My boyfriend tried their Hurache Taco Burrito and said while it tasted good, it would have been better in an actual wrap (it was on a thicker bread flat, like an open sandwich). Going to dinner at Urban Vegan, we noticed this place next door that has tacos and made a note to come back later. It was a few days later we got back here to check it out. Disco Taco is a Mexican restaurant of course. Kind of a tiny place with only a few tables inside. This feels like a taco truck that's actually a restaurant. Best to come here at lunch. It's a little less busy at this time, and gets busier later on. This is important, because if you want to eat inside, there's limited space. Has only a few tables, so most people order carryout. We ate in to get the full experience, and a benefit is dining in gets you complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. Has a nice cozy feel like a bodega. It sadly doesn't have alcohol, so no margaritas. Has Mexican pop, including Jarritos. Tacos are about $3 each, which is a pretty okay price. We got some of the Vegetarian Tacos. Good stuff, full of flavor. We also order French fries listed under the "starters" but 3-4 people can easy share and be satisfied. Place is small, decorated with bright colors and the ambiance is festive with traditional Mexican music. They have hortacha and Jaritos sodas, as well as bottles water and the other usual drinks, sprite, coke, and bottled coke. No dessert is listed on menu. Yummmmm! Happy to have tried Disco Taco. I swung by for lunch last week and we were so impressed with our food. The outside and interior space are rather unassuming, but don't let that stop you from visiting Disco Taco! The women working the register was kind and patient with me as I looked through the menu and decided what to order. I went with carne asada and pollo tacos for myself and a burrito for my husband. It only took about 5-10 minutes for my food to be prepared, and it was made to order which was nice to see. I ordered to-go, and the food was packaged really nicely and was even complete with red and green salsa. The food was still hot and fresh by the time we made it home. The tacos were topped with cilantro and onion and were really fresh. My favorite was the carne asada. So flavorful!! And the salsa took it to the next level. Only thing I'll say is that they are definitely on the small side. My husband LOVED his burrito and it was a really decent size and stuffed with all the typical fixings; rice beans, chicken, lettuce, sour cream, and cheese. There are many taquerias in the area that I won't return to visit. So I was skeptical to order from Disco Taco but Yelp reviews made my decision to order to go for dinner today. The steak and chicken were both seasoned well, had a nice char. While the fish filet was plump and fit the size of a folded taco, it was a smudge drier than I'd like and need a little more seasoning. I like onions and cilantro, so as far as their toppings they did not overpower the taco too much. The burrito was a good size as a hand held item. They don't made it too round and fat as some other places. It was stayed intact with each bite, which was helpful. Prices are high for the tacos but I can understand the meat prices these days. I thought the burritos are priced fairly, which is great. Disco taco lives up to their name as the music was really catchy and we were bopping to some good music while waiting for our order. I realize this is a cliche, but I legitimately would give zero stars if I could. I have never had such a horrible experience. We live across the street, but given the pandemic, we can't place orders in person, so we placed an order via their website. When my husband went to pick the food up, they said they didn't receive the order. He showed them the email, and they then took down the order and said they would start making it. Well over half an hour later, the order still wasn't ready. My husband went up to the counter again, and they admitted they had somehow forgotten/never started the order?! They took down my husband's number and said they would start cooking it right away and call him "first priority" as soon as it was ready. Another half hour+ passes, and my husband returns to the restaurant to find that they were out of 2 of the 3 items we ordered, but never bothered to call to ensure we were okay with substitutions. Instead, they just NEVER MADE OUR FOOD! Again! As a healthcare worker coming off a 24 hour shift, an ordered meal was what I had to look forward to. After 2 hours, our food was still never received. I've tried this place multiple times and I've had burritos and tacos from here. I can say this is an ok spot for convenient and quick Mexican food. But I have to be honest and say that I've had much better tacos and burritos for the same price and cheaper around the city. My go-to is usually steak or pork for my meat choices. The steak is ok, but the pork has more flavor. However, the pork is so greasy. My burrito is usually dripping oil out of its bottom before I'm even a fourth of the way done. Top that with an obscene amount of sour cream and cheese and, well, I feel a little dirty by the time I finish it. Usually I don't want to finish the entire tortilla because it's just too greasy. I order from here because it's very convenient and prices aren't too bad. I think there could be something great here with some minor tweaks. I was originally not so sure when I walked in since there were no people at the beginning of the dinner rush, but this place's food was actually pretty good. For about 11$ spent I got the Disco Taco dinner (3 medium tacos, rice and refried beans). While it did take a slight while (10-15 minutes) I was able to see the chefs make it all in front of me, so it was definitely fresh. The rice and refried beans were okay, but both slightly underseasoned. The lengua and al pastor were fantastically tender and well-seasoned, but the chorizo was a little too sour and salty in my opinion-- which ultimately matched well to eat with the blander rice and beans. The cilantro and onions were super fresh and overall, a really hearty, simple meal from a local taco place. I'm surprised more people don't come here. read more

I live very close by and I love hole-in-the-wall taquerias, so I would really like to support this place, but the quality of the food is unacceptably low. I've tried a few times hoping they will improve, but they haven't. The meat tastes so off, I seriously question where it comes from or what they're doing to it. As others have noted, the portions are generous, large tacos with lots of meat, but they're obviously cutting corners on quality so they can afford to give you more quantity. It's a shame more reviews haven't rolled in since this place opened. The food is spot on. I live in the neighborhood, and I have tried just about every taqueria in the north center/Ravenswood area. There is a ton of taquerias in the areas, and I would venture to say this is one of the best. The service is fast, the tacos and burritos are stuffed, and the flavors are second to none.
