant of salsas (3 different types), a serving of mixed fajitas (shrimp, beef, chicken), and a large Horchata drink for just about $19 before tips. Almost everyone else had to ask for a box to bring the left-over home too! Quite generous portions! The taste was good too! On point Fajita, and tasted fresh. And the Salsa were also delicious! read more
