This is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant. The margaritas are out of this world. Like one sip and I'm already feeling it type of margaritas. Not sure if that's Yelp-appropriate but it's honest. They do not mess around!! Beyond the drinks, the food is incredible. I always go for the tacos, but truly cannot go wrong with anything!! You can really taste the authenticity in every bite and everything just feels made with care. This is the kind of place you crave after you leave. Stopped by Taqueria Moran on a Saturday evening while I was in Logan Square, and this place was packed. Every table inside was taken, which honestly is usually a good sign. I ended up grabbing a to-go order, and the process was super smooth they have a separate counter for takeout, so no awkward hovering or waiting around. My food was ready in about 10 minutes. I went with three tacos: al pastor, beef, and chicken. At around $4 a taco, it's a solid deal, especially since they throw in sauces for free (always appreciated). Had them as soon as I got home, and they were pretty much what you'd expect good, dependable, straightforward tacos. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely enjoyable. Overall, Taqueria Moran is a solid stop if you're in the area or working your way through Chicago taquerias. I'd happily come back and actually sit inside next time. read more

Had a stomach ache today and was craving soup! The reviews led me to this tortilla soup! I used Uber Eats and sadly my soup came without the chicken which I did add on, HOWEVER, I can say this is quite literally the BEST tortilla soup I have ever had in my entire life!!!??? the flavor is so crazy, amazing portion, the avocado was fresh as was the packaging. 10/10. No notes. Simply perfect. This is one of the rare finds of a true Mexican restaurant in Chicago. There are good ones in this area but the closer you get to downtown, the more rare they become. Inside is so colorful and decorated fun-ly. Their service is awesome- they're very attentive and sweet, always prioritizing the guest. Their nachos, carne asada tacos, and al pastor tacos are all incredible. Same with their chips and salsa (which are complimentary). The food was fresh, flavorful, and just dang frickin good. Got delivery this evening and it definitely was disappointing. I used to order from this restaurant very often. Today I got six carne asada tacos. Usually these tacos would be a nice size, but today they were very skimpy and half filled. I was also met with the requirement to choose between sour cream, cheese or avocado for an extra additional charge of $1 per taco, I chose the avocado. Upon receiving my meal I discovered I was only given 1/4 of a small avocado to go alongside my six tacos. If given the chance I would most definitely not order from this restaurant again because the price is not worth what you receive. read more

