One of my favorite spots in the city to get tacos and it's always a great atmosphere inside. The staff is very nice and friendly. They have Taco Tuesdays and Margarita specials on Mondays & Thursdays so I recommend going on one of those days! read more

What a nice little surprise to find this place right off the Blue Line and just down the apartment from where we were staying. Had dinner there on our last night in town and really liked it. I ordered just a taco al pastor a la cart and my younger daughter got the taco plate w/carne asada, rice and beans. Took a bit of time to get the food, but it was pretty busy. When it came out, i was horrified to find pinto beans piled on my plate w/the taco i ordered!! I just hate beans. I guess the cook thought my lonely taco needed something to accompany it?? I couldn't get my taco off that plate fast enough, then had to use a napkin to remove the bean juice. I wasn't pleased, but my daughter reminded me that most people would've loved having the beans there on the side. Anyhow, on to the food itself. The al pastor had a good amount of flavor and i was very satisfied w/my taco once i was able to get to it. My daughter loved her carne asada tacos and said the rice and refried beans were good as well. Nice find. read more

Definitely going to have to give this place another try, maybe dining in. For a place that was packed dining in and had people waiting for take out, my meal was mid. Asada tacos are a staple and mine came out bland and sad. Salsa mid. Beans tasted slightly burned. The thing that carried it and is bringing me back is the Al Pastor. Very, very flavorful slightly salty but it worked! Drinking a cold Coquita or Horchata tied it together. I'll try this place out during the day time and at a seat. read more

Stopped by Taqueria Moran on a Saturday evening while I was in Logan Square, and this place was packed. Every table inside was taken, which honestly is usually a good sign. I ended up grabbing a to-go order, and the process was super smooth they have a separate counter for takeout, so no awkward hovering or waiting around. My food was ready in about 10 minutes. I went with three tacos: al pastor, beef, and chicken. At around $4 a taco, it's a solid deal, especially since they throw in sauces for free (always appreciated). Had them as soon as I got home, and they were pretty much what you'd expect good, dependable, straightforward tacos. Nothing mind-blowing, but definitely enjoyable. Overall, Taqueria Moran is a solid stop if you're in the area or working your way through Chicago taquerias. I'd happily come back and actually sit inside next time. read more

Had a stomach ache today and was craving soup! The reviews led me to this tortilla soup! I used Uber Eats and sadly my soup came without the chicken which I did add on, HOWEVER, I can say this is quite literally the BEST tortilla soup I have ever had in my entire life!!!??? the flavor is so crazy, amazing portion, the avocado was fresh as was the packaging. And it came piping hot!!! I won't go anywhere else for soup now! I need to go in person to have the soup there because I am blown away read more

10/10. No notes. Simply perfect. This is one of the rare finds of a true Mexican restaurant in Chicago. There are good ones in this area but the closer you get to downtown, the more rare they become. Inside is so colorful and decorated fun-ly. Their service is awesome- they're very attentive and sweet, always prioritizing the guest. Their nachos, carne asada tacos, and al pastor tacos are all incredible. Same with their chips and salsa (which are complimentary). The food was fresh, flavorful, and just dang frickin good. Their outdoor seating opens up when it gets warmer too. If you're looking for some good Mexican food, definitely come here! read more

This is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant. The margaritas are out of this world. Like one sip and I'm already feeling it type of margaritas. Not sure if that's Yelp-appropriate but it's honest. They do not mess around!! Beyond the drinks, the food is incredible. I always go for the tacos, but truly cannot go wrong with anything!! You can really taste the authenticity in every bite and everything just feels made with care. This is the kind of place you crave after you leave. I honestly want to gatekeep it, even though it's always busy and clearly already loved!! One thing to note, bring cash because cards have a fee. If you love strong margaritas, amazing tacos, and a place that feels truly legit, this one is it!!! read more

Had a tasty time at Taqueria Moran! Their menu is copious and abounds what they have printed out as they offer a number of additional Birria options (and for a reason, their Birria is delicious). Also really enjoyed their chicken tacos. They have some great taco Tuesday and margarita deals as well, so keep an eye out for those! The one point of feedback I'd leave is that their menu is kind of confusing because there is so much stuff on it and some of it overlaps in other categories read more

This is our go-to spot for an al pastor burrito. The al pastor is so flavorful and the meat is tender. I was also really impressed with the quesabirria taco dinner: each taco was loaded with meat and cheese and the accompanying consommé was delicious! I was less impressed by the individual tacos themselves, so I would definitely go with a burrito or quesabirria. Service is fast and staff is friendly. read more

I was greeted and seated immediately served with chips and salsa. The waitress was nice. They have a big menu with lots of Mexican specialties. I got a mango margarita that was amazing. They're only served on the rocks, not frozen unfortunately. I came after eating at another restaurant so my appetite was small. The flavors were ok but the meat was a little dry or tough to me. I would like to try them again next time to see if there are any changes. Recommended. Limited street parking, conveniently located near train station. read more

