She then asked what the name was for yhe order and i replied with my name "michaela" she then said " this says Michael" i took the bag from her and shwed her the receipt saying michaela. read more

Dennis and Melana were amazing! I had a big order at 9:50pm at night and closing time was 10:00pm. Both were extremely friendly and had exceptional customer service skills. My order was correct, hot, and tasted great. After a long day, my family just wanted something that was tasteful and fast. Way to set the bar high you two!!! Friendly staff and fast service. Overall the nachos tasted like grease (meat, chips and cheese) with a hint of tomato hot sauce. The meat taste and texture was better than what you would get at say Taco Bell...and would probably be good in chili. I may return and try something different. read more

I placed an order asking for a specific topping to be left off (do to digestion issue) and verified it at the drive up again before leaving. Due to it being a bit messy and my order being verified at the drive up, I drove away. Shame on me! This is now the 3rd and final time it happened. My fiancé and I had to get a take out order (not my usual preference), but we were babysitting that night so I grabbed the food and brought it back to eat. A tad greasier than I prefer for my one taco and one sancho (both beef) but portion size was more than enough. She had the chalupa which was 3x larger than she expected or could eat, but overall the food was good. While I was waiting inside, I did notice the staff seemed bothered by people coming in to order, definitely not the friendliest staff but I have had worse. I think as a staple of the area it is worth trying but not in my top five list by any means! read more

Stopped the the Clocktower location, and got my bride a taco salad. Stale taco chips, and soggy lettuce, plus it was just thrown together. I did notice that the prices have gone up yet again. Think twice before going to Taco Gringo on Clocktower in Springfield; NO MASKS WORN BY EMPLOYEES. I always put my mask on when approaching the drive-up window, and did so during this visit, too. I asked the woman if she was supposed to be wearing a mask and she replied, "Yes, but I took it off because it was too hot." I explained I wear a mask ALL day at work so I get it, but we still have to to keep everyone safe. She said, "Sorry" and walked away from the window out of view. Food prep employees should always be wearing masks. Period. read more

This restaurant has very disrespectful management. I ordered a taco salad and they frequently make mistakes on my order, I called the store to tell them of a mistake and a manager took the phone and said "We're done replacing your messed up orders, we have two other locations, go to another location!" then they proceeded to hang up on me. I just wanted to return it and be done with it. They are very unprofessional and snapped at me for telling them they made a mistake. With management like this I wouldn't really recommend any of their establishments either. read more

It's always good food, not many restaurants have waffle fries. They are really good with a cup of cheese sauce. They also have hot dogs, bbq pork sandwich & wings to name a few things besides Mexican food. Love the ice in the drinks!!! read more

I have been eating here since I was a child and have never been disappointed. Food is always great and worth the price. I was always a taco, Sancho, nacho type of guy but was introduced to a taco burger and it was well worth it. Taco Salads are always great. Sundays they have $0.79 beef hard shell tacos and $1.59 medium sodas. We go almost every Sunday. Friendly staff leaves nothing to be desired. On a side note we went in with a friend who has multiple allergies and the staff (not the manager, the cashier) took the time to go back and look up what was in the seasoning to make sure she could eat it. It was over what we expected when he came back with a label and asked us to double check but he thought it was fine. read more

Taco Gringo lost a regular customer tonight. After a long wait in the drive thru, I drove home to find that my dinner was not in the bag. I drove back, presented my receipt, and found my order sitting on a counter. I told them I wanted to be compensated for my inconvenience. I said my dinner order (chalupa Jr) should be free. The store Mgr refused, and said only owner could approve this. We ordered dinner from this restaurant almost every week for years, and this is how they treated me. I will not return, and recommend others choose one of the other fast food Mexican restaurants in the area. The food at Chipotle, Qdoba, Taco Bell is better quality, and the service is better. read more

The Taco Gringo in Jacksonville (near Springfield) is a restaurant I grew up loving, even though it has a few drawbacks (see my exemplary review. No. Honestly, read it). I have stopped at this alternate dimension Taco Gringo on Clocktower Driver twice while passing through Springfield.* It might be my obvious (read:OBVIOUS) bias towards the Jville location, but I just haven't been as impressed with the tacos and sanchos I have purchased here. The sanchos especially. They are noticeably smaller! The only good thing about sanchos in the first place is that they are a huge soft taco. That's it. When they are smaller they are far less enticing. However, it IS still Taco Gringo--this is about the best cheap Mexican food you can buy in Central Illinois. *It is important to note that I have gone through the drive-thru every time I have eaten at this location. Eating inside might be amazing. Heck, there might be opulent couches, bottle service, and fountains that spew money and the vivid dreams of majectic orcas. I'd like that. If I were a betting man (which I'm betting I'm not), it is more likely that there are plastic orange benches and tacky Spanish decor. read more

Long time Springfield gem! Fun food for good prices. Always courteous staff and clean facility. You feel like you're chatting with a friend at the drive through. Favorites are the Super Nacho, Super Sancho, Sancho Deluxe and Raspberry Chimmi dessert. Great hours starting at 10:30am to 10:30pm most days so always great for early lunch or even a late supper. read more

I agree with the other reviewers; it's fast, it's not authentic Mexican, it's tasty, and sometimes you just have a jonesing for it. All the food is fairly greasy, the ingredients are pretty low-budget, and yes, the nachos stick to the styrofoam trays. But it's super-cheap and it tastes just like every non-Mexican family's taco night; isn't that enough? I have to disagree about the chicken, though. I'm sure a lot of things come out of a can at Taco Gringo, but the chicken quesadillas are very tasty nonetheless. And even though the guacamole stays green for a suspiciously long amount of time, it tastes pretty good. Long live the super sancho! read more

It is a Gringo (White guy) version of mexican food. It is however the best gringo mexican in town! So I do give the gringo a 5 star fast food rating.
