Nachos served with no cheese? Ahhhh do what?? No thank you! Mom and I had promised Harvey a chimichanga for dinner and found ourselves at el Pollo. I grew up in Springfield so seeing a Mexican restaurant in the old Mr Egg Roll building made me chuckle! We went in and there were no customers inside but there was someone in the drive thru. We ordered Harvey's chimichanga which actually came with two, one beef and one chicken as well as beans, rice, and the little pile of lettuce, tomatoes and a dollop of sour cream. He said it was good and his was covered in cheese sauce like they should be! Mom and I decided to get the fajita nachos with steak. We got back to the hospital and opened the box up and there was the steak, and lettuce, and tomatoes, and sour cream, and peppers, and onions, and chips with no cheese! They were floppy and soggy and yuck. We closed the box up and took it home. We took all the steak, peppers, and onions off and threw the cheeseless "nacho chips" away. With fresh tortilla chips from the store, some queso and shredded cheese, yes lots of cheese, I was able to make a nice plate of nachos. Twice now and we still have steak, peppers and onions leftover for more. My advise to give: if you ordered "nachos" specify you want the cheese!

This building looks like nothing else in the area, it is wild!

Five stars for fast service, great quality, and an insanely reasonable price. There is a lot of fast food and business-casual dining in this part of town. I was visiting a family member at a hospital and didn't want another fast food burger or an elaborate sit down meal. I found this place on Google Maps and rolled the dice. Two chimichangas, rice, beans, chips, salsa, salad, and a drink were $11! The dude behind the counter was patient with my questions, which meant a lot. Oh, and the fast service meant I could rush back to the hospital to spend time with my family, not waste time waiting on food. I'm definitely going back soon!

Let me start off by noting this is basically a brand new spot to eat - post Covid reopening in Springfield. The service was outstanding but the food was average. We had a party of three; I was the only one who enjoyed my meal and would return. The tacos were good but not great, the tamale was average at best, but the chori-fries were really good. I really just think they need a bit more time open and have business pick up a bit! I would easily do the drive thru for the street tacos during lunch but I cannot say it would be my first choice to dine in at this point in time.

These tamales! The best! I have eaten many homemade tamales in Chicago and Cicero. Tamales friends' grandmothers make and sometimes sell in the streets of Little Village. That's what these tamales taste like. They taste like they were made with care. These people care about their restaurant and the food they make for their customers. This isn't the fanciest restaurant in town but it is one of the best.

Awesome New Mexican joint. Prices are low and quality is high. Fajita was the best I've had around here in years! Tacos were great too!! Will be back ASAP

Great tacos! I had grilled chicken, pulled chicken, and shrimp, all Mexican style (cilantro and onions). The corn tortillas are fresh and thick. I got chips and two salsas, the orange colored one is hotter and my favorite. I would go back and get the same thing.

This place is super amazing AND they make their own tortillas. One of the best Mexican spots in town.

Authentic Mexican Flavors with a Beautiful Presentation!…read more This place serves some of the best Mexican food I've had in a while! I ordered the green enchiladas, and they were absolutely delicious--perfectly rolled tortillas filled with flavorful meat, smothered in a rich green sauce, and drizzled with crema and queso fresco. The refried beans were smooth and creamy, and the rice was fluffy with a great seasoning. The burrito was a showstopper! Stuffed with tender steak and grilled veggies, then topped with a creamy, slightly spicy sauce and fresh pico de gallo. The drizzle of crema and queso fresco gave it an extra layer of indulgence. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the portion size was very generous! Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you're craving authentic Mexican food with bold flavors and beautiful plating, this spot is a must-visit. I'll definitely be back! Would highly recommend!

I thought the chicken was stringy and tough but I agreed with her about the beef and the tortillas themselves were great. Neither of us liked the chips and salsa...the chips were dry and the "salsa" tasted like tomato sauce that had a little hot sauce added to it. The atmosphere was tired and, on a day when it was 100-plus outside either the air conditioning couldn't keep up or, worse, hadn't been turned on at all.
