Nachos Estilo Mexicano
Mirella K.

10/10. No notes. Simply perfect. This is one of the rare finds of a true Mexican restaurant in Chicago. There are good ones in this area but the closer you get to downtown, the more rare they become. Inside is so colorful and decorated fun-ly. Their service is awesome- they're very attentive and sweet, always prioritizing the guest. Their nachos, carne asada tacos, and al pastor tacos are all incredible. Same with their chips and salsa (which are complimentary). The food was fresh, flavorful, and just dang frickin good. Their outdoor seating opens up when it gets warmer too. If you're looking for some good Mexican food, definitely come here!

Birria Ramen

Had a tasty time at Taqueria Moran! Their menu is copious and abounds what they have printed out as they offer a number of additional Birria options (and for a reason, their Birria is delicious). Also really enjoyed their chicken tacos. They have some great taco Tuesday and margarita deals as well, so keep an eye out for those! The one point of feedback I'd leave is that their menu is kind of confusing because there is so much stuff on it and some of it overlaps in other categories

This is our go-to spot for an al pastor burrito. The al pastor is so flavorful and the meat is tender. I was also really impressed with the quesabirria taco dinner: each taco was loaded with meat and cheese and the accompanying consommé was delicious! I was less impressed by the individual tacos themselves, so I would definitely go with a burrito or quesabirria. Service is fast and staff is friendly.

I was greeted and seated immediately served with chips and salsa. The waitress was nice. They have a big menu with lots of Mexican specialties. I got a mango margarita that was amazing. They're only served on the rocks, not frozen unfortunately. I came after eating at another restaurant so my appetite was small. The flavors were ok but the meat was a little dry or tough to me. I would like to try them again next time to see if there are any changes. Recommended. Limited street parking, conveniently located near train station.

Great little Mexican restaurant across the street from the California blue train stop in Chicago. The restaurant I small but has a good vibe. They have Hispanic music playing in the background and you can sit and watch cars pass by. We got the taco dinner and an additional taco perfect amount for two. Cost about $20 total. The service was quick when we sat down but didn't get checked in on much had to wait a while to ask for the check.

Enchiladas de Camaron, Enchiladas de Mole

I frequently visit this restaurant. It's easy to get to since it's right off the California blue line stop. The staff are always friendly even though it is always busy when I go. The dining area is small so prepare for a little bit of a wait if you go durinf their busy periods but they're quick to turn tables. I try to get something different every time I come and no matter what I try, it always has excellent flavor & is fresh!

A place unlike any other! Let me get into it! The food here was amazing! The quality and the freshness of all the ingredients was a game changer. I really did like the spicy level of the sauces. The service was great the waitress checked in often and asked us how we were doing which was refreshing. The atmosphere or ambiance like I call it, great decor. The colors and the seating really was like going to a welcoming home in ways. Overall, I will say give TM a shot if you want quality food!

Al Pastor, shrimp, and Carnitas

Ordered take out for lunch and the staff was kind to direct me to the cashier where a sweet older woman assisted me. I waited about 5 minutes for my order to be prepared and she asked if I wanted pickled veggies which was nice as some places don't. I ordered 3 tacos: al pastor, carnitas, and shrimp. The shrimp and al pastor was bomb. I usually can eat 3 tacos but couldn't finish because they were super filled. Although I also had a side of rice and beans so if I didn't have that I could have eaten all 3. The carnitas was a bit soggy/mushy and it was hard to differentiate the pieces of meat inside. The rice and beans were standard and fine, nothing out of this world. Overall would definitely return for some more tacos! Note: green sauce is not spicy at all whereas red sauce is spicy.

The aguachiles were easily our favorite -- super fresh and full of flavor, with really well-balanced ingredients. You can tell the food is made to order and not rushed. The chips and salsa were also way better than your typical starter. The chips came out warm and crisp, and the salsa was smooth, flavorful, and super addictive. We also tried a few drinks, and they were excellent -- well-made, not overly sweet, and a great way to start the night before heading to the game. Our server was amazing -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They kept checking in at all the right times and made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable even with the pre-game crowd. Definitely a great spot to hit anytime you're in the area looking for solid Mexican food and a fun vibe.

Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. We kept looking at each other after every bite like "okay wait... THIS is the best thing here" and then another plate would arrive and prove us wrong again The carnitas fried rice??? I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better. One of those dinners where you leave already talking about when you're coming back If you're looking for the place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, date night, tacos & margaritas, or honestly just an incredible dinner in general... this is IT

We did make reservations/wait list and was seated immediately. We started off with chips and salsa, and the salsa was a bit too spicy for me, but everyone else enjoyed it. We started with the Chicken Poblano - a savory dish with creamy poblano sauce mixed with chicken and sliced poblano peppers topped with corn. We all enjoyed it. Most of the reviews recommended the enchiladas and we ordered a variety of them. The Enchiladas Poblanos stuffed with chicken and cheese. The poblano sauce was rich and smoky. We also had the Enchiladas Morita. They were filled with shrimp and cheese. It was so flavorful and the morita chile added so much flavor. Each dish was served with a side jicama salad. Their special was a shrimp pasta with lobster. It came with full lobster tail. The sauce was creamy and flavorful. It is also BYOB, which is a nice option. Delicious food, friendly waiter, militant hostess…read more We came to dinner before a standup performance downtown (Mateo Lane was hilarious, by the way). I arrived at the restaurant on time (4:30) and checked in with the hostess, who said I could only be seated when the entire group of three arrived. This seemed weird given the restaurant was pretty empty at this time, and ordinarily I'd order a drink while waiting at the table. Regardless, I went to Starbucks instead because I knew the other two were a few minutes behind. When I got back to the restaurant, my friend said the hostess told him we absolutely had to leave within 1.5 hours because we were late... which seemed odd because he may have checked in 15 minutes after our reservation, to an empty restaurant, that already refused to seat me on time. Regardless, the food was delicious. I had the Pollo in ChiChilo-- the mole was delicious, and I loved the chicken and sweet potato. I ordered the mole on the side, which seemed like a nice balance. Since the hostess wouldn't previously seat me, I had a lovely iced matcha latte with oat milk and half a pump of vanilla from Starbucks, which was a nice pairing. The waiter did ask if I wanted a shot of something with it, which seemed odd. Ambiance was cute, probably due for a renovation but seemed appropriate for most dining out occasions- dates, families, a day out in town. Note: the restaurant charges an automatic 20% gratuity which may explain the service. Keep this in mind to avoid tipping more than you intend. Overall, I would definitely come back, and the food and wait staff made up for the abrasive welcome.