Great little Mexican restaurant across the street from the California blue train stop in Chicago. The restaurant I small but has a good vibe. They have Hispanic music playing in the background and you can sit and watch cars pass by. We got the taco dinner and an additional taco perfect amount for two. Cost about $20 total. The service was quick when we sat down but didn't get checked in on much had to wait a while to ask for the check. read more

These are among the best carnitas I've ever had, perfectly crispy and incredibly flavorful. The burrito was giant -- I couldn't even finish half (though I do tend to have a small appetite). The restaurant itself is delightful. It's brightly decorated and very cheerful, with background music at a good volume and colorful painted chairs and tables. Our server was polite and efficient, and the food came very quickly. I would happily return. read more

A good Mexican restaurant. The food is fresh and the wait staff is very attentive although there can be a small language problem here and there. Drinks are strong! It's below the blue line and can be noisy but not so much that you can't hear each other talk. read more

A place unlike any other! Let me get into it! The food here was amazing! The quality and the freshness of all the ingredients was a game changer. I really did like the spicy level of the sauces. The service was great the waitress checked in often and asked us how we were doing which was refreshing. The atmosphere or ambiance like I call it, great decor. The colors and the seating really was like going to a welcoming home in ways. Overall, I will say give TM a shot if you want quality food! read more

Ordered take out for lunch and the staff was kind to direct me to the cashier where a sweet older woman assisted me. I waited about 5 minutes for my order to be prepared and she asked if I wanted pickled veggies which was nice as some places don't. I ordered 3 tacos: al pastor, carnitas, and shrimp. The shrimp and al pastor was bomb. I usually can eat 3 tacos but couldn't finish because they were super filled. Although I also had a side of rice and beans so if I didn't have that I could have eaten all 3. The carnitas was a bit soggy/mushy and it was hard to differentiate the pieces of meat inside. The rice and beans were standard and fine, nothing out of this world. Overall would definitely return for some more tacos! Note: green sauce is not spicy at all whereas red sauce is spicy. read more

I frequently visit this restaurant. It's easy to get to since it's right off the California blue line stop. The staff are always friendly even though it is always busy when I go. The dining area is small so prepare for a little bit of a wait if you go durinf their busy periods but they're quick to turn tables. Been to this place several times over the years and have never been disappointed. The food is crazy fast and the service is always quick and efficient. My only gripe, and it's not even a bad thing, is the portions are unnecessarily large. Last night I ordered the quesabirria taco dinner (amazing, btw) and it came with an absurdly large portion that made it feel like every other place I've ordered from was ripping me off by skimping out. Now I have a new standard of expectations that no other place will be able to meet. I honestly don't know how this place makes money when they're just giving so much product away. read more

I've been a loyal customer here for many years, always appreciating the friendly staff and consistently great food. Unfortunately, my recent experience left me deeply disappointed. When I called about missing items in my order, the response I received was dismissive -- essentially telling me "too bad." I then contacted DoorDash for a redelivery, but again, items were missing. It felt like a game rather than genuine service. What makes this especially upsetting is that I was trying to provide a meal for my 80-year-old parents, and instead it turned into a frustrating ordeal. After years of enjoying this establishment, I can no longer support it. I won't be returning, and I'll be sharing this experience with friends so they're aware. It's sad to see a place I once trusted show such disregard for loyal customers. read more

Got delivery this evening and it definitely was disappointing. I used to order from this restaurant very often. Today I got six carne asada tacos. Usually these tacos would be a nice size, but today they were very skimpy and half filled. I was also met with the requirement to choose between sour cream, cheese or avocado for an extra additional charge of $1 per taco, I chose the avocado. Upon receiving my meal I discovered I was only given 1/4 of a small avocado to go alongside my six tacos. If given the chance I would most definitely not order from this restaurant again because the price is not worth what you receive. read more

Used to be a regular customer until we received three plates and each had hair. We assumed it was just a bad day and we brought it to the waitress' attention. Her whole demeanor changed and she only replaced one of the three plates. Fellow vegetarians - FYI the beans have lard and cannot be made vegetarian. Despite the list of 'veggie options', the beans are not in fact vegetarian. That leaves you with cactus (which I personally do not enjoy) and the quesadillas. Wish there was a disclaimer. That being said, if you aren't a vegetarian, feel free to enjoy the menu. My husband said he enjoyed his chicken burrito. read more

THEY REALLY SNAPPED. This is one of the few times that I've enjoyed both really good Mexican food AND quality margaritas that doesn't cost a million dollars. The servers were attentive and kind! And everything was on point. They brought out three different salsas and chips. There was a light green salsa and it was really spicy, but so flavorful. Naturally, I continue to eat it. And guess what? They kept the chips coming! I had steak tacos and my friends had the Birria and they were quickly inhaled. We also had a side of guac and it was extremely flavorful. Lastly, the margaritas did what they needed to do! Honestly, eating here reminded me to get back to more hole in the wall, down to earth, places. This was such a gem. read more