I was greeted and seated immediately served with chips and salsa. The waitress was nice. They have a big menu with lots of Mexican specialties. I got a mango margarita that was amazing. They're only served on the rocks, not frozen unfortunately. I came after eating at another restaurant so my appetite was small. The flavors were ok but the meat was a little dry or tough to me. These are among the best carnitas I've ever had, perfectly crispy and incredibly flavorful. The burrito was giant -- I couldn't even finish half (though I do tend to have a small appetite). The restaurant itself is delightful. It's brightly decorated and very cheerful, with background music at a good volume and colorful painted chairs and tables. After going there for years I can say I will STOP going there now. It's ok that they raised all their prices $2-3 per plate and now besides tax and tip you will be paying 3.5% for credit card use but the bad thing is they have decided to also cut food quality and quantity. I ordered Flautas. In every Mexican restaurant ( and I am Mexican) it Always comes with avocado and sour cream. I was given a plate with 3 flautas and no sour cream or avocado. It's part of the dish! When I asked they said they no longer give it snd wanted extra money but it's part of the dish! You already raised the price by $2.50 and still want $300 dollars more for something that is part of the dish in every Mexican restaurant in town. My friend order her usual Caldo de Pollo. She always does. She said it was watery and not many vegetables and a silver of corn replaced a robust piece of corn. It's was a sliver. I wish I had taken a picture of the lame looking dish. After talking to the manager or part owner as he called himself he could care less. No empathy no reasons no how can I help just didn't care. He looked like a kid maybe the owners son or grandson. So we don't care either. There are plenty of good Mexican restaurants. I liked it because it was close and the food was good. But the food is no longer good . Raising the prices is one thing. Great little Mexican restaurant across the street from the California blue train stop in Chicago. The restaurant I small but has a good vibe. They have Hispanic music playing in the background and you can sit and watch cars pass by. We got the taco dinner and an additional taco perfect amount for two. Cost about $20 total. I frequently visit this restaurant. It's easy to get to since it's right off the California blue line stop. The staff are always friendly even though it is always busy when I go. The dining area is small so prepare for a little bit of a wait if you go durinf their busy periods but they're quick to turn tables. My only gripe, and it's not even a bad thing, is the portions are unnecessarily large. Last night I ordered the quesabirria taco dinner (amazing, btw) and it came with an absurdly large portion that made it feel like every other place I've ordered from was ripping me off by skimping out. Ordered take out for lunch and the staff was kind to direct me to the cashier where a sweet older woman assisted me. I waited about 5 minutes for my order to be prepared and she asked if I wanted pickled veggies which was nice as some places don't. I ordered 3 tacos: al pastor, carnitas, and shrimp. The shrimp and al pastor was bomb. I usually can eat 3 tacos but couldn't finish because they were super filled. Although I also had a side of rice and beans so if I didn't have that I could have eaten all 3. The carnitas was a bit soggy/mushy and it was hard to differentiate the pieces of meat inside. So Cinco de Mayo snuck up on us this being our first week in Chicago. We wanted some tacos and that led us to Taqueria Moran, little over half a mile from our house and it was BUSY, which was understandable. The patio was full and a line was out the door so we knew we were at the right place. We decided to order our tacos to go and there was an entire different area for this which was great. Everyone that we came in contact with was nice & friendly. The young lady at the register was patient and super smiley which we loved. We ordered about 8 tacos but the Chile Relleno & Pinche tacos were stand outs. Full of meat and full of authentic flavors. YOU MUST try the Horchata... listen... Although this deal only applies to three diff types of tacos (pork, beef, chicken), I also gave the egg/chorizo one a try The magaritas are also very very delicious. On wednesdays they have a $9 taco + margarita deal which is insane because magaritas are usually $10...so will definitely be returning! Warning! Don't go to this restaurant if you don't want to be robed! This a regular urban restaurant "taqueria" and not a high quality Mexican restaurant. Besides the server she was kind, my family and I (3 people) felt robed. We ordered an aged Don Julio margarita pitcher and it was watery with tons of ice cubes, the server said the price is for $60 then they charged $65, not worth it. The food that we ordered did not reflected the prices between its quality, portions, taste, we lost $165, they served in plastic plates, then the place was too small and tight, at the end they charged $5.50 for using the credit card. I really wanted to love this small Mexican restaurant but it fell short for me. Maybe I went in with too high of expectations. We ordered guacamole, margaritas, a burrito, and bistec en salsa. The entrees were good- nothing fantastic but pretty much what you would expect. Our guacamole arrived to our table already brown despite the menu saying "freshly made". It lacked any sort of lime or salt flavoring but was instead mashed avocado with onions and tomato. We only picked at it and it was nearly black by the time we finished our meal about 30 min later. The margaritas were strong which is a plus. The flavor was very much a premade mix and not anything fresh. Overall I'd say the meal was fine but I won't be rushing to return here. A few other quick things to note: there's an additional charge if you pay with credit card. Usually I see discounts for paying with cash but this was an up charge to pay with card. Also, I found all of the salsas to be very spicy. That's good an authentic so I'd never deduct from a restaurant for it, but I'm a wimp when it comes to spice. Everything here is a hit. The pastor tacos are my personal favorite. The salsas are tasty and full of flavor. Great Mexican spot in Logan Square! It's pretty lowkey, but the food is tasty and prices reasonable. I got the 3 taco dinner, which came with a side of beans and rice. I got an Al pastor, pollo, and chorizo taco. The Al pastor and pollo were super tasty, flavorful, and moist so I'd definitely recommend these! I was a little disappointed by the chorizo taco since it was a little too salty. Definitely a solid spot for Mexican food! There's a lot of variety on the menu and prices are fair. read more

I am not sure what the rave reviews are about. Being Hispanic IMO this had no flavor. We had asada taco and pinche Torta. Neither was all that. The taco meat was soooo chewy my teeth started to hurt from trying to chew... think of it like that gum you've been chewing for hours and it's getting hard. The asada taco had no flavor. There was some flavor adding the salsa to it. For $4 IMO not worth it. The Torta was limited on the toppings other than the meat.. that meat was more chew friendly slightly flavor ... don't expect sour creme or beans on it if you're used to it. Would I go back? Nope. We've had better. Oh and be ready to pay over 3% for using a credit card... if you venture to try this place maybe take cash to save on the credit card fee.