After going there for years I can say I will STOP going there now. It's ok that they raised all their prices $2-3 per plate and now besides tax and tip you will be paying 3.5% for credit card use but the bad thing is they have decided to also cut food quality and quantity. I ordered Flautas. In every Mexican restaurant ( and I am Mexican) it Always comes with avocado and sour cream. I was given a plate with 3 flautas and no sour cream or avocado. It's part of the dish! When I asked they said they no longer give it snd wanted extra money but it's part of the dish! You already raised the price by $2.50 and still want $300 dollars more for something that is part of the dish in every Mexican restaurant in town. My friend order her usual Caldo de Pollo. She always does. She said it was watery and not many vegetables and a silver of corn replaced a robust piece of corn. It's was a sliver. I wish I had taken a picture of the lame looking dish. After talking to the manager or part owner as he called himself he could care less. No empathy no reasons no how can I help just didn't care. He looked like a kid maybe the owners son or grandson. So we don't care either. There are plenty of good Mexican restaurants. I liked it because it was close and the food was good. But the food is no longer good . Raising the prices is one thing. I'm happy to support small business but downgrading the food is another. Goodbye Moran!! read more

So Cinco de Mayo snuck up on us this being our first week in Chicago. We wanted some tacos and that led us to Taqueria Moran, little over half a mile from our house and it was BUSY, which was understandable. The patio was full and a line was out the door so we knew we were at the right place. We decided to order our tacos to go and there was an entire different area for this which was great. Everyone that we came in contact with was nice & friendly. The young lady at the register was patient and super smiley which we loved. We ordered about 8 tacos but the Chile Relleno & Pinche tacos were stand outs. Full of meat and full of authentic flavors. YOU MUST try the Horchata... listen... I'm a HORCHATA fan and honestly this was some of the tastiest horchata I've ever had. I will be back for the LARGE cup, BIG. Oh and the margaritas were decent too. read more

Super disappointed- called in because there's no option for a Gordita de rajas con queso and they told me they make them to order in person but not available via Uber Eats. On wednesdays they have a $9 taco + margarita deal which is insane because magaritas are usually $10...so will definitely be returning! I really wanted to love this small Mexican restaurant but it fell short for me. Maybe I went in with too high of expectations. We ordered guacamole, margaritas, a burrito, and bistec en salsa. The entrees were good- nothing fantastic but pretty much what you would expect. Our guacamole arrived to our table already brown despite the menu saying "freshly made". It lacked any sort of lime or salt flavoring but was instead mashed avocado with onions and tomato. We only picked at it and it was nearly black by the time we finished our meal about 30 min later. The margaritas were strong which is a plus. The flavor was very much a premade mix and not anything fresh. Overall I'd say the meal was fine but I won't be rushing to return here. A few other quick things to note: there's an additional charge if you pay with credit card. Usually I see discounts for paying with cash but this was an up charge to pay with card. Also, I found all of the salsas to be very spicy. That's good an authentic so I'd never deduct from a restaurant for it, but I'm a wimp when it comes to spice. The person I was with loved the salsas so take that for what you will. read more

Came here with a friend and immediately when you step in through the doors, the smell of delicious tacos surround your nose. Warning! Don't go to this restaurant if you don't want to be robed! This a regular urban restaurant "taqueria" and not a high quality Mexican restaurant. Besides the server she was kind, my family and I (3 people) felt robed. We ordered an aged Don Julio margarita pitcher and it was watery with tons of ice cubes, the server said the price is for $60 then they charged $65, not worth it. The food that we ordered did not reflected the prices between its quality, portions, taste, we lost $165, they served in plastic plates, then the place was too small and tight, at the end they charged $5.50 for using the credit card. We did not recommend this place at all! read more

Great Mexican spot in Logan Square! It's pretty lowkey, but the food is tasty and prices reasonable. I got the 3 taco dinner, which came with a side of beans and rice. I got an Al pastor, pollo, and chorizo taco. The Al pastor and pollo were super tasty, flavorful, and moist so I'd definitely recommend these! I was a little disappointed by the chorizo taco since it was a little too salty. Definitely a solid spot for Mexican food! There's a lot of variety on the menu and prices are fair. read more

Taqueria Moran has been a staple in my family for the past 10 years of my life. My father has been eating their delicious food long before my time and I'm glad he introduced me early on in my life. Everything here is a hit. The pastor tacos are my personal favorite. The salsas are tasty and full of flavor. The chilaquiles con pollo y huevos are my all time favorite I've ever had....across many countries (I'd prefer this over my grandma's but please don't tell her) We'll be back more times than I can keep track of.
